This house is pristine! The view is gorgeous. The beds are so comfortable and there isn't anything I could imagine that wasn't provided. It was extremely quiet and relaxing. Our host Michael was very gracious and kind. The whole experience was perfect. I can't wait to go back.
My wife and I had a wonderful time at this waterfront home on Stretch Island. The area is incredibly quiet and tranquil—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The house was clean, well-stocked, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.We especially appreciated the Brita water filter, which was a thoughtful touch given the local water’s sulfur content—it made morning coffee much better. The hot tub was clean and well maintained, and the owner’s directions were clear and easy to follow. If we plan another trip to the area, we’d absolutely stay here again.
My mom and I had a wonderful stay at Island Belle House. The view was beautiful, it was quiet, and the house had everything we needed. Michael was easy to communicate with and very responsive.
My nephew has a house on Reach Island and he could see us with binoculars on the deck of this house on Stretch Island so it was perfect for our weekend family reunion. Super great views of the sound. Will definitely book again.

Wonderful week of kayaking, swimming and beach time!
Yes, a wonderful stay on Stretch Island. We were two couples, 4 kayaks, lots of food, a very hard jigsaw puzzle, a bike... and hot hot weather and smoke from BC fires. But, the clear water and easy access for our kayaks and lovely beach kept us cool while temps soared into the high 90's.
The view is stunning - the Olympic mountains are right out the windows, Mt Rainier pops up after a short paddle to the east. It's in a nice quiet area, the house small but comfy. The kitchen and pantry equipment made cooking easy and great. Well stocked pots and pans and all you need. The beds are very nice. Both bedrooms and bathroom are close together, so sound does carry. A sliding door on one bedroom makes a rumble that might awaken partner or friends in other room. But, because we had the AC or fans on, we did muffle things somewhat.
The large yard is pretty with huge madrone trees and firs and nice mature landscaping. A back patio is shady on hot evenings and is a sweet spot for meals. The boat-in State Park adjacent to the property is a gorgeous piece of land and lagoon. The boaters there were quiet and considerate.
As avid kayakers we went out on two or more trips a day. Each direction brought new inlets, islands or channels to explore. Easy to go miles and miles. The water was calm and glassy the whole week - but that may be because of the hot hot weather. Not a ton of sea life or intertidal zone life - lower Puget Sound is facing serious issues with fertilizer runoff that is affecting fish, eagles, osprey, etc. We did see seals, otters, kingfishers. We just missed, by a couple of days, seeing Gray Whales about a mile from the house! But compared to when I grew up near Tacoma in the 60's the sea is pretty empty. I hope Washington State can bring it back. That said, the water is clear and was perfect for swimming and simply lovely.
The house was super clean and the manager Kathy delightful. We'd love to be there still - and hope to be back soon!

Thank you for your detailed, enthusiastic review Diane. I'd really hoped that you'd find the kayaking in our area to be superb. We love it for that. I hope we can welcome you for another stay. Best, Michael Benson (owner)
This house was perfect for couples.
House was built in the 50's, but you would think it was brand new.
Beds were very comfortable. View of the water was spectacular.
We watched deer and a fox in the back yard.
Michael was the perfect host.
I would strongly gly recommend this ho.e to anyone looking for a great get-a-way
We had a wonderful retreat from our everyday urban existence (which right now involves construction across the street). Michael was very welcoming and the incredible view was just what we needed. We did some hiking and some paddling and got some much-needed down time. I didn’t want to leave.

Jane, you were a wonderful guest who enjoyed the property in all the best ways. We'd be pleased to host you again!
We celebrated our 9th anniversary with a weekend getaway with our 8 year old twins. We love the 1950s style of the cabin and the beach was full of running, swimming, paddle boarding, beach combing, fort building and picnicking! One of the best getaways we’ve had locally in a long time. Thank you Michael for your awesome communication! We will be back soon!!

Wonderful guests enjoying the area to the fullest! Please come back again!
This lovely family home with view of the water had everything we wanted for our vacation. The beach is just down the lane. Photos on the walls and information about the family and about Stretch Island and its vineyards gave us a better appreciation of the home and the local history. The home was well equipped with everything we needed, from kitchen equipment to wifi access.
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The views from the house are breathtaking and picture perfect. I read a lot about the history of the house and the grape-view area. What a calm and serene place which was once a prominent grape growing area and had many wineries and juice companies. We loved just looking at the water from our deck, living room, kitchen and almost everywhere. A great place to walk, swim, kayak. The house has many interesting books that we read and also had chairs and ice box to take on the beach. A lovely touch was the wine for us on the day we arrived. Also we ate some very delicious pears that the owner allowed us to pick from his garden. Loved every moment of our time spent in this special place.
Although our stay was only a couple nights we thoroughly enjoyed The Island Belle...very quaint, comfy and clean. The beach below the house is lovely pebbles and the water clear and beautiful...Nice view from the deck whether during the day or gazing at the stars at night....we hope to come back and extend longer next time.
Wonderful house with all that you need. Outdoors there is kayaking, swimming, walking, or just being on the deck and watching the sunset and then the stars! Best place on the island.

