Family Getaway

My partner, all our siblings & their partners (all in our 20s) booked Rita’s cottage for a siblings weekend and it was great. The property is beautiful with lots of space for outdoor activities. The weather wasn’t on our side for our stay but the cottage itself has a great layout, more than enough space for the 9 adults in our group. The cottage is clean & in great condition and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything we needed. Rita as a host was really responsive. It was an all around great stay

A Wonderful Large Cottage

This huge cottage has great views of the lake and peaceful green surroundings. We saw 3 beavers swimming near the dock. The cottage was very comfortable - air conditioning plus overhead fans, 3 bathrooms, a well-stocked kitchen and table tennis and board games. A dishwasher would have been good. The lake was great for quick dip.

Beautiful lake view cottage

This lakeside cottage has a beautiful lake view, especially in the evening. It has a private dock, which is good for water activities. The house is immaculate. Everything is clean and tidy. We cooked our food during our stay and the kitchen equipment was complete. There is a large grassland in front of the house, and we saw wild geese, beavers, and birds there. There are also a lot of beautiful lakes nearby, we enjoyed our stay very much.

weekend family birthday gathering

Cottage was comfortable, well equipped and spacious on well kept awesome waterfront property with an excellent long dock. Lake was good for boating, canoeing and paddle board. Water was still cold for swimming. Had fun game night with table tennis and poker table. Great spot for family weekend, quite secluded from neighbors.

Lovely Lake House!

Highly recommend this gem of a home if you want a quiet, relaxing stay on a beautiful piece of land! The open layout is perfect with a roomy kitchen, eating area and spacious great room. My two teenagers appreciated the loft with the TV and the basement for games/ping pong. We had almost no boat traffic on the Lake in August so the water was calm, peaceful and perfect for floating and fishing. Rita is SUPER and responded to every question promptly. Note that there is no dishwasher so bring paper plates if you prefer and the canoes/ kayaks in the backyard are not available to renters but you can reach out to Frontenac Outfitters to rent canoes/kayaks and life jackets. Hope we can return one day!

Short Getaway

Quiet location with a pleasant view of the lake. Had a few issues with cleanliness involving the bbq grill, kitchen floor and fridge that were addressed to the owner. Overall our group of 10 had a good stay, however, the home could use a few updates and fixes. The owner was very responsive and easy to communicate with.

Great location

We had a wonderful stay. The road in was beautiful and very well maintained in the winter. The cottage/house was super clean and everything was as advertised. Rita was a great host. The lake and view of the sun rising over FPP was amazing. Walked and snowshoed down the lake. Lot's of blue jays, chickadees and junkos, but also saw a bald eagle and three trumpeter (we think) swans fly down the lake. It was very quiet, and would love to return to canoe and hike through the park.

Great break from city living

Good internal cottage layout with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms to accommodate a larger, mixed family and big kitchen and shared living space areas (family room, upper loft and downstairs game room with brand new card and ping pong tables). Some small issues with defective windows and leaking rowboat, but well handled by owner. Lake is more for fishing and exploring than swimming but it is very clean and quiet. Great swimming and trail access just 15 minutes away at Frontenac Park.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

The property is amazing and cozy. Water isn’t so great for swimming but it’s doable. There is also a lake 10 minutes away from the house which is great for swimming and docking boats. The owner is very responsive. There was a fire ban during the time I went but owner was aware and notified us ahead of time. Had to take back recycling, which was a bit of a hassle. The house was clean for the most part but could use a bit more of a better & deeper clean. Would definitely come back next summer!

Great property but need a deep clean

Great property in a very quiet area—perfect for a team retreat. The remote location offers abundant wildlife and an excellent spot for stargazing. However, the property could benefit from a deep clean. Two of the bedrooms had bedding with a strange odor and suspicious stains. The blankets in the closet also had stains and smelled musty. We even found a sock between the sofa cushions and a broken popsicle left in the freezer from previous guests. Additionally, there were quite a few mosquitoes and flies, so be sure to bring bug spray. On a positive note, the property owner, Rita, was very responsive. During our stay, we experienced a power outage, and Rita promptly updated us on the status. One important note: Telus and Bell don't have signal at the property, but Rogers and its affiliates do. Overall, despite a few cleanliness issues, it was a good retreat for me and my team.

Fun and Relaxing Getaway

We had a really terrific one-week stay and we wished that we had booked longer. The Property Owner was really helpful, answering all of our questions before we arrived. The property is situated on a shallow lake with really warm water; are a lot of reeds in the water, but the water temperature and the abundance of fish totally makes up for it. Our two 8 year olds had a blast fishing from the dock (where you can see tons of fish just swimming around) and also spent hours just jumping off the end of the dock and swimming back to the ladder. You get access to several boats with the rental including 2 canoes, a kayak and rowboat. Just a 10 minute paddle away is another large lake with crystal clear water and rocky outcrops along the shore that abuts the Provincial park. This lake was amazing for swimming as well, and we would regularly see turtles sunning themselves as we paddled over to that lake. The cottage is very well equipped, with a nice big deck. An unexpected but really nice surprise were the birds: The owner has set-up birdhouses on the property including on the balcony off the master bedroom. Constant and lovely sound of birds chirping during the day, frogs on the lily pads at night and loons on the lake singing us to sleep. The kids told us that this was their favorite get-away ever. We will we back for sure.

