Casa Gelso D is a romantic and welcoming apartment that is part of an ancient country house situated in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. It sleeps two people. From Casa Gelso D you will enjoy an enchanting view of the Chianti hills and of the swimming pool. Casa Gelso D is 35 square meters (375 square feet). It features a shared swimming pool, a private patio, a shared garden, a reserved outdoor area, air conditioning (please read description below to check in which rooms the units are installed), winter heating and WI-FI Internet access.
You will be roughly 5 km (3.1 miles) from Colle di Val del'Elsa, where you will find restaurants and shops.
Casa Gelso D is located on the first floor of an age-old stone house. You will reach it from the patio going up an external stairway which consists of approximately 20 steps.
To stay at Casa Gelso D you will need a car. You will be able to park it on the premises, free of charge in a parking space. The complex is an ancient stone house located on the hillside, and it has a patio as well as a swimming pool and a park of 4000 square meters (1 acre).


The complex offers four small refurbished apartments, Casa Gelso A, B, C and D that are connected to a small church built in 1200.  The church and the adjoining rooms in the beginning used to be a parish. There were the house of the local priest, cellars and storage rooms, and rooms where pilgrims going to Rome could sleep. Indeed, in this area of Tuscany (called Val D'Elsa), there was the ancient "Via Franchigena", the official pilgrimage road that pilgrims from everywhere in Europe would take to reach Rome. It used to be one of the main communication routes in the medieval world. Many similar country churches were built along this road, and they are still called "Pievi". These ancient parishes served both as a religious center and a meeting point for the locals. For this reason, next to the churches you will often find a village or at least a small bunch of ancient houses.


The church is built on a higher ground than the surrounding area. When you arrive you will be able to spot the refined building from a distance, with its round apsis made of stone and bricks and the tower with its elegant twin lancet window, where the bells are hosted.


The entire complex has been lovingly restored, reusing the ancient building materials: it will take only a moment to feel brought back to the atmosphere of times now gone.  The nice building of stone and red bricks, the green lawn that surrounds it, the blooming hedges, the wide horizon of gentle hills that fade into blue at a distance: everything will convey a feeling of peace and well-being, and you will be happy to be part of this place for the length of your stay!


The restored apartments overlook the side of the church that faces the hills, and have a view of the large swimming pool, located a few steps below. The church can be visited. Perfectly restored, it hosts a reception hall where the owners greet their guests. Not far from the church you will also find a small hamlet made of stone houses.

Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is 7 meters (23 feet) large by 14 meters (46 feet) long. The area is equipped with chairs, sun umbrellas and deck chairs. From the swimming pool you will enjoy a fascinating view of the Chianti hills and of the garden. You will share the pool with the guests staying at the complex, at another nearby apartment, and there will be an area reserved for your exclusive use. The swimming pool is open from the end of April until mid-October.
Patio
The patio is equipped with tables, chairs, sun umbrellas and deck chairs. From the patio you will enjoy a view of the Chianti hills and of the swimming pool. You will share the patio with the guests staying at the complex, at another nearby apartment, and there will be an area reserved for your exclusive use.
Garden
In the garden you will find a barbecue and a small wood-fired pizza oven. From the garden you will enjoy a thrilling view of the Chianti hills. You will share the garden with the guests staying at the complex, at another nearby apartment, and there will be an area reserved for your exclusive use.

In the laundry room you will find a washing machine at your disposal.  Kitchen
You will be able to enter the kitchen from the patio. It is equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer, an Italian-style coffee-maker and other small appliances. The dining table can accommodate two guests. The kitchen has a window with a view of the greenery and of the hills. The kitchen is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit.
Bedroom with en-suite bathroom
You will be able to enter the bedroom from the kitchen. The bedroom has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). In this room you will find a television (local channels). The room has a window with a view of the greenery and of the hills. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a fully enclosed shower.
