If your looking for an inexpensive place to sleep with a great view and not concerned with a 50 minute drive to Acadia and a dirty dated house, this is the place for you. Otherwise, there was a lot not to be desired. House is nice on the outside but dated and dirty on the inside. Great potential but needs work like a new towel bar and toilet paper dispenser in the first floor bathroom and a toilet paper dispenser in the 2nd floor bathroom. Needs to be throughly cleaned and nasty towels replaced. Thankful to have a place to stay by the park when booked 3 weeks before our trip, but would not stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this vacation rental. The location was fantastic—peaceful, quiet, and with beautiful views and easy access to the Cove, which made for some great outdoor time. The house itself was spacious and had plenty of room for everyone to spread out comfortably. The host was very responsive and easy to contact, which we appreciated. There were a couple of drawbacks worth noting: we had some trouble with fruit flies during our stay, likely due to the season, and the living room furniture wasn’t the most comfortable. There was also a noticeable dog odor on the furniture Overall, the positives definitely outweighed the negatives, and with a few small updates, this place could be truly outstanding.

Mother/Son vacation

Beautiful location overlooking the bay. Sun rises were beautiful each morning with a seal visitor one day! 30-40 minutes to Bar Harbor, Acadia park-a must see and about 10 from Schoodic point (also Acadia park) and also a must see! Judy was super nice and had everything ready including fresh flowers upon our arrival!

Peaceful Rest

Nice area about 8 miles from Ellsworth. The property has all of the standard amenities. Deck outside has a good size propane grill. The views all look out onto the cove. It’s about 30-40 minutes to Bar Harbor and Acadia National park out on Mount Desert Island. Southwest Harbor is another place to visit with our favorite coffee shop Milagro. Call ahead and try to get a seat at Harbor Table SW. Helen’s in Ellsworth very tasty with a selection of eats for everyone.

Beautiful house, beautiful location!

My family had a wonderful time during our stay. The house was in a great location. It was right on the water with access very close for us to walk down and drop in our kayaks. The veiw of the bay was amazing and could be seen from several large windows! The house was very inviting, especially the master bedroom! The house is along the road but it is a quiet road, everyone in the area we encountered was very friendly. It took about 45 minutes to get to Bar Harbor and 1 hour to the tails we hiked in Acadia (MDI) and about 20 minutes to get to Schoodic part of Acadia. The ride is really easy though and we knew this when we booked! There are a number of things to do locally too! Look up the Frenchman Bay Conservancy! The owner was amazing and was always available! It was great to be able to reach her when we had questions. I would definitely recommend!

Amazing Place, Lovely Home, Gorgeous View

The location couldn't be better. It's a peaceful place with a gorgeous view. We were four adults, two children, a baby, and a puppy. This home was perfect for us. It had everything we needed. First of all the house was spotless, very clean and well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need, if you decide to cook. The master bedroom view is just out of this world. In our time there my daughter wanted to stay in the master bedroom all the time in the rocking chairs enjoying the view. At night, in my case I really enjoy the sounds of the waves when falling asleep. The owner Judy was amazing from the begin to the end. She checked on us and gave us excellent tips from kayak rental to where to buy fresh lobsters for an inexpensive price. Acadia National Park is a MUST to go. it is about 25 min from the house. It cannot be seen in one day. I recommend to buy the 7 days pass for cars ($25.00). This way you can drive through the park anytime during 7 days. If you are traveling with kids and plan to cook, don't take a lot of thing with you because there is a Walmart a short drive from the house. Bar Harbor is beautiful small city where you can buy great gifts and have the best ice cream. Maine is a perfect place to visit if you want to escape from a busy city life. Thank you Judy you are incredible! We loved your home and the time we spent there. Hopefully we can come back next year.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY!!

I have been debating making this review after reading the backlash of the property owner to all negative reviews. There were many excellent reviews and I’m not sure how they were obtained. Every previous negative review all the way back to 2016 are absolutely accurate! I just wished I had scrolled past the positive and read them all before booking! While the location was beautiful the house was in tremendous disrepair and filthy! Furniture was not only broken down and uncomfortable it REAKED of dog. We even purchased Febreeze which barely masked the smell. Animals had scratched the fabric of all living room furniture. Not to mention if you could tolerate the smell it was too broken down and uncomfortable! The floors were filthy as was everything inch of the house! No we did not contact Judy because after reading the other negative reviews and observing that it had not been resolved even now we saw no point in ruining our vacation further. We just cleaned it ourselves and went about enjoying our vacation. I must also mention that the dumpster outside was never emptied and animals got in it every night and strung it all over! We cleaned the cobwebs in every room and all the floors and the bathtub was especially disgusting. The lack of upkeep was evident when you walked in the door! After much consideration we realized that we had to prevent others from wasting their hard earned money on renting this place. Judy should be ashamed!

