Gorgeous view

The deck has the most gorgeous view of bay. Got to see some wildlife right from the deck. It in a great location not too far from a national park. I got to say it’s one of the best places I’ve stayed in the last three years I’ve been renting.

Beautiful location

Hancock cottage was quiet, serene, and lovely. It is a special place to truly unwind. The water views are breathtaking. We loved watching the birds and the sparkly water and the seal that visits at high tide. The beds are very comfortable and kitchen is adequately stocked. The home is actually quite spacious and open and very bright. We plan on booking next year !

Beautiful location

We enjoyed staying at the cottage. The location was tough to beat. We watched seals play from the porch, osprey snatching fish from the water, and eagles soaring above the surf. The kitchen was well stocked. We had all we needed for cooking and cleaning. Our host was responsive to our needs when supplies needed to be replenished. Our host was attentive and lovely. The cottage is cute, but it needed some deeper cleaning. We may have been the first guests in awhile, for the place needed some airing out. It had a strong odor and there was evidence of mice, especially in the basement bathroom. This may be an uncomfortable place to stay for people with intense allergies. That said, it met our needs and we enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely Gorgeous and Memorable Experience

My wife and I stayed here for our first stay in Maine. The property is within 45 minutes of so many hikes and things to do that aren't even inside Acadia National Park. The highlight was Judy's friend Bob. We called him up and he was able to hand deliver a couple of Lobsters that he had caught that morning in the dense fog for us to cook up that night. The cottage is old and you can tell but it just adds to the charm of the coastal Maine experience. Judy was great at communicating and making sure we knew that if we needed anything she would be available to fix it. I don't think we could have enjoyed our stay more unless the weather had been a little clearer but can't control that!

Relaxing Vacation in Maine

Wonderful Maine cottage on Frenchman’s Bay. Perfect for my family which was two couples. Loved eating our meals on the large deck, having time by the fire pit in the evenings too. The view is super! Kitchen had plenty to make our In-house meals easy. Lots of towels and essential items. New washer and dryer. I loved hearing the tide each morning and in the evening. We had a couple warmer days, but our host, Judy had fans for each room that was helpful. Judy was available to answer all my questions and make suggestions too! Loved visiting the nearby towns of Bar Harbor, Camden and Belfast. Acadia was wonderful and we did the sunrise one morning which was worth it for the whole family. The week flew by and we enjoyed our time in Maine.

HDBeautiful View

The minute we entered the cottage and looked at the view, we all said WOW!! The cottage was comfortable and really accommodating (4 adults). Judy Perry, who owns the property, welcomed us shortly after we arrived and she is as warm as the cottage. She told us how to order lobster from Babe who anchors his lobster boat in the cove in front of the cottage, suggested restaurants and things to do. We fully enjoyed Ironbound Restaurant and Finns, an Irish bar in Elsworth. Very different menus but both served wonderful food. We cooked lobster from Babes two nights. We spent several days in Acadia National Park and also went to Corea and Winter Harbor. We loved the "Quiet side" of Acadia - good shopping and not nearly the number a of tourists. Also some good hiking trails along the shore. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation and we will return some day soon. Peterson/Lindquist from Florida We would definitely return.

Waterfront Bliss

Words cannot accurately describe the beauty of this property. Located right on the ocean, the views are spectacular and we enjoyed every minute we spent here, taking in the sunrises and watching the lobster boats in Frenchman's Bay. We loved staying in Hancock, which is a nice distance from all the places we love to visit when in Maine Chippers Restaurant is right down the road and my husband enjoyed the Lobster Alfredo immensely. We find ourselves in Ellsworth and Bar Harbor often when we visit and this location provides a tranquility away from all the hustle. Judy is a wonderful hostess - very friendly, accommodating, and accessible. We very much appreciate any host who makes their property available to pets as well. While we have a pet sitter at home for our other cats, we were able to travel with our special needs cats. This provided a peace of mind for us and a memorable adventure for them. Thanks, Judy, for a wonderful week! Would highly recommend this house/location to anyone looking for the authentic Maine experience.

