Beautiful and quiet location. Perfect for our family of 8 adults and 4 children. We all had our own space and great areas for being together. I really appreciated the large dining tables with plenty of dishes as sometimes this is a problem with large groups. We loved the pool and beautifully landscaped farm! If you like things pristine and well taken care of, this farm will not disappoint. The secluded area was wonderful; no noise. Wonderful sky, stars and Milky Way at night. We will definitely return.
Our stay at Julie's property was the perfect place for our small family reunion. Very peaceful and thankful to find such a place to make our special memories.
This beautiful and well kept property was an amazingly relaxing atmosphere for our reunion.
From the private lake fishing, the pool, & hot tub to the most elegant & functional kitchen imaginable, it was just perfect in every way
We really enjoyed spending time with family at this beautiful property. The pool and hot tub were big hits with both the kids and adults. The grounds were immaculate and the fishermen of our group loved the catch-n-release lakes. We did some hiking at Red River Gorge—a 50-60 minute drive to Natural Bridge.
Had a wonderful stay at Julie’s property. The kids all had a blast in the pool and there was everything you could think of needing. If you like to cook then you will be in heaven once you see the kitchen, very efficient. This is a great place to gather with friends and family, good fishing too 🙂
Beautiful property with lovely pool and gardens. Spotlessly clean and manager responded immediately to our 2 requests. Inside in need of furniture update but kids loved it.
Everything was great. Been going to rentals with a small group of friends for years and this one was one of the best rentals. Everything was perfectly described in the listing (no surprises when we checked in). We'll be booking again.
Great place to spend a summer week relaxing with friends and family. Very remote, which we loved - quiet, peaceful, lots of stars at night! Almost no cell service, but great internet. Host was good - very thorough, very welcoming . Was a little disappointed that the photos showed some beautiful buildings on the property which we learned were off limits when we received a waiver to sign two days prior to arrival.

Hi Louise, we were happy to host all of you here at Sunset Ridge. Just want to clarify a few things that you are mistaken about in your review. There is cell phone service in many particular areas inside and outside the home, as well as other places on the 50 acre property, including the woods, that you can call and text, as I explained upon check in. There is also high speed fiber optic internet where you have the option to do other methods of calling. The information about the access to the buildings on the property is listed on the first page in the description, along with the information about signing the lease agreement, which shows up immediately upon a request to book, and at the actual time of booking, as a document, so you would have seen it twice. You received another copy of the waiver 2 days prior to your check in, because you failed to sign the wavier that was required to be signed immediately upon booking, which was back in March. Here is a copy of the information provided when reading about the property “”Guest can access the entire private 50 acres and all of the bordering Daniel Boone National Forest, with the exception of: Chapel, chapel area & lawn, barn, 2 open sheds, metal building, & attached garage. *You must sign the rental agreement provided under Policies”” Generally when booking someone’s home, they do not give you access to buildings on their property. Your disappointment on these subjects, are of your own making, considering our policies, guidelines and information provided are very plain and simple, available upon viewing the property on VRBO, and extremely thorough and detailed. Hopefully when you are booking another property, you will read everything that is presented to you, so that you will not have to review a great property in a negative manner, considering your disappointment is due to your failure to comprehend the information so clearly provided to you.
We had a wonderful time! The pool and fishing on the two docks were the highlight of the trip!
We were in the pool morning, noon and night! The grandkids loved swimming in the dark!!
The kitchen was perfect for all of us.
All 15 of us were able to eat all our meals on the porch. We had a kids table and an adult table.
When it was really hot, we would stay inside and play card games, dominos, etc… at the big table.
Julie was extremely quick in getting back to us with any answers to our questions. She was very easy to work with.
The time just flew by for all of us. Thank you for giving our family a great vacation!
The property was perfect for our family of 15 to include 3 generations. The kitchen is stocked with anything that you may need. We had our meals on the outside deck and had no issues with bugs. The kids enjoyed the pool, the canoes in the pond and the fishing was good as well.
The roads to get to the property are very winding and narrow, but a good slow drive. The only drawbacks to the property is that you can hear everything in the house, kids having conversations on the floor above, people walking on floors and stairway. The other consideration is the distance from a store, it was a 25 mile drive to Walmart for some items we forgot and a better selection of produce and some other groceries. We would stay again it truly was very restful and a beautiful location.
We enjoyed our stay. Everything was nice. Kitchen had everything you would need and more. Bedrooms were all nice and spacious. Pool was up and going the end of March. The kids loved that. Our family loves the outdoors. They enjoyed fishing both ponds. Exploring and hiking. If we didn’t have other plans, we could have just stayed at the house and explored all there was to see right there. The hot tub had a very strong chemical smell. It did get better during our stay, but was still strong. It would be nice if the furniture was a little more comfortable. We like to relax and stretch out after hiking during the day. Most of the furniture are chairs. A few couches or lazy boys where you can kick your feet up would be nice. Other than that we had a great time. Julie answered all questions we had quickly.
