About this property
Historic Fort Steven Officers Quarters
This Historic Fort Stevens officer’s quarters, built in 1905, is bursting with character, from the charming front porch and original fir floors to the ornate tin ceilings and crystal chandeliers. A quick drive, or short bike ride on trails, will take you into Fort Stevens State Park, a 3,700 acre park with miles of ocean and river beaches, scenic hiking and biking trails, and a beautiful lake. The house is a two hour drive from Portland and a little over three hours from Seattle.
The space Walk through the door of the Historic Officer's Quarters and step back in time. This house was built by the military in 1905 to house the officers and their families for the adjacent Fort Stevens military base. It is filled with fir floors, tin ceilings, chandeliers, and a grand entry staircase. The expansive front porch is a wonderful place to relax while looking out at the surrounding historic homes, and the original marching grounds that are now a city park. This is the perfect home base to explore the history and natural beauty of the Oregon Coast. We have an outdoor shed with beach toys, outdoor games, and bikes for riding the trails to the beach.
Things to note: 1. We have lovingly restored this historic home. It is the ideal place to take your family, or have an intimate get-together with a few friends, but it is not a party house. We are very strict about the 6 person maximum occupancy.
2. There is parking for 3 mid-sized cars at the house. We unfortunately don't have parking available for boat trailers or RVs. A few miles from the house is the Hammond Marina. Boats can be launched there and parking is available for boat trailers.
3. Our house is a strict no smoking house. Please do not book our home if you are a smoker. Please do not smoke anywhere on the property, including the front porch. Thank you!
4. We do not allow pets of any kind to stay at our home. The fir floors are very soft and dog claws can easily scratch them. Many people are very sensitive to animal hair and we want our home to be a safe place for all to stay.
5. We ask that you do not wear shoes in the house. We have places to leave your shoes by both doors. Please bring your slippers.
6. The house is a side-by-side duplex. There are shared walls. Please be respectful of your noise level. There are separate seating areas for each side of the duplex on the front porch. Please do not take furniture from the side of the duplex you are not staying on, that furniture is for other guests to enjoy.

Original floors and design offers welcoming old world charm. Well appointed with so the kitchen amenities to make our trip a success. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and a nice stay.
Such a great stay! Spacious, clean, and perfect for our family trip. We loved the history of the home and how close it was to the beach and Fort Stevens. Would absolutely book again!
The property was clean, check in was easy, and hosts had everything we needed. The location of the property was a short drive to all nearby parks and beaches. It was a great stay.
Beautiful historic home with everything you need. Lots of games, books, puzzles for all ages. Located in Fort Stevens State Park. About 1-1/2 block walk to Fort Stevens property and 4 block walk to Fort Stevens National Cemetary. Watch the deer and Elk graze in the park across the street or in your front yard’s
My family loved this old house. It takes you back in time and is still laid back and comfortable. Very nicely restored! The location is great. Fort Stevens is a must see and take a quick trip to Sunset Beach.
We really enjoyed the property! The house was spacious and super interesting. It was a great space for our family to visit and hang out. The books, toys, and games were nice to have access to.
We had such a good visit. Fort Steven’s was so close and such fun for our grandkids. The house was totally perfect with so much character. Would definitely come back for another stay.

This was such a wonderful place to stay. The home was clean, cozy with history & charm. I was a little worried with it being outside of Astoria, but it was so peaceful & quiet. There is so much to do near Ft. Stevens that it ended up being a perfect location. I would highly recommend this place.
We loved this home. The history of the home and surrounding area is very interesting. The home is beautiful and comfortable.
Our hosts are friendly and we would stay here again.
Thank you.
My family and I feel very fortunate with having spent time in this residence. It was very clean, nicely furnished, wonderfully restored, and the loving attention to details was apparent. We, four adults, felt very comfortable in this home and everything was set up to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
We had an amazing time at your vacation rental! It was roomy and we loved the historic nature of the rental and surrounding area. The location was perfect for our young family, the playground/field across the street was great and the beaches were a short drive away :).
We would come back again! Thank you :)
This was our second visit to this property because we enjoyed it so much the first time. It is a great location for those who love to be outdoors, close to the beach, and right next to Fort Stevens for lots of walking, biking and other outdoor activities. The house is beautiful and quiet. We'd go back a third time!
We loved this house -- exactly as described and the only bike friendly (actual paths) area on the Oregon coast that I know of. Having a playground out the front window was great for the kids. The only thing I might add is curtains or black out shades for the windows.
Super friendly hosts -- and this is a great house without a rental company go-between.
Interesting accomodations. Lovely, clean home. Bring your own coffee, tea, shampoo and soap. All 3 bedrooms are located upstairs, which made it hard for my husband. That's the only reason I would not stay again.
This is an absolutely charming old house, fun to stay in (in part) because it is just so gorgeous! Wood floors; high ceilings with decorative tile, chandeliers, and architectural molding; a lovely kitchen; and a big front porch all made my friends and I feel like we were treating ourselves to something special and unique. It was immaculately clean, and the beds were comfortable. The host was easy to communicate with, and very nice. My friends and I came because we wanted a nice place to stay while we attended the FisherPoets gathering in Astoria, which was just an easy 20-minute drive away. We would definitely stay here again.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property! We were lucky to have a chance to meet Andrew the owner and get advice on ways to enjoy the area. While I dont recall the playground described in the post, my 2 and 5 year old grandkids were thrilled that this was so close. Seaside and Astoria were very accessible but this was also a perfect spot to relax! Thanks for the attention to detail!
Clean and fresh, well appointed. Fun to be in an historic building. Well equipped kitchen.
Somewhat inconvenient that the three bedrooms were upstairs with one bathroom while the other bathroom was downstairs.
