Abbots’ Rest is a second floor apartment within Fort Augustus Abbey, carefully refurbished to offer groups the perfect base to come and enjoy this beautiful area. The main open plan living area has a stylish kitchen with granite worktops and is fully fitted with a full complement of very good quality kitchen equipment and utensils. The oak dining table and chairs and the comfortable seating are set off beautifully by the wooden floor. This whole apartment is furnished to a very good standard including a master bedroom suite with a magnificent sleigh bed, affording wonderful views over the Cloister Gardens with their unique stonework, arched windows and majestic towers. There is a second double bedroom and a third lovely twin-bedded room with views of the loch. The apartment comfortably sleeps six but can sleep eight with the use of the double sofa bed in the second sitting room. There is also a separate family bathroom with a second powerful shower over the bathtub and lovely views over the Cloisters.
Minutes from the apartment is the very pretty village of Fort Augustus which lies on the banks of Loch Ness where it meets the Caledonian Canal. This bustling Highland village has shops, restaurants, bars, and boat trips. Inverness and Fort William are both just a 45-minute drive away. The Isle of Skye is just over an hour’s drive, and (in our opinion) one of the most beautiful roads in Scotland taking you through the Kintail mountain range. On route, Eileen Donan Castle, is worth a visit, as is the beautiful coastal village Plockton, and a stop off at the local inn.
You’ll be spoilt for choice for activities on your doorstep including salmon fishing, walking, climbing, pony trekking, golf and so much more! Onsite are a variety of free on-site activities available to guests (pre-book only) including a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, playground, tennis court, football goals, snooker table, table football and table tennis.
