About this property
Unique opportunity to live in a Renaissance palace
By staying at Coronari 120, you’ll experience the unique opportunity to live in a Renaissance palace, in a street that is one of the very symbols of Rome. Via dei Coronari, indeed, is one of the oldest streets in the city. It was built in Roman times to connect the long-gone Pons Neronianus bridge (which remains you can see by looking over the railing on the Vittorio Emanuele II bridge and down in the river Tiber) and the Stadium of Domitian, now Piazza Navona. It became known in the Middle Ages as Via Recta, because of his straight path. When Pope Boniface VIII promoted the very first Jubilee of the Church, the road became one of the main ways towards the Vatican, and pilgrims in the tens of thousands walked down it every day.
The name Via dei Coronari, eventually, chose to address the many shops of those who sold rosaries and religious images to the walking faithfuls. This long history reflects in the building you’ve just entered: on its ground floor, this 16th century property probably housed a inn servicing the many travelers. As a matter of fact, it looks like those who stayed here complained about the amount of light coming in from the windows, so a papal bull addressed the issue and ordered to wall them up, which is why the façade has its peculiar appearance. In addition, the painter Raphael himself lived right next door, before moving across the river when he was appointed head of the renovation works in St. Peter’s, while it’s very likely that Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy, stayed around these parts when visiting Rome between 1300–1301. History is literally at every step here!
For the reasons listed above and out of respect for the local regulations on conservation, Coronari 120 is a listed building, so this is why (for instance) the property couldn’t be fitted with an elevator. On the other hand, every effort has been made to include all possible modern comforts in the accommodation: all bedrooms feature A/C, all TV sets are smart-tvs, a washer-dryer will be there for all your laundry needs while in Rome and a free WI-FI connection is offered to all guests. At the same time, the apartment has maintained its original front door, its coffered ceilings and window blinds, which were carefully restored. Wooden floors are in every room except for the bathrooms and kitchenette. A large living room-cum-dining room is connected to the latter, which is fully equipped and features, among others, a dishwasher, stove and oven, a microwave oven, an automatic coffee machine, crockery, kitchenware etc.
The apartment, which can sleep up to 5 people, has a master-bedroom with ample closet space, and may we attract your attention to the lovely, en-suite toilet that is concealed in the wardrobe itself? Another larger bathroom is fitted with a shower. Look out for the second bedroom with two single beds, plus a comfortable sofa, couch and armchair. All beds were recently upgraded, to provide greater comfort.

The house was very clean, it was a a very convenient location and Tommaso gave us excellent instructions about the house and the area. I highly recommend!!!
Beautiful large apartment near city center and the Vatican. This is the chance to stay in a historic home with original vaulted ceiling and wooden doors.
This was my best VRBO experience ever......from reservation, to check in, until check out. The location was amazing and the apartment was exactly as described. Appreciate the support from the team prior to and during our stay. Strongly recommend for anyone interested in staying in Rome.
Spacious Renaissance style apartment in a fantastic location close to Vatican, Pantheon, Campo di Fiore, Piazzas, Spanish steps, restaurants, shopping etcManagement was super prompt in responding to any questions or needs!!
The host was extremely prompt and made check in very easy. The location was very convenient - amazing restaurants, gelato, and music nearby. It was also easy to get to major sites in Rome. We loved this apartment and would love to stay here again!
We spent 4 days in Rome in this comfortable and beautiful apartment. It was the perfect size for our family of 5. The kitchen was great for coffee and breakfasts and the location was the best. Air conditioning was great to have during our very hot summer stay. In between the Vatican and Piazza Navona we could walk to everything. Great restaurants nearby and the gentleman who runs the leather shop across the street was very nice too.
Wonderful location in Rome. Perfect for walking, restaurants, and shopping. Don't do a rental as parking is difficult. Other than that, it was super charming with a lovely cafe for breakfast on the corner.
A Charming Roman Apartment in a Prime LocationIf you’re after an authentic Roman experience, this apartment delivers. Perfectly situated on a busy shopping street, it puts you right in the heart of the city — though that also means some street noise at night. For our family of four, it was manageable, and after long days of sightseeing, we slept through most of it.The apartment is spacious with comfortable beds and plenty of room to spread out. It has an older, characterful feel — think classic Roman charm rather than modern polish, with a few loose floorboards to match. The small bathroom and shower are perfectly in keeping with the Italian style, meaning small. One quirk: the master bedroom has a tiny sink and toilet tucked right beside the bed, which is convenient but takes some getting used to.There’s a washing machine with detergent provided, which is a big plus for longer stays — just note there’s only one drying rack, so a family will need to get creative hanging laundry. The kitchen has a good-sized fridge and freezer. For WiFi, use the “extended” network rather than the 5G extender or standard option.Check-in was seamless — someone met us on arrival, helped with bags, and walked us through everything. Communication throughout was easy and responsive. Overall, a comfortable, roomy stay in a fantastic location. We’d come back.
We really enjoyed our stay in Rome, definitely an excellent place to consider visiting again, not only is it close to all the attractions, but it also has great restaurants at walking distance. We highly recommend anyone whether you’re coming solo or in a large group consider planning a stay here. The apartment management also contacted taxi services for us from the airport and they responded to any questions we had right away. Thank you for making our stay a memorable experience!
Roomy apartment with lots of privacy. We were four adults (2 couples). Great location for touring Vatican, Piazza Navona, Trestavere, and Campo di Fiori areas.
We had an amazing 5 nights at this apartment. The location was perfect for us to walk around and sightsee in the morning and then come back for a rest before going back out in the evening. The beds were comfortable and the apartment had plenty of room for the 4 adults in our group. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The apartment is big and has a lot of character with original 15th century doors and ceilings. Perfect location just across the river from Castel Sant Angelo and down the street from the Piazza Navona. Lots of shops and cafes on the street. Communication with owners was fantastic. Highly recommend!
It was a great property on a perfect location. The customers service was great with excellent communication.
Only recommendation is to improve the main bathroom with some furniture/organizer/hangers for towels, shampoo, etc.
The apartment was spacious and very clean. The location was amazing too with artisan shops, restaurants and cafes on the block. The building was very old which made is magical but had some quirks for sure. The hosts helps us navigate all of it though. Would love to stay again!!
This is a really special flat in an ideal location. For a big city Rome is surprisingly walkable. Our goal was to skip many of the big attractions and explore the city's neighborhoods without too many plans. Couldn't have picked a better location. Would absolutely stay here again.
The location was phenomenal. Via dei Coronari is an idyllic Roman street. The place was very clean, the check-in process was extremely smooth (much better than the average VRBO check-in), and the place itself is very nice and unique. The back (master) bedroom has poor lighting, and it would be an easy fix to add some bedside lamps. Also a hair dryer. Otherwise great place!
