Western facing waterfront property - kids and pets welcome!
West-facing, waterfront three bedroom home and garden offering activities for everyone. Enjoy relaxing on the deck, foraging for clams, watching for wildlife, harvesting fruits and vegetables from the garden, and kayaking all from the comforts of the house.
Our favorite activities are all right at the house -- playing in the yard, kayaking across the water for dinner at the Boat House followed by ice cream at Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, or watching rain storms from the cozy interior.
Our home offers three bedrooms and spacious common areas. The master bedroom faces west with water views and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has two sets of twin bunk beds, which are great for kids. The third bedroom features a water view with lots of windows and a queen bed. All mattresses and bedding are new. For even larger groups, there’s parking for an RV.
Dogs (a small, additional fee applies for cleaning) and kids are welcome at the house. Please be especially mindful of all animals and kids near the water and especially on the boat ramp - it can be very slippery. We have two portable cribs, crib sheets, and an assortment of children's toys and utensils to make travel easier for you. For dogs, we have a large dog bed, water/meal bowls, and a chuck-it that you may borrow during your stay. Please be respectful of our neighbors and leash dogs when on the beach.
This is an absolute ideal location for a Pacific Northwest vacation.
Within a 30 minute drive, you will find historic Gig Harbor (seaside restaurants, distilleries/wineries, quaint museums, etc.), the Hood Canal (state parks with great hiking trails, Alderbrook Lodge Resort and Spa, Hamma Hamma Oysters, etc.), and many golf courses (Gold Mountain, Trophy Lake, Hawk’s Prairie) throughout the area.
Within an hour, SeaTac Airport, Olympic National Park, Tacoma, and Washington State’s Capitol, Olympia.
Only 1.5 hours from downtown Seattle via ferry or driving directly on I-5. We are 2.5 hours from Portland, Oregon.
Example Itineraries:
Day One: - Spend the morning at the house watching the fog lift from the bay - Drive to Twanoh State Park and walk along the Hood Canal before doing the 3-mile loop trail through the forest. This is a public crabbing spot if you'd like to try your luck as well. Visit the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife website for more information. - Afterwards treat yourself to lunch and a spa treatment at the Alderbrook Resort - On the way home, pickup barbeque (JNR Smoked Meats) and a growler (Bent Brine Brew Co.) and enjoy watching the sunset from the deck
Day Two: - Get breakfast at one of the many waterfront restaurants in Gig Harbor (NetShed No.9 is a good choice) - Walk (or drive) along the boardwalk to the Harbor History Museum where you can learn about the area’s rich history - Walk (or drive) back along the waterfront for a casual lunch at Tides Tavern (no kids allowed) - Head home for an afternoon of relaxing. Kayak (or drive) across the water for dinner at Lennard K’s boathouse and ice cream at Olympic Mountain (opened seasonally).
Day Three: - Grab breakfast at one of the many espresso stands and drive to the Mt. Ellinor Trailhead in Olympic National Forest. It’s a difficult 6.5 mile hike to the top, but you’ll be rewarded with amazing views. Dogs are allowed on this trail. - Afterwards drive further up the Hood Canal for freshly shucked oysters from Hamma Hamma Saloon. - Enjoy the car ride home and pick-up takeout pizza at Seabeck Pizza along the way
Day Four: - Check the tide schedules and go for a long walk on the beach during low tide - Dig for clams during lowest part of the tide - Let them sit for a couple of hours in a bucket of water from the Bay while you relax - Steam them up using your favorite recipe (you're welcome to use any available herbs from the garden) and serve with bread

This property and the hosts were absolutely amazing! Ease of checking in/out along with great communication made it super enjoyable. Definitely recommend this property!
This was an excellent property to stay at with my family! While our stay was unconventional as we stayed for an extended period of time, we love everything about the area! The owner/host is top notch and I would definitely recommend booking your stay here! 10/10
The Big Yellow House: beautiful and fun stay on Puget Sound
I highly recommend this property for a stay with family or friends. It has views of the water from a bedroom and two living areas, clear through to the kitchen, which is a treat. The location is great - away from the bustle of Seattle/Tacoma - but accessible and private-feeling even situated among homes on each side. Kirsten is an excellent host; very communicative, helpful, responsive. The house, while older, has already been updated in some areas by the new owners, and is kept very clean. It's well-situated, for the views mentioned above, as well as living and sleeping in. If you're renting the shed, the bedroom is new and very comfortable, and the games on ground level provide hours of entertainment. In terms of water entertainment, the provided kayaks enabled us to tour the Inlet, view sea lions, and paddle across to Allyn. The kids loved claim digging, and crab and shell-hunting. The Traeger grill is easy to use, making meals at home convenient when we weren't eating out.
We had a lovely extended stay while waiting to close on our house after moving from a rental home. The house is spacious, confortable, equipped with everything you need and has a great view! We were able to have the dogs with us, which is a rare find. The surrounding area is fun to explore. Great communication with the owner. A perfect place for a brief visit to the Puget Sound or a long stay like ourselves.
We had a very enjoyable stay here. It's a good size place and it's so nice right on the water. But beware it's a steep hill to the beach. Also the yard isn't completely fenced in. The side that faces the water has no fence. I had to really keep an eye on my dog because she kept going near the edge. But overall it's a nice place to get away from it all.
We loved our weekend away from Seattle in this charming cabin. The view was gorgeous, and we appreciated the easy beach access. The cabin had everything we needed and was cozy and comfortable - I already miss the view from the master bedroom. Our dog had the time of her life swimming and hunting sticks in the yard. Would love to visit again!