I loved our vacation.
The property overlooks the water. The house is lovely, clean and full of what you need to cook. (I always bring my own as you are never sure what is missing.) Well stocked with cookware and dishware.
Next time I would bring our kayaks to move into the water. Lovely spot. We will return.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at "The Island Belle House".
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at "The Island Belle House".
This home is in a perfect location for kayaking, golfing,
exploring the Olympic Penninsula, or just hanging out
and watching sunsets. We appreciated the opportunity
to learn about the Grapeview area, and read the history
of the families who settled here. This home was built in
1950's, and is being lovingly updated by family with
furnishings that reflect it's history. It was stocked with
everything we needed, plus things we wouldn't likely
use, but had to smile because they reminded us of the
kitchens of our childhood. The appliances are older,
but everything worked fine. We definitely hope to
have an opportunity to return to this special place on
Stretch Island.

Older but very well maintained property with a beautiful location!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The water views and beach were terrific! The house is very well cared for and we appreciated all the nice things the owners have done to make their guests feel welcome. The deck has a nice Weber grill and nice patio furniture. The beds were comfortable and the house was very clean. Kayaking was wonderful and we had easy access to Fair Harbor Marina for our larger boat. The manager was very easy to work with. We will definitely return! Thank you!

Beach House
The location is great and very quiet. It is a nice house and well maintained.
However, I would make more room to put clothes away during our stay.
I would arrange the kitchen cabinets in order to be able to find what you
need for the task at hand.
Other than that, we had a great time.

Beautiful magical place with a stunning sunset and view of the Olympics.
I would totally recommend this beach house for peace and quiet, then, if you want some things to do, there are plenty right there: kayaking, searching for star fish on the beach, swimming, fishing, bicycling around Stretch Island, walks and all this without a car! Yay!!

Comfortable, Clean and Relaxing
We stayed at Kathy's home for 2 nights in June 2018 and had a wonderful visit. The home is positioned perfectly between downtown Seattle and Olympic National Park, which made it easy to get to the two places we were visiting during our trip. However, we could have spent more time just at the home itself, as it was very tranquil and our boys enjoyed splashing around and finding creatures in the water. Found a cute little ice cream shop and restaurant just a few miles away. We were lucky to have clear skies on our last day and see the mountains in the distance - stunning! The home itself reminded me of my grandmother's home, in a good way. Older furnishings and style, yet meticulously clean and comfortable. Best sleep we had on our trip by far! And by meticulously clean, I mean super meticulous!! Kathy was very responsive to emails and calls and made our stay easy and smooth. Would love to return at some point and spend more time there! Only recommendation I would have is to add a kayak or two to the home for guests to use. I would have loved to wake up each morning and kayak around in the water for some morning exercise.

Beautiful Views and Serenity
This is a lovely little cottage with a beautiful view in a small, quiet enclave. The owner and manager were both professional and friendly. The cottage is modestly furnished - I would call it mid- to late twentieth century grandma! - but immaculately clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Quiet and Peaceful with Amazing View
First time for us to go Home Away. Kathy was great and promptly returned my emails. Her daughter greeted us when we arrived. Our son and his wife enjoyed staying with us too plus our daughter and family stopped by to visit for a few hours. A friend found the house in the area for us as her son was getting married in the area. It was a clean, cute house with an amazing view. The beds were comfortable and house had everything you need. Our only complaint that with the view more comfortable furniture inside and out would be nice.

About the host
Hosted by Michael Benson
The Hillman family purchased and cleared land here in 1919 to begin planting vineyards for grape juice production. They operated The Island Belle Grape Juice company which thrived for 30 years. Now the 5th generation of our family proudly cares for and enjoys this waterfront location.
Why they chose this property
Our home offers a unique combination of local history, recreation, tranquility and beauty. Part of the original family estate was acquired by The State Of Washington in 1969, in order to establish what is now the Stretch Point Marine State Park.
What makes this property unique
Kayaking, beachcombing, swimming, boating, waterskiing, bicycling, walking, jogging, star-gazing and relaxing. Easy beach access and Puget Sound/Olympic Mountain views complete the unique charm of The Island Belle House. The nearby town of Allyn (5 mi) has espresso shops, restaurants, kayak rentals, an ice cream shop, grocery store and a unique chainsaw art/carving shop.