Perfect family cottage!

We recently spent two weeks at this cottage on Kingsford Lake. Rita was so helpful, quick to respond to my questions and attentive to everything. The cottage is very well maintained. The cottage is lovely - it is very clean, well cared for, with lots of room for a multi-generational family holiday. The kitchen is very well equipped with loads of dishes, pots, utensils etc. for a large group. Note - there is no dishwasher. There are basic supplies in the kitchen cupboards like spices, flour, cooking oil etc. which is always appreciated. The beds are comfortable and linens are good. It is very nicely decorated and makes for a comfortable base to explore the area. The lake is very quiet and peaceful - very few motorboats. Having two canoes, a kayak and rowboat make for a really good time on the water. The fishing on this lake is excellent as previous reviews have mentioned. There is good access to trails in Frontenac Park (and parking) just down the road. There is no internet and cellular service is spotty in the area, but we appreciated the chance for everyone to spend less time on their phones - there is lots to do at the cottage indoors and out including board games, ping pong, PS-3 player, movies, and it is fun spending time canoeing and exploring the area visiting Westport, Newboro etc. We had a wonderful time!!

First impressions

Upon our arrival, we found the kitchen and the fridge not as clean as we expected. The location of the property is far from everything. The rest of the property was large and confortable. Must of the utside windows were covered with dead bugs. Being so far in the forest, there was nothing to do on the property except to play game. The bathrooms were very nice and cleaner. The basement was very cold and humid. We slept in the basement. We were could all the time. The basement, otherwise , was very nice.

Lovely location and cottage, cleanliness lacking....

First off I will start by saying I have run cottage resorts for years, so I understand how hard it can be to find staff. This cottage is massive and for the price is a great rental, my gripe is with the cleanliness of the cottage. To start I found discarded kleenex in the bed clearly the sheets had not been changed, the washrooms also had hair etc all over the floor so again nothing had been cleaned. The fridge still had prior renters food some of it rotting in the freezer.....Whats worse is that we were given early check in because the cleaners where done early....Rita was very apologetic and I do not fault her however when paying almost 600 a night at the very least I would expect the place to be clean. Other small things, if its hot outside you will cook inside as the owners have not added any shades or blinds to the massive windows. The AC unit did its best but not a chance when the sun it out. The patio furniture was lacking as well, zero shade or usable umbrellas. Which such a lovely deck its a shame..Unfortunately its these little items that go a long way and would help renters want to return the next season. The lake is stunning for canoeing, so bring your canoe if you can. There is not much swimming going on in the lake as its quite weedy but don't let that turn you off. You can find areas to swim if you have a boat. Our crew are pretty easy going so we still had a great time inspite of the cleanliness.

Sisters Getaway

Cottage Pros: lots of hot water, good beds upstairs, lovely showers and bathrooms. The view is lovely, we were able to see deer, a blue Herron, geese, a beaver on the water. The lake is covered in beautiful lily pads and the flowers were lovely. This house is a good size for a group of 8 and it was private and quiet. Cons: A dishwasher would have been nice and the cupboards could have been better labeled plus we didn’t have anywhere to put our groceries. We had the luxury of having a wonderful sister who was a great chef and she was very disappointed with the kitchen. No sharp knives, for chopping. The basement was not sufficient for adults to sleep because there was no storage or hooks to hang a towel or anything else. The humidifier should have been emptied and started again as the basement was very damp and we encountered spiders. We figured out how to start it and then the basement was much better for sleeping. When we arrived one bed downstairs had sheets that were not dry. I had to remove them and put them in the dryer. The house could have used a deep cleaning, the view was lovely but windows were dirty. The balcony off the living room and master bedroom had a spongy floor and felt unsafe. The A/C was installed and we enjoyed that for sure as the big windows bring in so much heat. I would recommend that blinds be installed so that the A/C doesn’t have to work so hard. We are a family of 8 sisters and we did enjoy our stay. Lots of room and the 3 bathrooms were wonderful the beds were comfortable. Wildlife and views were lovely.

Beautiful cottage close to Frontenac Provincial Park

Beautiful cottage located in a peaceful area. Very quiet and serene. The drive there is amazing. The cottage contained all amenities that you'd need. The place could use a deep clean, especially the balcony, patio, and backyard, but we had a great time. The lake isn't great for swimming, but you may kayak or canoe. Rita was very responsive and a great host. Carry a lot of bug spray!
