Fernhurst is a picturesque village in the South Downs National Park in West Sussex, England. Surrounded by rolling countryside and woodland, it sits near Blackdown—the highest point in Sussex—which offers wide views over the Weald. The village has a traditional green, a mix of historic cottages and modern homes, and a friendly community with local shops, pubs, and regular village events. It’s a popular area for walking, cycling, and exploring the scenic landscapes of the western South Downs.
Access to the property is via a smartlock system, giving convenience to arrive whenever suits you. Instructions will be sent 48 hours prior to your stay.
Inside, the barn offers four spacious bedrooms plus an additional sleeping area on the landing, comfortably accommodating 10 adults and 2 children. One of the twin rooms includes two toddler beds, making the property particularly family-friendly. With three well-appointed bathrooms, mornings and evenings flow smoothly, even with a full house.
Heritage touches feature throughout: exposed beams, striking roof trusses, original stone and brick walls, and a traditional flagstone floor provide warmth and authenticity, while the wood burner creates a cosy focal point for relaxed evenings after days exploring the countryside.
The outdoor setting is just as impressive. A large private lawn, shaded by a magnificent 300-year-old cedar tree, offers a peaceful space for children to play or adults to unwind. Whether it’s picnicking beneath the sweeping branches or enjoying the evening light, it’s a natural highlight of the property.
Bespoke services including concierge-arranged breakfast, private chef dining, wellness sessions, and beauty treatments can also be arranged in advance, creating a tailored, hosted experience within a fully private home setting.
For entertainment, guests can make use of the separate barn games room, home to a Bonzini table football and combined pool and ping-pong table—perfect for rainy days, family tournaments, or lively evenings in.
For larger groups, the barn can be rented alongside the on-site cottage and loft, offering accommodation for up to 14 adults plus the two toddler beds. This setup is ideal for multi-family holidays, retreats, or celebrations with breakfast and in-house services available upon request across all units. The cottage also features a hot tub, adding an extra touch of luxury and relaxation to your stay.
