Ladies get away

We went to the cabin for a ladies get-away weekend (5 of us) and it was perfect! We lounged, sat on the back porch and caught up, hung out in the hot tub, and watched movies from the healthy collection of provided DVDs. A trip to relax and unwind, would be back again for sure!

Great cabin in a beautiful area. Everything was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Everything was provided in home and kitchen. Hot tub was clean and very relaxing. We loved the peace and quiet and its proximity to Banner Elk, Boone and Grandfather Mountain. Thank you!

Wonderful place

This was a great cabin with everything we needed for the weekend. There was a lot of helpful info in the binder there. The bed is very comfy downstairs. Everything was very clean. If the hot tub can eventually increase in temperature for a future visit I will definitely try and book this cabin again when I go visit family. Thanks for letting us stay!

Great cabin and outdoor adventure

We arrived late but took our time and had no issues because we followed Rebecca's directions. The cabin is clean and comfortable. The cabin had anything needed for staying in to prepare a meal and have fun with games or just watch a movie. During the day we explored the property and it's beautiful! Great place for kids to have adventures and lots of fun! The only negative (which if you like secluded it's great) was the distance to town (about 20 minutes) so go prepared to stay and enjoy all that this property has to offer!

Truly home away from home!

My family and I stayed here for the week after Christmas. I have stayed in a lot of fabulous B&B's, nice hotels, but this cabin was the best. I never longed for any of the comforts of home -- because they are all here! The couch and fireplace were very cozy. Good wifi and Roku apps on the TV. I cooked several nights and every cooking item you might need was available. Having a washer and dryer was super convenient. The hot tub was awesome. The water pressure in the shower was great and the beds were comfortable.I had a couple questions for the owners and they were super responsive and helpful! It even snowed while we were there! Quiet, secluded but only 20-30 from anywhere you want to be! Highly recommend!

Very nice place

Overall experience is great. The kitchen has everything you need and more. Bedrooms are spacious and clean. So for the bathrooms. Heating system, jacuzzi and BBQ all in working order. Great views all around the property. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the entryway to the property which is a little challenging.

Lovely little cabin

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Well supplied kitchen. There was even a Christmas tree and other holiday decor!! Hot tub was great. Very clean and organized. Towels were fresh! Gas fireplace very nice to have. Owner extremely responsive to questions. Definitely need 4 wheel drive or chains for driveway if snow or ice.

Stunning

We rented this place for our little family for Christmas vacation. The views are amazing and the waterfall and stream are absolutely beautiful. The cabin is stunning and was very clean. Sugar mountain, beech mountain, and grandfather mountain we're all in an 45 minute range from this cabin. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. We will be back during the summer as winter months are really cold here. This was our first trip to the NC mountains since we live at the NC beach and was not disappointed.

Magical!

We absolutely loved our stay at Bearclaw Cabin! It’s a bit of a drive on small roads up the mountain (soooo very worth it), yet still convenient to many locations. The cabin itself has lots of homey touches and is nestled into the side of the mountain, almost making you feel like you are just a part of the forest. It was the peace and quiet we were searching for! The guest directory was full of great information on the cabin itself and places to visit/hike in the area. Communication with the host was excellent. Perfect for our family, we will definitely stay again!

Ripped off

I was charged 150 dollars extra for problems that didn't exist in any way. "A candle torn with something sharp" "Hot tub cover torn with something sharp" "Excessively dirty" "Exceeded occupancy" "Something about a decorative sailboat" All lies. Nobody used any "sharp blades" Never even saw any sailboat. Didn't use throwing knives on hot tub cover. Did all of the dishes. Took out the trash Removed bedclothes as instructed In my note from owner they included their occupancy limit of 6 people and was told we exceeded that. If my math serves me correct 2 adults 3 children 1 infant Last I checked that adds up to 6 Do not rent this house although it is a great property. Owners will rip you off as they did me. Note to owner: If you are hurting for money then increase your rental fee. Definitely do not create a laundry list of lies in order to charge me 150 extra dollars. You are terribly sad people

This is a beautiful secluded cabin. Very nicely decorated. We had a great time just relaxing on the porch swing, hanging out in the hot tub and we spent a few hours around the fire ring. The nearby town of Banner Elk is a very nice place to visit, and we had two delicious meals there. Thank you for letting us rent your cabin !