Lovely view of bay from porch

The best thing about this 3/4 bedroom house is its quiet, peaceful location right on the water. There is a nice large porch with lots of comfortable rocking chairs, flowers and a barbecue to enjoy. In the yard, there is a fire pit with chairs on the short walk down to the water. The unit itself is light-filled, (no a/c) although not totally updated particularly in the bathrooms if that's an issue for you (was not for us). We used the basement for one couple and their toddler, which did not have a door, but did give them some privacy and their own bathroom. The other 3 bedrooms are on the main floor. We were attending a wedding nearby and had 6 adults, which it fit comfortably. The kitchen is small but well equipped. Judy the owner was very accessible and friendly. She got back to us immediately when we contacted her.

Th cottage was all we hoped for. Clean, cozy, comfortable, with all the modern day conveniences.

Sunrises, birds, ocean views from every window, kayaking, lobster dinners, cool evenings, star gazing - all without ever having to leave the property. We rode our bikes every morning to the point. You can take the 10 mile route or the 6. We took a horse riding lesson at Double L's and had a lovely dinner at Crocker House Inn, both just 4 minutes away. We drove to Schoodic Peninsula, at Acadia, and had a picnic on the rocks. Lobster rolls left over from the lobster dinner the night before. Which by the way were caught that day and delivered to our door by the lobstermen who dock their boat in Jellison Cove!! I'm not kidding! We drove 20 minutes to Elsworth center, had a great lunch at Finns and I bought a great necklace made by a local artist at a jewelry store in the center. We can not imagine how this vacation could have been better. Thank you Judy, for sharing your piece of paradise with us. Best, Maggie and Charlie

Huge let down!

I will start with the only positive thing about the property and that is the view, it was absolutely breathtaking! The house was not ready when we arrived at the check in time which after traveling 8 hrs was disappointing. When we got inside the house it had a very strong unpleasant smell and was filthy. The kitchen had grease splattered on the stove and countertops, the carpet had hair and we even found pills on the floor in the bedroom. The main bathroom shower curtain had mold on it and the very first night the toilet wouldn't flush...yes, it had a second bathroom in the basement but it was extremely inconvenient. I contacted Judy at that time and she did have someone come the next day to fix it. We are not crazy clean freaks but it was filthy, we spent the first 2 hrs there cleaning! My recommendation would be to have the house "professionally" cleaned and invest in some comfortable furniture!

We are thrilled to have discovered such an awesome cottage for our vacation. It exceeded our expectations. The layout of the cottage and its wrap around decking maximizes the incredible views that must be experienced first hand! It was quiet and relaxing, just what we were looking for. We rode our bikes everyday on all the back roads in the area. The neighbors are very friendly and they even had their own neighborhood Fourth of July parade! We have already called to book our week for next summer and will decorate our bikes and ride in the parade, too! The property is well equipped and very well cared for. George, the caretaker is wonderful and will answer any questions you may have, day or night! You are in a secluded cove but close to Ellsworth for shopping and groceries. There is a wonderful smoke house nearby where we purchased awesome smoked salmon. We also visited the Bartlett winery, less than 30 mins away for a free wine tasting and used up our discretionary income for the week!! Amazing that my favorite taste was the most expensive wine available on the premises, a reserve oak barrel blueberry. The trio port was tasty, too. It was a blend of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. We went into Jordan's for our fried clam fix and took in their classic car cruise-in night complete with live music. The weather was cool and foggy but that just meant we enjoyed reading close to the lovely gas fireplace in the living room! We had planned to go hiking several days at Acadia Park but were enjoying our location so much that we didn't even make it to Bar Harbor.

Fabulous Rental

We absolutely loved this home. It was spacious - even bigger than it appears in the photos. The landlord was extremely responsive and helpful. The location is amazing - with several outdoor seating areas. It is so close to the ocean you feel you are aboard a boat when it is high tide. You can walk onto the beach from the house, through the yard, in about 30 seconds. Highly. recommend!
