About this property

Cardy - sleeps 6 guests in 2 bedrooms

Homelands is a charitable trust which provides accessible luxury self catering accommodation in 9 purpose built lodges (Massney, Cardy, Keil, Drummochy, Selkirk, Largo, Lundin, Durham and Emsdorf). The lodges are situated in the picturesque village of Lundin Links overlooking Lundin Links Golf course with open views to Edinburgh over the Firth of Forth.

Lundin Links sits just 12 miles from St Andrews, the home of golf, and a short distance from the East Neuk's rugged coastline and its character filled fishing villages such as Crail, Anstruther, and Pitenweem. Lower Largo and Lundin Links themselves are famed for their links to the original Robinson Crusoe (Alexander Selkirk) whose birthplace in Lower Largo is a short distance from the Lodge. The village features a bar, restaurant, sports club (including tennis courts) and a small parade of shops including pharmacy, butchers, bakers, post office, and general store all within a short distance of the lodges.

The region is famed for its outdoor sports/activities, water sports, history and fresh produce / sea food; served in many of the local restaurants which range from Michelin Starred to world famous and favoured by Royals fish and chips in Anstruther.

Further afield we are an hour from Edinburgh (Scotland's Capital City) and Dundee which houses the Discovery museum and V&A Dundee, Scotland’s first design museum

The lodges have been specifically designed with accessibility in mind and a wealth of features have been incorporated into the designs to ensure they are as accessible as possible, including specialist support equipment/ facilities such as ceiling tracking hoists, a full spacious wetroom, profiling beds, airflow mattress, Clos-o-Mat toilet (depending upon lodge) and riser/recliner chair. We can also provide a range of specialist equipment free of charge on request such as mobile hoists, various shower chairs, a shower trolley, and equipment for people who have a hearing loss. These specialist items must be booked in advance and are allocated on a first come first served basis. For more information about what we provide please get in touch, our helpful staff will happily discuss your requirements.

Property and staff were fabulous we struggled a little but thst was down to us having to work out how to mobilise in a new environment I would like the recliner to have been in a better position I guess that might have helped us as we used the pull out bed and left it out as we couldn’t quite get it back to settee position the upstairs facilities were lovely water pressure a bit low outside is stunning location is perfect for visiting some lovely east fife locations

A Nice Bit Of Respite

This is our second visit now and we love it here. The lodge has everything my husband needs within reason to stay comfortably and you can hire further equipment should you need it. Our lodge was well kitted out and in good condition. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. There were games, books and dvds for a rainy day. Luckily we did not really have any of those! There were people staying either side of us but no noise travelled at all which pleasantly surprised us. The gardens are immaculate thanks to volunteers and a regular gardening company. We felt really welcomed. The view across the golf course to the sea is gorgeous.

Fab!

Lodge was in a great location and within a short drive to neighbouring towns. Lodge was 1st class with everything we required. Very roomy and comfortable. Spotless! Good value! Utility room with pulley was a bonus. Well be back! Also balcony in main bedroom upstairs will be a fabulous feature in Summer. Only criticism is that a blind would be beneficial on inside or main door at entrance to ensure privacy.

Fantastic long weekend

Brilliant place with great facilities. The only negative was that 2 of the underfloor heating thermostats were set at 35C, which took us a while to work out why it was so hot!
Response from VrboOwner on 26 Jan 2026
Clare, thank you for your lovely review. Thank you so much for your lovely review! Pleased to hear you had a fantastic long weekend and enjoyed the facilities – that means a lot to us. Oh dear – 35°C! Thanks for flagging that. We’ll definitely keep an eye on the thermostat settings going forward to save our guests from the unexpected sauna experience! Hope to welcome you back again soon for another brilliant break (with perfectly balanced heating next time!). Warm wishes, The Homelands Team

Summer Holiday 2025

This was our 4th time at Homelands and we just love the place. Accommodation is excellent and all of our needs have always been catered for. Helen and the team are very helpful and are always approachable. Cardy Lodge is always in great condition and the area surrounding is kept in very good condition. We have already booked our summer holiday at Homelands for 2026 and thoroughly recommend others to do the same. Such a fabulous place for a break.

2nd stay in Cardy, it’s ideal for our needs and in a fairly good location for exploring. One small gripe, the water to the bath upstairs never got better than warm
Response from VrboOwner on 26 Jan 2026

Perfect A home from home

I cannot recommend this place enough. You have thought of everything. My stepdaughter is a permanent wheelchair user and it was perfect for her to have an inclusive holiday with our friends. The boys (4 and 5) loved the beach and the play park. We all enjoyed walking to the farm shop with the dogs. There are also lots of activities nog far from Homelands. We enjoyed the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. We hope to come back to explore others.

