About this property
Authentic Adirondack adventure
Fashioned after the Adirondack Great Camps, our home features many elements of a more authentic Adirondack lodging. Rustic furniture, beds and railings make this two bedroom home a cozy retreat for 2-5 people. Situated on an 80 acre property, with 4500 feet of river frontage you can enjoy trout fishing, hiking, mountain biking, on our private trails, or just siting back and enjoying the cascading falls from our forward facing screened in porch. In season enjoy swimming in our private swimming hole as the crystal clear waters of our trout brook surround you with delight.
We have owned this property for 20 years and now with our children grown we would like to share this with others who love and appreciate the secluded, wilderness experience of an especially beautiful property here in the Eastern Adirondack region. We are located approximately 1/2 hour north of Lake George Village and a ten minute drive off the Northway.
The house is kept clean and tidy. You will always be greeted with fresh linens and towels. The bathroom and kitchen will provide for most essentials, tissues, toilet paper, bottled water and many other thoughtful touches to make your stay comfortable.
This property is rustic. Staying at Mill Rock Clove is an authentic Adirondack experience. We are NOT the Ritz Carlton and there is nothing fancy about it. Spaces are small and cozy. Much of the furniture is made by local artists using wood from our forests. The purpose of vacationing here is to rejuvenate your spirit, mind and body. It's about being in one of the most beautiful spots on the planet and absorbing the magical energy that is ever present. The property is on the site of a 19th century grist mill, and was a spiritual center for native Americans before that.
We are privileged to have spent a great deal of time on the property and honored to share it with others. We also realize that not every one will appreciate what is on offer here. If you are looking for perfect weather or a 5 star Ritz Carlton experience please look elsewhere. There is also very little night life in the area, unless you drive 30 minutes south to Lake George. The local restaurants are generally good, but modest in standards. Supermarkets are available within a 15 minute drive.
This is a vacation for people who understand what having an authentic experience in nature is all about. Much more comfortable than camping, and yet we strive to bring the beauty of the outdoors inside with large glass viewing areas, a comfortable spacious screen porch and original rustic furniture fashioned from local trees. The master bed is adorned by a large Birch Wood canopy which feels like you are sleeping in a forest grove. With a large oversized queen mattress good restful sleep after a day in the outdoors is hard to resist. Spend your days walking through our 80 acre private forest with 2 miles of private walking trails. In season relax in the stream and play in our private swimming hole. Fire wood is provided for both indoor and outdoor fire places.

Cabin/House was great. Very private with amazing views from deck of the river. As owner stated this is basic and simple house but really nice and had everything you need for a great stay. We walked on trail by river and made a fire pit and used the grill. Bed was comfortable and kitchen had all you neededBest part is just the beautiful land with amazing river .passing by and upper level porch that allows you to view the river. Really enjoyed stay and highly recommend
Stunning view! Extremely responsive.Water from tap is not good. Buy a lot of water before coming, the local store may be out and it is a drive to a well stocked grocery store. Definitely will be coming back here again
I rented this home with my husband and kids (two teens and an 8 year old) and we loved this home so much! It feels more modern rustic and you can tell that a lot of thought went into the decor. Every nook and cranny had fun details to explore. Our favorite memories were made relaxing on the enclosed porch swing listening to the stream and floating on the stream itself. We loved the firepit and hiking the path along the water.
We had a great time enjoying the beautiful scenery surrounding this Adirondack cabin. The view of the river from the screened in porch is spectacular!
Lots to do in nearby Lake George but you might not want to leave this peaceful retreat!

Margaret,
Thank you for your thoughtful review of our property. It was a pleasure hosting you and look. forward to your returning. Kurt
We spent 10 nights here. Great views and sounds from the creek. The screened porch was a favorite, and the privateness was much needed. For anyone skeptical of this property it does not disappoint and the pictures do not do it justice. We would love to stay here again. Thank you Kurt for the awesome vacation!
We had a beautiful view, quiet surroundings and an appreciated screened in porch. We enjoyed the decor in the cabin. Place was clean and everything worked as described. Will return if possible.
We had a great time at this cabin! We explored, played, and watched the brook. The view from the screen-in porch was breathtaking - we could have sat on the swing for days on end without complaint! We even got to meet Smokey, the friendliest neighborhood dog. The snow and the dog were definitely the highlight for our kids! It was the perfect location for a quick getaway. We can't wait to visit again.
We had a wonderful time. The pictures do not do the place justice. What a wonderful, rustic and perfect cabin in the woods. We are grateful for the experience and the opportunity to completely disconnect, breathe the mountain air and doze by being lulled by the melody of the creek and crashing waterfalls. We look forward to coming back again soon!

