Extremely quiet and peaceful and beautiful. Very natural and isolated. Only problem was the full trash bags and where to put them. There was a receptacle on the deck which was already full from the last people so I moved it to the side of the house to avoid flies And placed our bags on the ground next to it. Hopefully as of this writing they have been collected. Definitely would return otherwise

Hi there! Sorry our regular trash collector was ill and we didn't realize the trash wasn't being collected. We have taken care of it!
Great place to stay near (1hr) Yosemite. Very quiet. Lots of wildlife. Beautiful view, w/ great sunsets and bright stars. Comfortable beds and well appointed. Close to town for groceries. Had a fun time. We’d come back again.
I stayed at Poppy Cottage for a full month and I loved my time there. The internet and cell service was reliable at the cottage, which was really important for me since I got zero reception practically everywhere else in Mariposa County. You get a great view from the deck, and the property is spaced far enough away from the neighbors where you have absolute peace and quiet, but not so far that you feel like you’d be in trouble in case of an emergency. The main attraction for me was Yosemite National Park. It took me about an hour to hour and a half to get to the El Portal entrance, and about an hour to get to the Mariposa Grove entrance. The drive is beautiful and I really didn’t mind it, but do take the amount of time it takes to get back and forth if Yosemite is a big draw for you. I’d highly recommend the cottage, and I won’t hesitate to stay there again.
Had an amazing stay in this beautiful and cozy cabin. The area is peaceful and calm which is great to come home to after a long day of hiking. Everything was provided from utensils to appliances which was really nice to have and very useful too. Would stay here again.
Nice and cozy property about 1 hour and 30 min outside the entrance of Yosemite National Park. You don’t even notice the time because the drive is very scenic and lovely. There is a full-size kitchen, ac, internet access, and you wake up every morning to see deer and rabbits which my kids loved. It’s on a private road so it’s like a little private oasis in nature after long hikes in the park. It’s also close enough to town to get extra supplies. My family had a blast!
This is a great cottage! my family enjoyed the amazing views and the friendly local wild life in the mornings on the large deck, the beds were very confortable, I wish the house had a hot tub, after long days of hicking the parks it would be very nice 😊
Enough room for our small group of 4.
Very clean, kitchen is well equipped.
Enjoyed the terrace and grill for our sunset dinners. Sightings of deers and bunnies.
Would most definitely recommend this property.

Needs some TLC
Needs a little more attention. Great back patio. Quiet. Comfortable bed.
Poppy Cottage was only an hour away from Yosemite. Very quiet and clean everything pictured in the photos when reserving the cottage is exactly what we expected. If you want to get away from the city I highly recommend
I had a really great stay at this location! Everything was clean and well-maintained. The deck is really great to watch the sunsets or the birds! There is lots of privacy and some horses next door!
Two things that might be not obvious from the listing are that because of a storm, many of the trees in the whole area have fallen and the property (as all properties in the area) is still in the process of cleaning up fallen trees.
Also, access to the property is on a well-maintained gravel road, so expect to get some dust on your car.

a few odd situations
Upon arriving at the house at dusk we had difficulty finding the street that the house was on- the small street sign was not well lit after dark. In addition, the house number given on vrbo was not correct so we drove around a bit before finding the house. The communication with the home owner was very poor as she was not easy to communicate with. The shower broke and we did not hear from her until the morning- it was a very short form of communication.
The day when the handy man came to the house to fix the shower, somehow an extra lazy boy made its way into the house. A nice gesture I’m sure, but I have to say it left us flabbergasted. It would have been nice to have been given a heads up about additional furniture being added to the living room when we were hiking.
a bit remote but overall a very relaxing and clean and family-friendly place.

fantastic hide away
Poppy cottage is very secluded with a fantastic view of the lake and forest.
The cottage was very clean and had most amenities required, it could do with a new shower as there was no water pressure. However make sure you bring plenty food supplies as the nearest store is just over a mile away and was very expensive. The nearest grocery store was a 30 minute drive.
We chose to stay at Poppy cottage so we could visit Yosemite national park. It took us 1 and half hours in the car to reach lower Yosemite falls.
If you are looking for a nice quiet place to relax then Poppy cottage would be perfect.

Hi Marc,
Glad you enjoyed the cottage. Sorry about the water flow... this is the first I have heard about that. I wish you had told me while you were here. I’m having a plumber out to look tomorrow! Thank you for letting me know! :)
