Very Sexy, Cozy and Romantic! Located Near Yosemite/Bass Lake
Located near Yosemite National Parks southern gate in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range says it all. 5 acres are home to a wide assortment of wildlife as a seasonal creeks supplies wildflowers with life into the warm summer nights. Birds will awake you with there songs in the morning as raccoons will bid you goodnight from there perch on the tree limb. Deer and wild turkeys also can be spotted in the dawn and dusk hours of the day. There are a multitude of trails inside and outside of the park to enjoy. We have a wonderful Visitor Center in Oakhurst with many resources as well as have personal knowledge of favorite off the grid spots to discover with less crowds as you may find in Yosemite Valley, though nothing does compare to the awesomeness of that place, truly magnificent! We created a very beautiful space which is truly unique yet very comfortable. A 20 foot yurt with insulation, wood doors and dual pane windows help control the climate and noise unlike traditional yurts, so in other words, its fancy! It is designed to fulfill the glamping nature connections we seek when in the mountains! Beautiful wood plank floors and art to see! If there is anyway you happen to get an itch to know what is going on in the world, yes, we do have internet, but decided that a TV was not a necessary element in our space with all the streaming devices we have become so dependent on! Turn them off and relax! We also have nice local lakes with fishing and water sports available. Picturesque rivers and streams to take refreshing dips with the summer heat. All said, we really are confident that you will have a relaxing time with plenty of adventure to find you that is what you are after! Yosemite Shuteye is a nice place! Happy Travels,
Helene and Timothy

We had a fantastic stay. Helena and Timothy are friendly and extremely helpful. The details in the property truly show the care they give each guest. Don’t pass on this property you will love it!
We had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay! The yurt is so unique and your attention to detail is wonderful. So many special details and extra touches - like the fresh ground coffee and fresh flowers. Thank you for sharing your amazing space!
The Yurt was just beautiful and had everything we needed! Helene thought of every last detail and was a great host! I highly recommend this property! It’s close to Yosemite and very quiet and peaceful.
Helene and Timothy did a great job in designing and building their modern yurt! We thoroughly enjoyed the unique stay on the property and would highly recommend it to anyone else looking for a different kind of getaway.

property was thoughtfully cared for and very pretty. the yurt, cooking area and sitting porch are simply fantastic and so relaxing. Each detail is well appointed, crafted and functional. this is a wooded retreat and such a sweet spot in Oakhurst. Great place to stay before entering the National Park.
A wonderful place to stay, excellently presented with a great deal of thought and careful consideration given to even the small details that contribute to your stay. Very well done

Thanks for all the nice thoughts! We are happy you enjoyed! You are welcome back anytime!
This was our first time staying in a yurt and it was amazing! We got a lot of rain, but it just added to the experience. No sound machine needed while it is raining in a yurt! Fantastic property and the owners thought of everything.

Thanks Justin! It was really an amazing storm while you were here! We love it! Thanks for the great review!
This property was super romantic, and there was so much to see just sitting around on the porch watching nature! It was not far at all from the park, which was a bonus, and they had everything that we needed to cook. I am not one who usually wants to go back to a place I’ve already been, but I will absolutely stay here again. Their hospitality was unbelievable and they are great people!! I highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic getaway with hikes nearby.
Staying at this yurt was such a different experience! The yurt, patio area, and kitchen/bathroom were tastefully put together and decorated. Although stepping out from the yurt to use the restroom was a little nerve-wracking with the darkness outside, the string lights and flashlights made it feel like glamping. We really enjoyed sitting outdoors and taking in the peace away from the city.
We had never experienced a yurt before and we were blown away by how comfortable the experience was. Serene and dreamy sums it up. The bed was very comfortable and the environment was very quiet and relaxing. The whole facility was much larger than I expected with a full kitchen, bath and deck all connected to the yurt under a canopy with twinkle lights strung in the trees. The accommodations exceeded our expectations and we only wish we could of stayed longer.

So sweet! Love that you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for the nice words!
We loved the yurt! It was such an amazing getaway from our usual day-to-day suburb life and gave us a reset.
We made full use of the attached kitchen during our stay and even had some animal friends join us for breakfast like a couple of hummingbirds and deer!
Reading a book in the hammock, surrounded by just the sounds of nature was one of the highlights of the yurt. So simple, but so necessary in our busy lives.
There were so many amenities to give us all the creature comforts we are used to while still letting us feel connected to the outdoors!

Great base for Yosemite
A very unique property. It was tremendous. It was good to relax and have a beer on the patio and just enjoy the scene. The yurt itself is very nice. A lot of little touches. The hosts greeted us, showed us how things worked and made themselves available for recommendations. The wife and I would have loved to stay longer but the logistics just did not allow it. Great place and we would certainly come back if we are in the area!

