English country charm greets you at the side entrance of this cottage, leading to the the "reading room". The kitchen is cottage style, small but very open concept, with a gas range (!), oven, dishwasher, etc. Lovely ocean views from the kitchen window. Refinished hardwood floors and clean lines on the open concept main level give the living space a Scandinavian feel, including skylights in the living room. The main floor is flooded with natural light.
Two small bedrooms are located off the main floor, one with a queen bed, and one with two twin beds. Both are at the back of the house, protected from bright morning light. The upstairs loft is a large open space that is fully private, with a door that closes, and carpet to insulate from sound below. A full wall of windows gives magnificent ocean views and bright light throughout the day.
The full bath is fully renovated and spacious, with a skylight above the shower, and tons of storage and counter space. A half bath off the entryway room is renovated with river-stone tile and a country cottage feel. This space also house the washer and dryer behind louver doors. The requisite outdoor shower adds to the bath space and is great for after-beach rinse-offs.
The overall feel of this cottage is open concept, brightly-lit with easy access to ground-level deck space and a yard for kids (all in view of the house). It has a very functional layout with minimal stairs. The house is ideal for one couple with 2-3 kids or two couples with a couple of kids. Children enjoy the quiet neighborhood feel, which is very safe for unsupervised bike rides and walks. You'll see most of your neighbors for morning and evening walks around the neighborhood and to the beaches. Goosewing beach, a ten minute walk down the hill, is particularly lovely for long walks, shell gathering, and bird watching over the tidal marshes and ponds. Adjoining South Shore beach has decent surfing for beginners and kids and is great for boogie boarding. Surfing camps are available in Summer from Living Water Surf Co in Little Compton.
In addition to the seaside charm of Little Compton itself, you'll have access to the Westport river, just over the border into Massachusetts, Horseneck Beach, Padanaram Village, and Newport, RI (all about 30-40 min away). Those who sail will find themselves in paradise.
