West facing newly renovated cottage located on Cousins Island in picturesque Yarmouth, Maine. Enjoy the quiet, peaceful views of Casco Bay while relaxing in the sunny, open living room or out on the large cedar deck. You can also enjoy the view from the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable dining area. The master bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom has bunk beds and a twin. There is a full bathroom between the two bedrooms.

Cousins Island is accessed by bridge and is located about 15 miles north of Portland. Cousins is less than 10 miles from downtown Freeport, home of LL Beans and many famous outlet stores.

Birchwood Cottage is perfect as a home base as you explore all that coastal Maine has to offer or as a place to just sit back and enjoy spectacular sunsets over Casco Bay.

A happy and welcoming cottage

What a happy and welcoming place to stay. The decor and colors were a perfect compliment to the seaside setting. The town of Yarmouth wss so beautiful and our stay was vey peaceful. Nearby Ft. William park was magnificent and we had fun in Portland. We definitely want to return.

A WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY!

The hosts could not have been nicer! Always got right back to me w/ any questions I had. This was such a charming place to stay and it had everthing we needed. Such a quiet and peaceful street and we enjoyed sitting on the deck looking out at Castco Bay! We even used the BBQ twice! I would love to stay here again! T

Great property and location!

Perfect location with easy drives to Portland and Freeport. Lovely views and the cottage had everything you needed. Amy, the owner, was great to communicate with and when the GPS told us the property was on the left side of the road, vs the right, I quickly was able to get a hold of her. (It was dark so we couldn't see the numbers clearly!) Would recommend staying, especially during the warmer months when you can take full advantage of the beautiful deck.

We just wrapped up a month-long stay here and couldn't have asked for a better home base to explore Maine. Amy was wonderful to work with from start to finish, responsive to every question and just a joy to interact with throughout our stay.The house itself exceeded what we saw in the photos! The kitchen is well-equipped and makes cooking easy for our whole stay. But the real star of the show is the view. We ate countless lunches and dinners out on the deck just watching the water. It never got old.Location-wise, this spot is ideal. It's a quick jump down to Portland when you want city energy, and heading up the coast to Brunswick and Bath is easy too. Acadia is a bit of a drive (3 hours), but very doable for a long weekend trip.The street is quiet, with friendly neighbors, and the island itself has so much to explore, with nature paths, the beach, and the bridge to Little John Island. They were even putting in paved sidewalks while we were there.If you're looking for a place that feels secluded and peaceful but still puts you close to everything Maine has to offer, we can't recommend this one enough. We'll definitely be back!

We were in town for a trade show which was cancelled. We decided to get away any way. The cottage is bright and cheerful, very clean and new. It was just the ticket for these trying times with Covid 19 . We were able to read and relax. Thanl you for sharing oyur cottage with us. Be well and healthy!

Beautiful, clean, comfortable.... great place!

This lovely cottage is in a perfect setting for a retreat! Pristine location, very clean and nicely appointed, well stocked with nice supplies, comfortable bed with great linens, thick towels.... all was great. Amy was always quick to respond to questions and even offered extra time to check out. She even left a few lights on for us since we were arriving after dark. Close to many fun and interesting sights and activities. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in Maine.

Beautiful and relaxing

This was the perfect rental to take walks with our daughter and dog, go sight seeing, enjoy the water views and just a short commute to Portland. The home was sparkling clean, stocked with everything we needed and has the most beautiful views of the water.

Great Maine get away!

My husband and I loved the solitude and sunsets! We walked the beach with family and slept like babies in the quiet, comfortable rooms after full shopping days in Freeport and Portland. The few times we had questions, we got answers immediately. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Relaxing

We loved Birchwood Cottage the moment we walked in. It was warm and welcoming and just wonderful being able to see the water from the front windows. We were concerned that the property might be too small for 3 adults and a dog but we were pleasantly surprised. We had plenty of room for all of us and never felt cramped. We’ve been renting various cottages in Maine over the years and, for its size, this one rates at the top. Amy was wonderful to work with both before, during and after. The location on Cousins Island was great. We were able to easily travel to Kennebunkport, Portland, Freeport and Brunswick. Wish we could have stayed longer than 2 weeks!!

Great stay with the family

Visited Yarmouth for a week with my husband, one year old and golden. Amy was extremely communicative. The property is clean and everything was provided. Very quiet and secluded but close to town. Amazing sunsets off the porch. Would love to come back.

Peaceful stay

The cottage is cute and practical. It was perfect for the two nights that we were in Maine for a wedding. I didn’t give 5 stars for the location because I really can’t speak to the qualities of Cousins Island as we had no time to explore, but the view from the cottage to the bay is very pretty. The owner went out of her way to be helpful, managing to get an ironing board for me to use, which we greatly appreciated. She also made it possible for a friend to drop food off for us as we were arriving very late at night after everything g was closed. So all in all, a great stay and great host.

Wonderful place

Four adults stayed here for memorial weekend. It was perfect. I would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting this area. It was in a great location too, outside of the city but plenty close enough to get to where we wanted to visit in Portland, Freeport and Reid state park.

Very comfortable cottage!

My husband and I visited this cottage and had a wonderful stay. We loved how updated the place was and so cozy. The decorating style is very nice and the exterior surroundings were well taken care of. The location is perfect to many retail and outdoor adventures! The view is outstanding. Communication with Amy was super and made the renting process a breeze! I highly recommend this cottage.

Adorable Cozy and Comfortable Cottage!

We stayed at Birchwood Cottage for a week! It is very warm and welcoming! Great views off of the deck. Maine weather not so welcoming...WiFi and Netflix a plus for being indoors! Loved it!

We stayed here for a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday while we visited family in the area. The pictures do not do it justice! This cottage is spacious and perfect! It was extremely clean, everything worked perfectly, convenient, and an absolutely amazing view. I wish I could have stayed longer! The hosts were wonderful and extremely easy to work with. I loved it! Don't hesitate and book it now!

Comfy with a beautiful view

We stayed at Birchwood Cottage for a long weekend. It was clean, comfortable, and quiet. It was a perfect size for the two of us. The views of the water were outstanding; we saw two gorgeous sunsets! Unfortunately, it was quite cold so we didn't get to sit on the beautiful deck overlooking the water. Amy was very accommodating of our early arrival, and was very responsive when we had a question or two. The location was good in that it was outside of the town of Yarmouth, yet it only took 5 or so minutes to drive there. We loved the causeway between "our" island and the mainland. If you need a recommendation for breakfast, the bagels at Maples bakery were FABulous!

Cozy Cottage

Great property and pretty water views. It was clean and had everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay. My husband and I were visiting the area for an anniversary trip. Amy was quick to respond to all my questions. Although we didn't spend a lot of time at the cottage, it was a good central location to come back to. Will definitely have to visit in the warmer months to enjoy the outside deck.

My husband Pete and I live in Yarmouth with our 2 kids. Pete is a local builder and I own a bookstore on Main Street in Yarmouth called Royal River Books.

Why they chose this property

We have always dreamed of having a cottage on the water. Pete had his eye on this property for years and finally had the opportunity to purchase it in early 2017. We spent most of the year renovating and furnishing the cottage. We use it for special occasions and visiting family and friends.

What makes this property unique

We live right over the bridge if guests have any problems with the property. Pete did the renovations and has been a builder for over 20 years. Pete and I are both from the area and are happy to help with any suggestions or questions about southern Maine.