Summer vacation with family
The property is charming, the house has a history, and you can imagine the beautiful winters and summers the owners spent there with their family.
Unfortunately, our staying was affected by bad weather, almost 11 days out of 14 of rain. In addition, many mosquitos made it impossible to enjoy the property entirely.

Chiara, While I can sympathize with your vacation being hampered by rainy weather, I also feel somewhat blessed that unlike many other places in our country where at the same time people were suffering through floods, extreme storms, and unprecedented heat waves we were spared such life threatening conditions. Let's hope and pray that our nations weather will moderate in the second half of the summer.

We enjoyed our weekend on the creek. The view and access to the creek were excellent. Loved having a piece of property where we could bring our dog. It’s definitely a cabin with modern amenities like air conditioning and WiFi. Was very clean and tidy when we arrived.
We would have appreciated knowing what were accessible parts of the property/the hiking trail to be marked but we did plenty of exploring.
Be aware that would have to carry out your trash with you, wasn’t an issue with so many camp sites in the area, but worth noting.
Thanks so much for a relaxing weekend!
I loved the porch sitting in the air chair listening to the creek was so relaxing. It was very private and serene. The swimming hole was my husbands favorite, he swam everyday. Went white water rafting on the Hudson River with Square Eddy in North Creek. So much fun! The house was perfect for us. Thanks for sharing it with us - I can tell you have made many memories there.

Melina-Thank you for the kind words. We are very happy to hear that your vacation was relaxing and enjoyable. Please think of us again in the future. Kurt
Family of three including 2 year old and our dog spent a week in the summer. The whole setup is as advertised with a lot of fun extras - loads of outdoor toys for the kids, beach chairs, kayaks, etc to use. The swimming hole is amazing and great private trails. It gets buggy in the summer so the screened in porch is a life saver. Kurt was quick to respond to questions via text and through the app. Public beach at Schroon lake is close by, for restaurants check out Sticks and Stones.

Thank You Jeremy for your kind words and I am happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure hosting you, please come again. Kurt
The River View was spectacular and this is a completely private setting. The setting really was one-of-a-kind!!!! The residence is much like a camp rather than a house but we were more than ok with that! I enjoyed fishing 2 days on Schroon Lake. Easy boat or kayak access from the southern end of the lake is about 8 minutes from the house. We had a fire on an incredible scenic spot at the river bend in front of the house one night.
If you like the outdoors you will love this diamond in the rough. We sat on the screened in porch for hours swinging on the cozy swing, reading, watching the momma Phoebe feed her babies in the nest above our heads, listening to the river flow. It was just what we needed.
We spent time on Trout Brook, I played in the water, my husband tried to catch fish, we made a fire and sat by the stream. Private and quiet. The bed was comfy. Thank you for opening your home to us!
We had a fantastic time during our stay. The creek-front yard and screened in porch were beautiful. The listing description says "this isn't the Ritz", but I bet the Ritz would pay a lot of money for this property! We spent a lot of time on the rocks and walking the trails. Inside, the combined living room/dining room was much larger than expected, and was open to kitchen and the porch. Decor isn't modern, but we wanted an Adirondack style cabin anyway, so this house was perfect. Location is great too-close drives to Loon lake, Schroon lake, and Lake George. Little bit further up to Lake Placid and Whiteface area but still easy and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again

We are Vicky and Kurt. We purchased the property in 2002 and spent the summers and many weekends with our two boys enjoying summer and winter activities here. As a family we always loved the outdoors and the peaceful tranquility of the Adirondack park. Now that our boys are grown and starting lives of their own in other parts of the country, we feel it would be great to share this gem with others.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property the first moment we saw it. The amazing river views, the natural secluded setting became a source of peacefulness and an opportunity to rejuvenate and recharge from our normal hectic lives. This property will force you to relax, slow down and refocus your energies.
