As soon as we entered Miner’s Cottage we felt at home. This historic home offered spacious gathering rooms whether reading, completing a puzzle or relaxing with a glass of wine. Everyone felt comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The Christmas tree and other tasteful decorations carried the holiday spirit. The snowfall added to the overall picturesque beauty of our visit.
Miner Cottage was just amazing. It was beautiful and has amazing history. Great place for my family and i to stay. I highly recommend Miner Cottage if uou have plans to Manchester!
Super convenient property. Plenty of room for family to spread out and work during the day. Ample kitchen, well stocked with nice dishes and functional pots and pans. Super friendly host and easy check in and check out. We will stay again if we come back!
We loved our stay at Miner Cottage. The house is much bigger than we anticipated and has everything you would need. The check in and check out process was very organized and we enjoyed the town and everything Manchester has to offer. Would definitely come back!
Our family traveled to Manchester to celebrate our son's weekend wedding. Minor Cottage was absolutely perfect for our stay. The house is filled with history and charm, and the location just can't be beat. Clean, spacious, well stocked with all amenities. Everything was tremendous and Rick was so attentive and helpful throughout the booking process. If your plans call for Manchester VT with a large group - this is the place!! We will definitely be back!
House is very large .
I was afraid the pictures were enhanced , not at all.
7 adults 4 kids 5-9 yo.
Plenty of room for everyone.
Worked out very very well
We cannot say enough positive things about our stay at Miner Cottage. The house is rich with history and exudes character and charm in every room. The check-in process was a sinch, and the house was immaculate upon arrival. It definitely lives much larger than it appears in the pictures. Rick was a pleasure and super on top of all of our correspondence. Our only regret was we did not stay for longer. We will definitely book again!
The house could not be in a better location within Manchester. Not only that it was in beautiful condition, you can feel the history, and Rick was great! Highly recommend!
Miner Cottage was spacious and comfortable with a wonderful sense of history, a fabulous yard, and a beautiful setting. Rick was extremely helpful and responsive.
Stayed at Miner Cottage this weekend with my family and the house / experience was much better than advertised. The house is beautiful and has so much history. The bedrooms are huge and the downstairs has multiple living rooms to hang out in. Rick was extremely accommodating and answered any questions we had. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!
We booked Rick's home for an extended family ski vacation with grandparents and grandkids, and the home completely exceeded our group's expectations. It's a beautiful mix of a classic historic Vermont home with space and amenities to meet a modern family's needs. The first floor offered more than enough space for kids to play and roam, and the bedrooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Location was ideal- right next to the Equinox and very close to town- perfect for the non-skiers and for picking up food. Rick was one of the most accommodating hosts we've experienced. Incredibly communicative, accommodating, and thoughtful touches throughout the home and process. Thank you! We are definitely hoping to stay again!
Amazing home and location! Great for a group or family gathering!
6 friends stayed for the weekend. The home was just perfect - large enough that we all had ample space, but still felt cozy. Many different living areas made it super comfortable. Location is amazing! Can't wait to go back
We rented beautiful, historic Miner Cottage for our daughter’s rescheduled wedding at Hildene. The layout and space in the house made it so comfortable and convenient when bridesmaids were primping, people were socializing and constantly stopping by. We had friends and family staying all over Manchester and our central location made everything go so smoothly.
The house is absolutely lovely, the gardens are my dream and the kitchen has all the essentials.
We will never forget our once in a lifetime experience and will always have a spot in our hearts for this gem of a home.

About the host
Hosted by Rick Anderson
Rick Anderson purchased Miner Cottage from the historic home’s first and only owners in the Fall of 2017. Rick’s parents were Vermonters and when his parents sold their Dorset house in 2015 Rick was determined his family continue the sensational Vermont experience that began for them 27 years ago. Miner Cottage was his family’s answer to their dream.
Rick spent 33 years as an advertising sales executive with TimeWarner, including a three-year tenure launching This Old House Magazine. While working for TimeWarner Rick began renovating old homes; Miner Cottage is his 6th restoration project and the house reflects the same, thoughtful design process he has applied to his other homes…. Maintain the classic beauty of an historic home while adding a few modest, necessary and contemporary amenities important to his family and their guests.
Why they chose this property
Rick and his family rented Miner Cottage from its original owner in the Summer of 2017. At the time they had no intention of buying a 2nd home. The house, while without heat and modern amenities, had a perfect "in town" Manchester location and a history that was incredible. Additionally Miner Cottage was the last remaining home on Manchester's "Main Street" that hadn't been renovated. During their visit they fell in love with the charm and character of Miner Cottage. The restoration was simple. Rick's goal was to restore the home without compromising its character. Miner Cottage remains, as Rick promised its original owner, "your family's Miner Cottage" with updates.
Rick and his wife, a prominent Ct. landscape designer, bought Miner Cottage because it contained the three elements which connect with their lifestyle. First and foremost they love the beauty of Southern, Vt.. Secondly, the in-town location of Miner Cottage basically eliminates the need for a car in Manchester for their weekend visits, and thirdly, you can "set your watch" to the "trafficless" 3 hour drive from Wilton to Manchester on any day and virtually at any time of year.
Manchester, Vt. and Miner Cottage offer the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the NY metropolitan suburbs and Rick is excited to share the Miner Cottage/Manchester experience with others.