Worth every penny!!!!

My first visit to Homeland lodges , and we really enjoyed our stay. The lodges had everything we needed to allow my dad to holiday as he uses a wheelchair. The facilities and equipment were all in working order and a folder explaining how every gadget in the lodge works, very useful. The location is stunning and the views wonderful. Staff are friendly and on arrival you get a welcome pack coffee/ tea and cake. I had looked for a few weeks for a holiday company that could provide equipment for people with disabilities, and this company was the best one. I will be definitely be telling everyone about it, and look forward to our next visit .

Dear Martha, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review and for your lovely comments. We are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us here at Homelands. Thank you for your point regarding another drop down rail. The positioning of the toilet itself had to be moved and in the initial plan this was not an issue however we will endeavour to try and rectify this whenever possible. Lovely

We had a lovely 4 night stay. The accommodation was exactly as described with everything we needed. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were perfect for our daughter who has high standards! Seriously couldn't find fault with anything. We rated customer service 5 but in reality we didn't see anyone - because we didn't need to. Sure it would have been a 5 though if we had. Thank you we will almost certainly be back

We found our stay at Homelands to be everything we hoped it would be and more. The accommodation was excellent and the views spectacular. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble! There was also a feeling of calmness and tranquility which was just what we all needed. The community cafe was also an added bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend Homelands to others and plan to return in the future.

Just what we were looking for

This was our first visit to Homelands, Cardy, and what a find. It’s exactly what we were looking for in a holiday .Great facilities , spotlessly clean and in beautiful surroundings. My husband is a full time wheelchair user following a severe stroke and the chalet was ideal. It had everything we needed and my husband felt very much at home. It’s spacious enabling him to move about freely m. The large entrance allowed plenty of room to remove and store the power pack for his chair as well as remove and hang up wet coats and wheelchair cape as we had a few very wet days. We have an electric car and I was delighted that the chalet had its own charging point as well as one further one at the Paxton Centre next door. We had a lovely view from Cardy and look forward to coming back in August to enjoy the scenery and being able to sit in the well kept garden.

2 carers supported a lady on a weeks holiday. The accommodation was brilliant with everything we required and more. The equipement was all saftey tested and within date . The rooms were very spacious and the beds vey comfy. We had brought supplies with us but the little touches like washing up liquid, a few dishwasher and washing machine tablets was a nice touch and handy if you forget anything. Plenty of spare bedding and towels. The utility with washer and dryer etc was a great help daily to keep everything fresh. We loved it. We will be rexcomensing to friends and colleagues and I am.sure we will be back again soon as esay reach from where we live and close by places of interest.

Excellent venue. If I have to pick fault bathroom ceiling a little low for hoisting when using peristeen system. A little isolated ( if you have good rapport with council could do with crossing to get to local restaurants and pub)very fast road in a wheelchair

A lovely stay in a lovely place

We really loved our time at Homelands and Cardy made us feel like we were in a home from home. The accessibility was excellent and my husband felt seen and recognised which was really nice to see. The location was gorgeous, a lovely sea view from the living room area. The gardens were immaculate and full of native flowers and plants. The furniture was comfortable and smart and some real thought had been put in to what was needed. There were even cookbooks! The beds were comfy and and the toilet and wet room was easy to use and spacious. We utilised the community cafe (open mon/tues 11-2pm) and found such a friendly bunch of people and lovely food too -all cooked and manned by volunteers. We will be back!

A peaceful Stay

This is the first time we have used Homelands and what an excellent find. My husband has mobility issues and Cardy lodge had everything we needed to keep him safe but mobile. There is plenty of room downstairs which enabled him to use his rollator, plenty of handgrips in the bathrooms, and plenty of extra equipment available if needed. We went to their community cafe, where we had lovely soup and sandwiches. Everyone working in the cafe were volunteers and were so welcoming and friendly. There are lots of walks from Honelands and lots of lovely places to visit a short drive away. We will definitely be back.

2nd Trip to Homelands

Our 2nd visit to Homelands and it did not disappoint. Great location, immaculate lodge with all the facilities one could ask for. Complementary tea, coffee, milk and cake very much appreciated. Made use of the Paxton Centre for a toastie on the Tuesday which was nice and the ladies are lovely. Didn’t have any engagement with the Homelands staff which is fine as it is a self-catering break. The lodge has everything required. The hospital bed with rails was excellent Check-out time on par with hotels (10:30) but was a wee bit rushed getting all things together - providing care, stripping beds and taking rubbish out to bins etc. Just need to be more organised next time