Excellent stay! Cozy house in beautiful surroundings. Whole family loved having a fire pit near the water!! Host had fresh flowers in every room. This was an unexpected delight! I would happily book this house again. Our family included myself, 4 grandkids in their twenties and a two year old.

Terrible

The place was filthy. Smelled of mold. The floors were dirty, kitchen sink was disgusting, hazardous extension cords running across the floors, TV situated on the floor, peeling paint, broken screen door and a huge dumpster with garbage strewn about for you viewing pleasure. Contacted the owner who thinks it is a gem. Wow...

Perfect for a family trip

House is right off the rocky beach with low tides that allow for scavenger hunts in the shallows. House is kid friendly, didn’t feel like our 6 year old would break stuff. Brought kayaks and could access the coastline. Didn’t see many other folks during our stay. Easy drive to Acadia and other fun spots. Small cottage next door would make a good larger group stay easy since the properties share the outdoor space and beach access.

A True Retreat

We arrived after dark at this house and were treated to a spectacular treat when we woke up as we were looking directly out at the ocean. The views here are gorgeous. We loved opening all the windows and feeling the breeze off the water and listening to all the sounds. The water is a short walk and a lot of fun to visit and search for shells and crabs. The check-in process was flawless and Judy called to check in a couple of times to make sure everything was going well. The home is equipped with everything one would need and also has a fire pit, which ended up being one of our favorite things - listening to fire crackling and waves hitting the rocks. The location is also great. It’s about 40-50 minutes away from Acadia National Park, but the drive is easy and there is so much to see and do along the way. Overall, we were extremely pleased and would highly recommend this home and Judy to anyone. The fresh flowers throughout the house were a nice bonus.

Good house, not the cleanest.

My family & I stayed at Judy’s home which is in the perfect location if you’re looking to spend time in Bar Harbor/Acadia (about 45 mins away). Judy called me upon our arrival to ensure a smooth check in. She also added fresh cut flowers throughout the house which was a nice touch! Not long after checking in, Judy texted me to confirm that there were no issues with the house - very thoughtful. You can follow a short path down from the house to the bay where you can swim. We had a pretty enjoyable stay at the house where we spent a lot of time BBQing and using the fire pit at night. During the day we were hardly at the house, so this didn’t matter too much to us but I feel that it’s important to leave in the review. There was poop in the toilet when we arrived, like someone had forgotten to flush and the toilet was not cleaned. There was also dirt/hair on the floor of each room that we swept prior to unpacking our things. We took care of these things and that was that. I do recommend this house but it could have been cleaner.

Incredible view

The view is incredible. We watched harbor seals, Eagles and loons each morning in front of the property. Bar Harbor is approximately 40 min drive and the same to the much quieter schoodic part of acadia. We had a few small issues on arrival but Judy was quick to work with us and did here best to resolve the issues. The beach is rocky as noted in the discription but full of shells and sea glass. A peaceful place to walk in the morning. If looking for a quiet place this is a good one.

Nice three bedroom with incredible views from the living room and master bedroom! A beautiful 45 minute drive to Arcadia National Park. During low tide you can walk down by the water. Lots of colors on the trees and the reflection off the water was amazing. Great communication with owner! She responded quickly and it was all taken care of.

Charming but outdated

While our group enjoyed the 9 day trip to Maine, the rental property had several unexpected inconveniences that were masked in the outdated photos posted on the advertisement. The pros: great location with amazing views, quiet and serene street that felt safe, reasonable drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor, and the property allows multiple dogs over 25 lbs (very hard to find.) The cons are many. The furniture, towels, and rugs are in a generally shabby and uncomfortable condition and need to be updated/replaced. When we arrived the house looked generally untidy, with dust on the shelves and in the corners and human hair scattered about. There are holes in the screens that allow bugs to enter the house, and several window blinds are missing the pull strings to raise and lower them. The master bath is not connected to the master bedroom, and should be labeled as an upstairs shared bath and not master bathroom. The Jacuzzi tub is too large for the water heater, and is thus unusable. The owner also had scheduled maintenance during our stay, for which we were only given 14 hours notice. She then proceeded to stay and interrupt breakfast rather than overseeing the work being done to the property. While we enjoyed the overall experience, the accommodations were not as cozy and comfortable as we had expected them to be.
