About this property
Fern Creek
Convenient location w/ spectacular views!
This darling little house has been completely renovated in a rather eclectic Alaskan style. We have combined some of old Alaska with fresh looks for an utterly charming effect. Please note that the bedrooms in this house are upstairs while the bathroom is on the first floor.
Located conveniently close to town, on the back corner of the property, you have a private yard, plenty of parking, and spectacular views of Kachemak Bay and the snow-capped Kenai Mountain Range. There are decks across the width of the house on both levels. South-facing, the house and decks capture the full sun into the evening hours. Both decks have seating from which to relax, drink coffee (or whatever!) and take in the extraordinary views.
This is one of two rentals offered by Alaska Holiday Homes and available on this property. Rent both to bring a large group of family / friends together in one location (in all, 5 queen beds for 10 people).

The place was very clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay there again when we return to the area. Great location with amazing views!
Very nice place to stay. Great location in Homer. Good view of mountains. All the amenities you need. Washer and dryer were a plus. Internet was slow, but wasn’t a big need for us. The place was just as the photos showed.
I can see why this airbnb has such amazing reviews! It is located in a great spot in town, close to everything, yet with a private and very safe feel. Mama moose and her baby visited one evening and we watched through the window in amazement as they made themselves at home in the yard. The beds are very comfortable, the shower is hot, and the coffee beans and grinder were a nice special touch. I would love to come back and stay here again if I ever make it back to Homer!
Great place with great views from the decks. Nice comfortable mattresses. We didn’t cook but nice big kitchen if you intend to cook. Easy to get to from town.
We spent most of our time looking at the incredible view! We loved the house and the art and history but most of all we loved seeing the moose every day and the sandhill crane. We would definitely stay here again.
The communication, flexibilty, and kindness didplayed by the host was so apprciated. The property was manicured and the unit we stayed in was top notch.
Close to everything you cant go wrong staying here and the pricr is right.
A beautiful place well located in Homer, Alaska. Like having your own home, convenient to everything in Homer and a lovely place to just hang out if that is what you like to do! Everything was just great! Hope to go back there again!
Loved the property and view and proximity to the Homer spit. Enjoyed our stay so much and got to do laundry so didnt have to pack as much for our 1 week adventure in Alaska!
The cabin was well appointed with VERY comforable beds and pillows and the views were stunning. It was just a short drive down to The Spit where we saw lots of people meandering through. A nice drive up East End took us to Eveline park where you could see glaciers. .wertheonger.
What a beautiful house in Homer! Perfect for our fishing trip stay. The view from both decks was amazing! Comfortable beds, great kitchen, everything we needed. Such an easy check in and out too. I highly recommend this property!

Thank you, Lisa! Always good to know our guests have been comfortable :-)
Great location, quick bike to town, quiet spot at the base of East Hill. Adorable little house, cozy, and have everything you might need for a relaxing weekend. We had a gorgeous sunny weekend so the 2 decks were a great spot for morning coffee and of course the view is spectacular! Thanks again for a lovely stay.

About the host
Hosted by Kit & Phyllis Barnett
I was born and raised in Homer, my husband, Kit is from Scotland. While I have never moved away from Homer, I have done considerable travel. Kit and I have chosen (in my case re-chosen) Homer for our own love of hiking, fishing, camping, and boating.
Previously we worked in Bush Alaska during the school year, I was a high school English teacher, Kit has worked as a VPSO (Village Public Safety Officer), alcohol distribution agent, and school bus driver, then Maintenance & Operations for the school. We are now living in Homer full time and loving it!
Why they chose this property
This house has a bit of family history. My brother build it in 1991 when his family was young and growing. He commercially fished both Bristol Bay, Alaska (red salmon) and San Clemente, California (lobster). Most of the year he and his family lived in San Clemente, but spent a month or so on either side of the Bristol Bay season in Homer - where they visited family and prepared for the summer season in the Bay. They had outgrown our mother's house for such long stays, so he and I made the agreement that he would build a small cabin on the edge of my property for their use when they were in town and for my use as a summer rental when they weren't. Construction started as I took off for a month long moose hunting trip. Imagine my surprise when I returned to find this two-story 24 X 24 house with double decks!
After some "water under the bridge" and a few years later, Kit and I purchased the house from my brother.
What makes this property unique
This home is utterly delightful. It is filled with natural light, and views that are so striking they take your breath away. The octagonal window at the top of the staircase lets in a flood of sunlight each morning and provides a picture perfect framing of Yukon Island from the east bedroom. The house itself faces south and catches all the light available summer and winter. The bedrooms are both furnished with black-out blinds just in case you do want to shut your eyes and sleep.
