The host and his dog, Shoog, are very friendly and helpful! The cottage was clean and well stocked. Cottage is close Cooperstown and the area is very nice.
We had a great time staying while we visited the baseball hall of fame. Scott was a great host, making sure we had everything we needed. We loved being close to Cooperstown and also being able to hike with the dog to starfield.
This property was perfectly nestled right outside Cooperstown. The inside was very clean and had everything we needed. Communication was great with the owner and we loved our stay!
We stayed at the cottage on our first trip to Cooperstown. It is well located with all the sites within a short drive. We enjoyed a hike up to star field with our dog (bonus that the cottage allows dogs). Scott was a great host - checking in to ensure we were settling in well and we enjoyed an afternoon with Scott on the lake. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy the cottage and area again.
This was a charming, cozy cottage with hiking trails in the back. It’s close to the Hall of Fame, restaurants, and shopping. The owner and his dog are very friendly! We will certainly stay here again.
We always wanted to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame - the cottage is a short ride and very close to Cooperstown so ideal location for us. Scott and his friendly pup Shoog greeted us, and Scott was very helpful and responsive to our questions. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, and the nearby restaurants were terrific. We had a very nice stay and enjoyed beautiful weather and fall colors!
The cottage was clean and easy to access. We’re from the city and didn’t realize this location was right on the hill surrounded by woods. It wasn’t necessarily for us but it was a nice stay. If you like outdoors and hiking this is for you. The bedrooms are upstairs a steep staircase so keep in mind if there are young/older guests or pets. We had ample space and supplies. Private driveway was nice. They say it’s pet friendly but again not being hikers walking the dog was a bit of a challenge for us. ACs kept the cottage cool and comfortable. We had plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. Overall it was a nice stay.

This was a great place for our family of 4. All amenities were provided and the house was clean and was cozy and inviting too. We slept great in this super quiet area. Access to hiking trails right out the back door was a bonus. The best part was Scott, who was there to welcome us and made sure we had what we needed. Would definitely recommend!

Thanks Skip!! Glad you guys slept well and enjoyed your little family getaway to Cooperstown! Come back sometime in the summer and I'll take your boys fishing and tubing on my pontoon boat! thanks again! Scott
The house was just what we wanted. Close to town, walk out the door and start hiking, and of course Shoog the friendliest dog you will ever meet. Our own kids both two legged and four, had a blast. Scott was so attentive and helpful every second we were there while still giving us plenty of space. Would rent again in a heartbeat.
This was the perfect spot for a week of baseball at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The location was perfect. It is minutes from downtown Cooperstown and a few miles from the fields. Very quiet. Owner was a fantastic host. This was our best vacation in the past 10 years!

We loved Star Field Cottage!
We had a great time staying at the cottage. The owner was very responsive and accommodating answered all questions in a timely manner. The cottage was comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. The fire place was one of the highlights of cottage and we enjoyed it each night we where there. The hike up the mountain to Star field was energizing and although steep at the begining was so worth the effort once we saw the magnificent view of Otsego Lake! We would definitely visit again.

Thanks so much Bonnie! Glad you two were able to get out on the amazing Star Field hike!!!
Scott was always available if needed during the stay. He would check in daily to see if we needed anything. Check -in was simple. Overall great place to stay for a family.
Only concerns about the cottage is providing more hooks or racks in the bathroom for towels. Possibly a floor mat outside the shower to prevent slipping.
Overall great stay !

Mike & Taryn...Thank you for leaving the cottage so clean when you checked out. With a family of 6 and 2 dogs you certainly had a full house! I can see now where more bathroom hooks would help! Thanks for the idea. We do provide bath mats though, up on the shelving for use outside the shower! Glad you guys had such a great vacation! Scott

Disappointing
Cottage not in private location-sits on main road; unsafe stone steps to front door; old smelly furniture; dirty pans in cabinet; no bathroom upstairs. .

