About this property

Rustic Personal Retreat Cabin, "Sunset"

Come take a break from the busyness of life and escape to our rustic little cabin. Life can be hard, work can be stressful, and electronics can sometimes seemingly overtake our day to day activities. Everyone needs to get away from time to time to refill their soul, reset their minds and reconnect with themselves. Our cabin offers solitude in the middle of the woods where nature and animals are abundant. You are walking distance from a private beach on the South Shore of Lake Superior, several private hiking trails, and access to the Amnicon River. Come take a few days to hike the trails, sit on the beach, and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Located a short 30 minute drive from Duluth, Amnicon is a small camp and retreat center in Lake Superior woods. Our cabin is situated away from the camp itself so it truly feels like you're in the middle of the woods and have the ability to enjoy nature and yourself in peace. Guests can hike, ski, or snowshoe our trails or birdwatch on our 500-acre migratory bird research area. During warmer months you can canoe or swim the Amnicon River, stargaze by one of our many campfire rings, or walk our private beach on Lake Superior. Come and rest for a bit and reconnect with nature and yourself.

Please note: Our cabin is not ADA accessible.

Its good. Managers may want to let people know you need to drive down five miles of not-so-great gravel road.

Very rustic retreat with lots of walking
I loved the cabin but not the walk for unloading. The fire pit was so full of ashes I wasn’t able to start a fire in there. When I asked if they had a shovel they said yes that was on our list to be done. I waited and they never came back so I used the snow shovel and dug it out best I could. . The short walk to the beach wasn’t as short as I expected so I never made it there. Road into Camp was treacherous and a bit dangerous. Today when I left they were grading it so that helped. I was hoping for some internet but they said it wasn’t for guests so not sure how I was supposed to get ahold of people or Verbo to ask questions. If I was younger I would love it here more. That being said I did enjoy myself and left feeling at peace. The few people I encountered were very nice. Thanks for the stay.

Loved it
So quiet, peaceful and well supplied cabin! Cozy and sweet. Loved the little library of Sherlock Holmes and xkcd books. Excellent thermostat for the cabin and for the outhouse. Great walk to the beaches too. Thank you!