We booked this trip 1 1/2 years in advance so we were excited to arrive. The farm is located far off of a major road. The final 3 miles or so were on a single lane road and we did see some farm animals along the way. Of course, the kids were most excited to pull in and see the pool. We were all a bit disappointed that the pool slide that was advertised was no longer there. We still enjoyed many hours in the pool and hot tub. Fishing was fun and some large fish were caught and released. The house was in great shape when we got there and I believe we left it in great shape. There were plenty of bedrooms and sitting space throughout the house. We also enjoyed the deck with the picnic tables and swing. There were a lot of toys for my 1 year old grandson and the older kids and adults enjoyed games of pool. The kitchen was a bit small in comparison to the rest of the house but it worked out fine. There was an abundance of cookware and cooking utensils. One thing we couldn't find was a pasta server/spoon! Other items we could have used were children's plates and more silverware, especially forks. With a large group and silverware in the dishwasher a lot, additional forks would have been nice. Once again, we did fine. In summary, we had a great time, the host explained things to my daughter who arrived first and we had no real issues. Would definitely recommend this property for large groups.
The property is beautiful and well maintained. It accommodated our group of 20 quite well. Some pics are outdated. A comment I kept hearing was I thought the pool had a slide, I saw one in the pics…. The only negative thing I can say is the floors are VERY creaky which is particularly noticed in the two lower bedrooms. If you pick one of those, be the last to go to bed or wear earplugs to sleep! Also, if you’re bringing groceries, I would recommend a cooler for drinks unless they’re already cold as the refrigerator struggled to cool off all the stuff that was warm.
In the middle of nowhere a quiet beautiful piece of country. Owners were over the top . Fans on the porches would have helped to tolerate the hot weather. Our whole family enjoyed the beautiful pool.
The perfect retreat for a large family to unplug and come together!
My family had the pleasure of making this beautiful 50-acre farm our home for the Christmas holiday. It can be a challenge to find a place that feels like home and sleeps my entire immediate family (in-laws and kids included; 16 people) comfortably, but this cabin had everything we needed. Julie greeted us upon arrival and gave us a quick walk-thru of the property. She was very welcoming and kind!
We enjoyed s’mores with the kids by the fire pit and conversations on the upper deck on the swings. The kids enjoyed board games and dancing in the Great room. The kitchen was fully equipped for all of our culinary needs; waffle maker, griddle, mixers and more, so meal-making was a breeze. The beds were very comfortable and extra linen/towels were in abundance.
I highly recommend this property if you are looking for peace of mind and relaxation.
We had a great time relaxing with our large family. Spent lots of time in the pool and porches playing cards and doing puzzles. The older kids enjoyed evening time in the hot tub. Spacious enough for everyone to spread out and enjoy a peaceful week. Grounds and flowers are beautiful. We had a day of family olympics on the patio and front yard. The kids did a kayak cave tour and we all hiked to the Natural Bridge in the Daniel Boone park. Julie was great to work with and greeted us and on the first day to show us how to use everything.
Julie’s property was amazing. I traveled with three teen children, my spouse, his mom, my parents, best friend and her two teens and parents. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space but also to gather and visit. The weather was perfect for the pool or deck. Julie was very receptive and quick to respond back with questions. There were tons of towels and washer/dryer available to do your own laundry if needed. The location is quite rural so getting into even a small town takes at least one hour. The closest small grocery store is 30 minutes away. We all had a great time and loved the experience and time together.
We enjoyed everything about this property. So much room inside and out. The beds were comfy. The appliances all worked. The kids loved all the toys and claimed the upstairs bedroom and loft as their own. The pool was open in March which was a nice surprise. The owners were easy to work with and very responsive.
My family of 5 and another family of 4 came together Thanksgiving week to rent this wonderful property. We were looking for a place that was secluded, in nature, and was big enough for all of us to sleep and spend time. This property delivered and then some. The property is so serene and relaxing. Absolutely beautiful grounds and was extremely well kept. We hiked around the property, fished in the pond almost every day, utilized the hot tub, and roasted marshmallows by the outdoor fire pit at night. We did some research on hikes in nearby Daniel Boone Forest and Red River Gorge which we would venture to every day. Julie was a fantastic owner. She was extremely communicative and answered any question we had. She was so easy to work with and we so appreciated that. We were traveling for Thanksgiving so she answered any kitchen type questions for us which helped us prepare the food that we were going to bring and any preparation we needed for cooking it day of! Overall, great experience and great memories for our family!