Cynthia, i’m so sorry that you didn’t like my Star Field cottage. I wish you had said something during your stay. I’m sorry about the pots that weren’t cleaned by the previous guest, we must’ve missed that somehow. A few furniture pieces are vintage antiques, but certainly not smelly, I double checked everything to be 100% sure. You’re the first person that’s ever commented about not liking my furniture accents. I would be happy to give you a refund if you would like. Please let me know. Scott
We had a wonderful time exploring the Baseball Hall of Fame. I would like to return and take advantage of other sites in Cooperstown and beautiful Otsego Lake.
Our stay in StarField Cottage was terrific! Scott and Shoog (his dog) were welcoming and extremely friendly, and we appreciated the fact that our dog was also welcome. Although the cottage is attached to the main house, we had all the privacy we needed. The kitchen is well stocked, we lacked for nothing. Everything in the cottage was extremely clean. The setting is beautiful -- although we didn't have cell phone service until we went into Cooperstown. Not a problem, just some friends and family couldn't get in touch with us. We hope to meet up with Scott and Shoog again!

Weeklong stay
We had almost no hot water in the shower the whole time we were there he did come to look at it and put a new filter in but it really didn't change much. I told him we were bringing my adult daughter and her school canine dog we have never been charged for her before we paid him cash on the property. Dogs are allowed there No fire pit no outside chairs no table that 4 people could set around the screened in porch either had windows that didn't open glass broke or holes in the screen. That would be the only place you would be able to sit and eat or play games. The picture must of been years ago we could not sit out there because of the condition of the windows . It was very hot in there we got one towel set for each person so I had to wash everyday. There is no place really to let the dog out just a spot weed whacked around the picnic table the house is just a few yards from a busy hwy. the beds were comfy but no door on the big bedroom or a privacy screen to change behind.
My brother and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cooperstown and surrounding region. The cottage was pleasant and comfortably furnished with a bright country kitchen and roomy bathroom with laundry. Towels were plentiful. Our only concern centered around the erratic hot water which was undependable for showering; it was at times a little too invigorating and not sufficient for washing one's hair. Also, we were unable to figure out how to operate the propane heater and couldn't locate any visible control to either turn it on or adjust what appeared to be a thermostat. We ended up relying on the infrared heater in the living room and turning up the baseboard heat in the bathroom and leaving the door open. Since the weather was turning colder this was important to us.
The property was attractive and nicely landscaped. There appeared to be a path leading up the hill to the rear, but we ran out of time to explore before the weather changed.
All in all we had a great time . The cottage was remarkably clean and tidy. The kitchen was reasonably-well equipped and plenty of A/C units for warm weather.
Cooperstown is a great little town and the people very friendly. Though the baseball theme is everywhere, there is plenty else to do and the arts are also prominent, as well as homage to the town's great namesake. And Mel's at 22 has consistently delicious food worth repeat visits. Finally, even if your not particularly a baseball fan, it is well worth going into the Hall of Fame. There is a special aura reflecting the history and personalities of over a hundred and seventy years of an American tradition.

Robert, thank you for the nice review, glad that you and your brother enjoyed your stay! I not wish you had contacted me about the hot water and heat situation as I would’ve been able to come over and fix it easily for you. I guess not having a cell phone makes communicating difficult for you. The propane heater in the living room had not been turned on yet as the weather has stayed warm through the early fall. The tankless got water heater just needed a flush as we have well water and mineral deposits build up after a while. Both issues have been rectified and problems solved. If you would like a refund please let me know okay? Thanks, Scott
Had a great time over a thanksgiving here. It’s a great location, the cabin is really cute, and homeowner is very helpful and responsive. Highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Very convenient to Cooperstown and other destinations. Scott was a welcoming host and made our stay very comfortable.
Starfield Cottage was quaint and well located between Cooperstown and CDP. It had great access to hiking trails, which our dog loved. Our family had a great time. Scott and Shoog were wonderful hosts.
My family had a wonderful time here while in Cooperstown for baseball. Very comfortable, and private home. Quick drive to CDP for games. Scott, our host, was so welcoming. He is very responsive and is nearby, should you need any assistance. His pup, Shug, is a gentle giant, who guided my kiddos on a hike up the mountain. Shug was a great bonus to our stay! Would definitely book here again!!
