About this property

* Beautiful Classic Adobe,Creative Retreat*

HACIENDA VISTA LEJOS Tucson, Arizona.

This charming vintage adobe house is located in the lush desert foothills area of Tucson, Arizona. Enjoy the feel of a small hacienda and old Tucson in a privately located house on one acre of beautiful natural desert. Awash with light, the large windows in the living room provide birding and wildlife viewing even from indoors!! The house was designed by architect Lewis Hall 1956, who also designed well known Tucson landmarks, including the Tohono Chul Tea House and Anthony's Restaurant.

You will find the Mexican courtyard style warm and inviting with lovely views from all the rooms, and every bedroom opens to the patio and pool. Awake to the sunrise over the Catalina Mountains from your bedroom!! The beautiful screened Arizona room with ornate ironwork provides extra dining space. You can enjoy the views from either the front patio or poolside patio. The 1800 square foot single level house has high living/dining room ceilings and saltillo tile floors throughout. Enjoy cozy winter evenings by the large fireplace. The house is tastefully and artistically furnished including original artwork. The deep 16 by 34 foot oval pool is great for swimming in the summer and provides a lovely oasis with palm trees and vines. The poolside patio is equipped with a grill and chimnea. The large kitchen is fully equipped and has a Mexican hand carved center island and plenty of cupboard space.

Down comforters, extra linens and everything you need is provided for the bedrooms. The large master bedroom has a ceiling fan, two closets and a private vintage bathroom with a large shower and tile bench. The master bedroom has a queen bed; two twins and another queen are in the other bedrooms. The second bath has a shower and full-size tub.

Other amenities include a TV/ VCR, CD player in the living room and TV in the master bedroom with basic cable TV, two car garage, washer, dryer, air conditioning, and central heating.

The house has the feel of being situated in the quiet countryside with beautiful desert and mountain views. Yet it is minutes away from all the city conveniences. Less than five minutes away is Tohono Chul Botanical Garden and Cultural Center, hosting birding, galleries, concerts and other cultural events. Casas Adobes center is minutes away with shopping, post office and fine dining. Foothills Mall, with theater, bookstores and shopping is only one mile. It is close to Tucson National Golf Course, Pima Canyon trailheads, and Catalina State Park, with easy access to Saguaro Park West and the world famous outdoor Desert Museum, Old Tucson, Ventana Golf Course and other area courses, and Sabino Canyon. Downtown Tucson and the University are about 10 miles where you can visit the fabulous Tucson Museum of Modern Art, many galleries, and the artist’s studio warehouse area. The museum offers guided tours through the historic district and barrios. Tucson’s Medicine Man Gallery hosts the largest collection of Maynard Dixon’s paintings and the at the University is the Center for Creative Photography that houses the Ansel Adams Collection of prints and negatives, as well as other contemporary collections and exhibits. The Northwest Medical Center is ½ mile away.

From the house you can walk to the neighborhood Mexican Restaurant or through the beautiful natural lush desert washes. This is a wonderful location for the perfect combination of nature and city. Coyotes, jackrabbits, woodpeckers, and other wildlife are abundant and frequent the yard. Perfect for Birders, Artists, Writers, and outdoor lovers!

An oasis in the desert
The home has a fantastic backyard aligned so all the rooms get morning sunlight and in the evening the sun sets behind the palm trees. The grassy area was an essential luxury for our dog who felt at home and relaxed during our stay.

Fabulous!!!
My husband and I were here for two weeks. Bonnie’s home has to be the most well stocked VRBO I have ever stayed in. We loved the courtyard, walking the neighborhood with our dogs, and the proximity to hikes, shops and restaurants. Bonnie was very responsive to every question we had. Do not hesitate to stay here.

Serene Retreat
We had the privilege to stay here for a one week vacation with family and friends during gem show. This house is truly a work of art. My favorite detail was the brick archway leading to the pool. Sadly we couldn't swim because it was too cold, but the view of the mountains was breathtaking. We spent many happy mornings enjoying breakfast poolside.The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals and our bed was comfortable. Overall, this is an excellent retreat for artists and those who appreciate the character of an older home. It's NOT a good fit for people who are afraid of a little quirkiness. Bonnie was very easy to communicate with, and I absolutely loved our short time living with her art work as well as her mother's.

Christmas vacation
The house is an older Adobe/Joseler home on acreage, quiet, great location for us and I love the architecture. Could use updating on bedding, and towels. The bdrms sliding glass doors need repair as well as the floor-to-ceiling wood blinds as they are brittle and fragile to falling apart. There is an amazing wood-burning fireplace but we were told not to use it, not sure if it is functional. The heating was not working and we had several days where we were freezing at 62 degrees, that said, the homeowner was very responsive and was going to purchase space heaters, but fortunately got an HVAC guy out to fix which turned out to be the thermostat and quickly fixed. The house has a nice sunroom or AZ room that leads to a good-sized yard and pool which isn't heated but would be great in the summer. All in all, it was what I expected, some issues but the location and style of the home were just right for us. The homeowner did agree to compensate us for the couple of days we were freezing, not sure what the compensation is as I haven't seen a credit on our VRBO or heard any more about it from the owner at this posting. I am taking a leap of faith the homeowner will compensate us as she stated in a text. I enjoyed our stay at the home even with the hiccups. Marie

Beautiful Holiday
Michigan and Colorado met in Arizona for Thanksgiving! This was a perfect place to escape the cold for a Tucson Thanksgiving. The house was very clean and inviting. Had everything we needed for a homemade Thanksgiving dinner! Neighborhood is very nice and you can take a very long walk right in the neighborhood. Close enough to grocery stores/restaurants but in the setting you feel far away in the desert. Bonnie was a great host and answered any questions quickly. Hope to be back someday.
