About this property
Cozy St. Helen's Cabin is Pet-friendly, Hot tub, AC, WIFI, Seasonal River Access
Adorable cabin sets on 6 acres with the Cowlitz River a short walk. The St. Helens Cabin at Cowlitz River Cabins Retreat is a 1036 square foot fully furnished, beautiful A-frame cabin representing the quintessential style of vacation homes. This A-frame is as affordable as it is adorable!
The cabin’s exterior is made of hand scribed logs and cedar siding presenting a rustic charm, making it the perfect woodsy getaway. The interior has a spacious feel due to the open floor plan and the 22-ft vaulted ceiling, which soars above the great room. The room is bathed in sunlight by large windows. Featured in the center of the great room, sits a gas stove, which burns with the natural look of real wood, and warms the entire first & second floors. The kitchen includes an island, which provides ample space for preparing meals and/or serves as an eating bar. A huge skylight brightens both the kitchen and dining areas.
The romantic bedroom/loft overlooks the living room and features beautiful mission style furniture. When your day is done, the queen size bed envelops your body. On the main floor, there are 2 built-in cozy bunker beds (2 queen mattresses) with curtains that draw closed for privacy.
Outside, a wide set of stairs that brings you up to the entrance features patios on each side. A private jetted hot tub sits on one side and on the other, a barbecue and picnic table to enjoy an outdoor meal.
Cowlitz River Cabin Retreat serves equally well as a weekend cabin, summer retreat, or a ski chalet. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy its proximity to White Pass Recreation area and Gifford Pinchot National Forest, which offers many year round recreational opportunities. If it's peace and tranquility that you’re seeking, you might curl up with a good book or take a stroll down to the river and sit and listen to the water!
This woodland site is shared with numerous wildlife creatures such as elk, deer, raccoons, and geese, to name a few. In the early morning and evening hours, frogs from a nearby pond will occasionally serenade you. If you look overhead, you will often spot a pair of eagles soaring high above, but sometimes you have to take a closer look as what your seeing may instead be hang-gliders who have leaped off nearby dog-mountain, soaring like eagles and are a real treat to watch!
Please note: there are two other cabins and our Tatoosh Tipi spread throughout the 6 acres. All of them having their own space but also there are common areas such as the play structure, garden(see garden note for 2026 season), and paths to the river.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! The views, proximity to places we wanted to go, and seclusion in nature was perfect for us. This property is very pet friendly and the on-property trail to the river was a huge plus. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Cowlitz River Cabins. Dogs love it here just as much as the humans.
The place was so cute. Communicating with the hosts was very easy. We had accidentally left behind an item and they were so kind to ship it to us. My wife and I enjoyed staying here. I look forward to booking again in the future.
Amazing cabin nestled in one of the most beautiful areas of Washington. Well maintained all around and the trail to the river had a secret garden feeling to it! the hot tub was the perfect end to our evening! Thank you!
This was the perfect place to stay for all of our Mt. Rainier activities! My friend and I were both very comfortable and wished we could have stayed longer!
We stayed here with our baby (she saw chickens for the 1st time ) and had a nice time! It was very quiet and the surroundings with the river are really pleasant.
We loved the proximity to MRNP. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The garden guests were allowed to use was such a treat! Our son loved it! Danielle is an incredible host!
Easy to find and seamless check-in. Kitchen was well-stocked. A nice perk is the owners' invitation to pick from their garden. A lovely spot to use as a basecamp for hiking in the area.
We stayed 4 nights on a family vacation. The cabin is nicely located between Mount St. Helen and Mount Rainier NP. After long days of hiking, the hot tub felt very soothing. Would stay there again
Lovely secluded cabin on a river in a beautiful mountain valley. Just what we were looking for. Loved hiking down by the river and soaking in the hot tub.