Summer Mountain Family Vacation

We brought our children on a summer vacation to experience the beauty of the mountains. We live near the coast. We loved the incadescent beauty of Bearclaw Cabin. We felt renewed and we enjoyed hiking and the lovely pond onsite. We enjoyed our time at Tweesie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain and Mystery Hill. We also enjoyed local shopping at Apple Hill Store, downtown Banner Elk and downtown Boone.Furthermore, we all gathered around the campfire at night, told ghost stories, roasted marshmallows and made S'mores.Additionally, we swam at Laurel Creek Falls and enjoyed the majestic beauty of the waterfall. We would LOVE to return to Bearclaw cabin one day!

Mountain paradise

Up and down and all around. I never thought we would get there but, well worth the wait. This property has everything you'll need. We walked around, and went to the waterfall on property. We played in the creek by the pond. We even found some great rocks. The alpine coaster was super fun for everyone. We went gem mining and had a blast. Wish we could have stayed longer but this was a 3 day stop on the way to Carolina Beach. We got mountains and beach on this family vacation.

David and I are Raleigh natives that enjoy retreating to the cabins as much as our guests. We are constantly striving to make the cabin more comfortable for family gatherings, fully equipped to entertain friends, and romantic enough for a getaway for the two of us. We are confident that you will fall in love with the property as much as we have!

Why they chose this property

While searching for the perfect cabin for us, I had decided that the Banner Elk area was the setting that I most enjoyed. Close to shopping and dining, but not over done or over-priced like so many nice mountain communities. The realtor showed many a cabin and there was cabin that I had truly liked, but just did not fill the desire that I had created in my mind’s eye.
There was a local “For Sale by Owner” opportunity, but I did not take it seriously because the owner had two cabins and wanted to sell them together. I had settled on one cabin and wanted to buy outright and not take on a mortgage. The gentleman agreed to meet in Sugar Grove at the post office and lead us to his cabins for sale. The first thing that struck me was how the drive up the back side of Valle Mountain was so beautiful. This is starting out on a nice tone, I thought to myself.
We pulled up the driveway and in front of the Treehouse Cabin. Nice setting, clean property, pretty cabin and then I opened the door. The symphony of falling water that welcomed me this early spring day was so overwhelming to me. My immediate thought was I must own this property and I had not even looked inside one of the cabins.
The cabins were in excellent condition and, although in need of a redecorating, provided a strong foundation on which to build. After touring Treehouse, we walked to the waterfall, along the stream, and down to the pond. The topography and natural rolling of the property was food for the soul.
On to the Bearclaw Cabin, where I was shocked to find that it had its own source of natural charm. The separate, gorgeous stream that can be seen from Bearclaw’s back deck provided its own surround sound. You can hear the stream from Bearclaw’s deck 365 days of the year. It is a healthy, vibrant courier of natural mountain water. Little did I know at the time that particular stream would be the source of our favorite family picnic spot, swimming for the kids, as well as fishing.

What makes this property unique

The Bearclaw Cabin is our family’s favorite cabin. While we enjoy the sophistication and romance of Treehouse, Bearclaw has an ease that is unmatched. The openness and closeness of the kitchen, den, and back deck make us feel like we are never far from one another and we enjoy the interaction in this comfortable, relaxing lodging. Once a meal is prepared, be it in the kitchen, on the grill, or over the firepit the transition to the dining table, the coffee table in front of the gorgeous LG flat screen to watch Downton Abby in HD, the table on the back deck to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and listen to the nearby stream, or the wooden table right off the fire pit while a fire roars make many easy options for whatever we find ourselves in the mood for. The sunken hot tub provides a perfect setting to watch the stars, enjoy the snow, or the cool mountain air. We love to make a picnic lunch then head to the stream that is a three minute walk from Bearclaw and enjoy the beauty that nature has provided.
