The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds, gather used towels and store extra beds
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
It is imperative that you wheel all trash bins down to Spring Garden road for Monday Morning trash pickup. Please let us know if you forget so we can get them to the curb.
All ceiling fans must be manually turned off.
Take any trash that does not fit in the bins with you. Especially food trash (to deter the bears)
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please roll trash bins down to the road for the trash pick up 9am on Monday morning. Take all extra trash with you.
Please put soiled laundry in the laundry room sweep and do the dishes.
Please turn off all lights, fans, coolers, and the thermostat at check out. Shut the windows and lock the house.

Our stay was spectacular. The house is an incredible size, and the front yard is huge! Plenty of parking. We ran into a problem with some doors being jammed, but the host communicated that keys were available. There is also a sign at the front door with that information, and other helpful cleanup information. Overall, a really great experience. I look forward to staying at this cottage again!!

you’re so glad you liked the size of our house. We made sure to make an incredible kitchen and gigantic great room, even and 8 smaller bedrooms. We are so blessed to have a parking lot that fits 30-50 cars. This amenity is left over from the days Forest Cottage used to be a preschool. I’m glad that when you locked yourself out of the bedroom (doors were not jammed—they are fine) you were able to locate the room key in one of the three locations we keep sets of room keys. We love hosting large groups and look forward to your return.

We were a group of 21 and there was enough room for everybody. The host was very detailed with all the instructions and that was super useful. The place is beautiful and well maintained. Although we could not use the outdoor facilities due to bad weather, there is a pretty good outdoor space for kids to play.

My family and I had a great time. We loved the privacy of the location. We loved our family time, exploring the rivers and lakes around the area, bbq in the evenings, and bon fires at night. Awesome and comfortable house!!!

I love Owl Creek, the American River--both the north and south forks and their confluence! Todd Pond is 1 mile away with bathrooms, tables and a nature walk, Upper and Lower Lake Clementine are amazing, and Morning Star lake and Sugarpine Reservoir are tops! All within minutes of Forest Cottage.

We love the ample pantry storage under the breakfast nook window for all your fruit, potatoes, bread and paper ware. Six empty large drawers! Location is quite and sourroubded by forest trees. Multiple hike options close by. Would like to mention property host is very responsible and quick responding to questions. Enough outdoor space to spending time with larger group. Overall we enjoyed stay at this property.

Great place for a large group with kids

The large outdoor play area, plethora of rooms and beds, and comfortable shared spaces makes this an amazing place for large groups with kids. Our group of 5 families with kids from 1 to 8 had a blast! A nearby grocery market makes for easy access to food and Auburn State Recreational Park (just 15 min drive away) is a fun place to hike and explore.

Our family stayed at the Forest Cottage last month for our family reunion. The house was exactly what we needed for our large family. Plenty of space and beds for all. It was raining while we were there so the kids could not go out but the yard has a lot to offer for kids

We are so glad the children found things to do indoors at Forest Cottage. Rain or shine, the gaming closet at the cottage is a gold mine for kids. Besides the 50 board games and 5 TVs, kids can also find a group parachute, a tug-of-war rope, and even a TeePee in its arsenal of indoor activities.

Unique house in a beautiful location

I celebrated my 40th at Foresthill house with 12 of my close friends. We had a great time at the house, everyone had a bed, the kitchen was stocked and the hosts were so sweet. We found a great reservoir lake about 30 minutes away, but spent a ton of time at the house. The house feels like it’s all alone, yet it’s only about 15 minutes from Auburn. There is a Raley’s in auburn for easy access to groceries. We bbq’ed all and hung out by the fire pit at night. I would definitely stay there again for a similar occasion.

Good spot for a gathering

Aurelia was super responsive to all of our messages. The house is in good shape and the kitchen is larger than it looks on the listing. We were hoping to use the deck, however it was under construction for our stay. We did need to spend some time cleaning up the place a bit more when we got there, but it wasn't too bad and the bedrooms and bathrooms were all in good shape. It is definitely a little cramped for larger (30+) groups, but for a short stay it's nice and we had a lovely time there!

Forest Cottage

Overall, Forest Cottage was wonderful, with enough room for everyone. The outdoors gave room for younger ones to run and play. The kitchen was large enough to serve everyone, and two refrigerators were a blessing. It might have been nice to have 2 stoves, but it worked. However, a few of the mattresses might need to be replaced. The cooling system was faulty at first, but they sent out a repairman as soon as we called to let them know.

Great for large groups

We had a family reunion with 21 people stay at Forest Cottage. There was plenty of space, our children ages 1-11 loved the “park” as they called it, which was the large, completely fenced play area out front which we could watch them play from the front deck or from the many windows in the house. The kitchen is very well equipped with many pots and pans, dishes, etc. There is a big closet with lots of family games. Plenty of bedding and towels are provided, as well as hand soap, TP, and paper towels. We all had such a great time and hope to come back for our next reunion.
