Perfect, quaint summer cottage

Good layout with minimal updates that don't spoil the charm of this historic cottage and surrounds. Photos do not do this property justice.

Quaint cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Biscoitos cottage, it had a authentic Azorean feel with the red tile floor, exposed frame roof/ceiling and stucco exterior. The views of the fields and to the sea were stunning and the proximity to the town and ocean were perfect. We were able to walk every day to a small bakery, have a nice stroll along the ocean and dip our toes at the beach. It was magical. The cottage was well outfitted for two, with a lovely fireplace, small kitchen with everything you might need to cook with and the grounds to spend the day soaking up the views and sun. We hope to return to this spot one day, we adored it.

Renters beware 🕷️

We had initially chosen to book this house for my father, who is in his 60s and appreciates simplicity. The property appeared to be a perfect fit in terms of price and size, catering to his needs. However, upon his arrival, it became evident that the house did not match our expectations and appeared vacant and poorly maintained. The neglected yard added to the disappointment. Later that evening, when my father returned to settle in, he discovered that the porch light was not functioning. Given the limited lighting around the house, this made him feel unsafe. As he stepped inside and sat on the couch, he was greeted by an excessive amount of spiders and webs all over making him extremely uncomfortable, as he couldn't determine the potential danger associated with these spiders. Consequently, he made the decision to leave the house and seek alternative accommodation for rest of his 15 day stay. The next day, I contacted the owner to address these issues. Unfortunately, her response lacked empathy and understanding. While she offered a partial refund, it only covered a quarter of the amount we paid. Despite explaining the inconvenience and discomfort this situation had caused my father, she displayed little concern. Overall, our experience with the property's condition and the owner's lack of empathy left us disappointed. We hope that this review will serve as constructive feedback and inspire improvements for future guests

Schön ruhig und gemütlich

Tolles kleines Haus mit viel Charme. Da wir etwas kältere Tage erwischt haben, haben wir den Kamin angeheizt und hatten damit ein echt romantisches kleines Idyll. Die Umgebung ist toll mit dem Lavafeld am Meer das zum Baden einlädt. Es fehlt etwas na Restaurants in unmittelbarer Umgebung, man kann aber einfach in der gut sortierten Küche selbst kochen. Alles super.

Sehr gemütliches Haus in wunderbarer Lage

Das Haus liegt zwischen unbebauten Grundstücken von drei Seiten quasi auf dem Feld. Vorn verläuft die Strasse zum Hafen, die aber wenig befahren ist. 5-10 Minuten zu Fuß die Strasse runter kann man Schwimmen und findet eine Strandbar; 5-10 Minuten die Strasse hoch kommt man ins Dorf mit Supermarkt, Restaurant und Geldautomat. Das Haus ist ein Altbau mit dicken Mauern, einem schön großen und gemütlichen Wohnzimmer mit Kamin sowie Küche, Bad und Schlafzimmer. Es gibt WLAN, die Küche ist voll ausgestattet. Durch die riesigen Palmen vor dem Haus und die dicken Wände ist das Haus ein wenig schattig, dadurch aber auch nicht heiß innen. Man kann hinter dem Haus wunderbar draußen sitzen, so dass für alle Bedarfe gesorgt ist. Wir waren zu zweit für zwei Wochen da und würden gern wiederkommen.

Excellent location and stay

The house was lovely and clean. The owner was helpful and available to answer questions during our stay. A walk to the natural pools down the road was a perfect way to end each day.

Alexandra, Já podamos a trepadeira que estava a a tapar a janela da cozinha e da casa de banho, agradeço o seu comentário. A cozinha é simples mas todos os electrodomésticos são novos, é muito funcional. Esta casa sempre foi uma casa de férias tipicamente de campo, não é uma casa típica de "cidade".

This house was very nice, however, it was also quite dark and cold. The only source of heat is a wood burning fireplace, which we actually loved, but may be a bit difficult for others. It is in a good location. We loved the pools nearby and also Pedro's Restaurant within walking distance. The owner was kind and helpful.

Uma casa linda. Ideal para relaxar. Muito bem decorada e de uma forma simples... da maneira que gostamos porque a vida é simples, basta querer. Com condições exemplares até nos pequenos pormenores que nos dá um ambiente aconchegado, ou melhor, sentimos em casa. Situada numa freguesia (Biscoitos) idílica onde se sente o mar "violento" do norte mas ao mesmo tempo ... a paz de estar "longe de tudo". Esta casa defende bem o conceito de "HomeAway" porque sentimos em casa apesar estar longe. Recomendamos vivamente! Michael Godinho e Helga Estrela. A wonderful house. A great place to sit back and relax. Very well decorated in a simple way ... just the way we like it because life is simple, all you got todo is try. A house with great conditions even in the smallest aspects that gave us a cozy atmosphere, in other words, we felt like we were at home. Located in the picturesque parish of Biscoitos where you can "feel" the strength of the Atlantic Ocean but at the same time the peaceful surrounding giving you the sensation that you are far away from everything. This house definetly honors the concept (title) "HomeAway" because you do feel at home even though you are away. We vividly recommend this house! Michael Godinho & Helga Estrela.