So kind! Very happy you enjoyed your time with us at the yurt. Makes us very happy!
We had a wonderful 4 night stay. As beautiful as the pictures look, they truly do not do this property justice. The wood floors in the yurt, the outdoor cooking area and bar to eat and watch the deer and hummingbirds. It is truly a tranquil retreat and perfect place to disconnect a bit, but wifi is available so we were able to keep in touch with our kiddos. I am back two days and my partner and I keep commenting about how much we miss yurt life. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We came to celebrate my bf’s birthday and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Helene, Timothy, and Bru were very welcoming and happily helped us with all of our questions regarding car chains and whatnot. The place itself is beyond beautiful. Of course knowing that you would have to walk outside in the cold to get to the restroom/kitchen is all part of the experience. We appreciated how everything was placed/done very intentionally, and enjoyed our stay here tremendously. We even received tons of questions from our friends regarding this location due to the uniqueness of it! Thank you again for the perfect little getaway!

Peace in the mountains
Helene and Timothy were excellent hosts, giving us the resources we needed to be comfortable and also giving us privacy and quiet space to enjoy the property. The yurt is beautifully constructed in a peaceful grove that was a haven of birds and deer. We were there during the Yosemite fire season and yet we were completely comfortable. The air conditioner gave us a clean indoor space and the shaded grove was cool and refreshing. All the facilities worked perfectly and we had everything we needed to enjoy homemade meals and drinks on a beautiful balcony overlooking graceful oaks and wildflowers. We would definitely stay here again as a base for exploring the Sierras or Yosemite.

Your the best! Appreciate your valued words. All the best to you...
This was a great experience. Timothy and Helene were terrific hosts and amazing communicators.
While I agree the yurt can be considered "sexy" and "romantic" (although not for me, as I was there with my kids...), the bathroom definitely wasn't. The bathroom was a little off-putting. The toilet is a self-flushing unit, and while I don't want to give the impression it wasn't clean, just smelled a bit, and we needed to keep the bathroom door shut because of it. The shower was very small, but the water pressure was great. Just not built for two (if you're going for "sexy" and "romantic").
Again, overall we loved it, and appreciated the hospitality.

So in response to this...hummm, So first of all we don't allow more than 2 guests...but we made an exception for poor David because he was a single dad wanting to take his girls on a great trip. We never expected to make a bathroom sexy Dave. Where are you from? THE YURT where the bed and the vibe is the sexy part!!! LOL Dave messaged us at 8:30 at night because of a few ants (IN HIS DAUGHTERS BAG ON THE FLOOR!!!) Where are you from DAD? We have over 250 total reviews on this property. ALL 5 star. Check it. Dave will not be allowed back...and sadly--because of Dave--kids will be a hard sell as well. Just shows you what one short lonely jewish guy can do...Next time---Stay at a hotel in town. Very disappointing after all that we did to make his stay great.

Wow! Just Wow! Helene and Timothy are consummate hosts. They walk you through your space efficiently. They give you space and yet are close enough if you need them. It was fun to visit with them and learn about how they came to build the yurt and tipi. They are artists and master craftsmen. Their talents bring together a beautifully built and decorated vacation spot. No detail goes undone. Extremely clean inside and out. Even with so much outside living spaces and you don’t see a spiderweb any where. My goal was to check off a yurt on my bucket list only to now add a tipi to my bucket list. We will be back. Thank you Helene and Timothy, and of course, we can’t forget Bru too! This is close enough to Yosemite; and yet, far enough away for peace and quiet, and to have your own wild life experience.

About the host
Hosted by Helene Baeza and Timothy Thomas
I'm Helene. I've been living in the mountains here for more than 40 years because I love nature, the lakes and all things natural. The mountains are in my blood. I've been in the hospitality business for more than 40 years. Timothy and I had a vision, and built our place to share with likeminded folk. I'm a longtime lover of the blues. My father taught me to love and respect nature, music, camping and peaceful co-existence. I was born and raised in North Hollywood. Every summer we rented cabins at Bass Lake, which is how I came to call Oakhurst home. My life motto is 'be kind to people."
Why they chose this property
We love the unique quality of our yurt. We built it ourselves and put many personal touches and quality into the design and functionality. We would love to stay in it ourselves!!!
What makes this property unique
Our yurt is just quality with a sense of being in nature at the same time as having the luxury of comfort combined with all the simple nice amenities of home. Truly a refreshing place for mind and body. It has become a go to for romantic couples celebrating life and each other!
