Northern Enclosure Lodge - Four Season Retreat

NORTHERN ENCLOSURE LODGE is a four season chalet located only minutes from Boyne Highlands and Nubs Nob ski areas and the quaint villages of Harbor Springs and Petoskey.

Northern Michigan, much admired for its superb skiing, is also known as a fabulous summer destination. Our home is within minutes of the beautiful sandy beach and dunes of Petoskey State Park on Lake Michigan.

We are close to many inland lakes and canals, ideal for swimming and boating; slow meandering streams, perfect for canoeing; and 20 championship golf courses. Many of our guests visit the famous tourist destination of Mackinac Island, located in the nearby Straits of Mackinac ( 40 minute drive )

The chalet is a cozy, three level, rustic lodge. It features a loft with two bedrooms, a first floor master bedroom, and a walk-out lower level with another bedroom. There are two bathrooms, utility area, and a large rec/media room that will accommodate your entire party. The house is located on a quiet side road in a quiet wooded area with other similar homes, about 6 miles from both villages of Petoskey and Harbor Springs.

NOTE : GUESTS PROVIDE THEIR OWN LINENS ( sheets, pillow cases and towels) which helps to keep our rates at the best value in the area and assures that each guest's own quality standards are maintained. Blankets and pillows are provided. Please view this entire site herein for bed counts and amenities, such as the stocked kitchen and paper products, which are included!

As listed, A/C IS NOT PROVIDED, the house is well shaded and fans are provided for marginal days.

Home away from home

The house was perfect for our family trip, nearby to many attractions we enjoy. The owner's communicated very well and checked in to make sure we found everything we needed, which we definitely did in the well stocked kitchen 🙂 would definitely stay again!

Up north cabin

Loved the cabin! It had plenty of room for our family. Owners were great as they provided suggestions to local places to visit. Close to downtown Harbor Springs which is a cute little town. Would rent again!

Great spot for a ski trip

Came for the weekend to ski The Highlands and Nubs Knob and we’re not disappointed. Perfect location, the house had everything we needed. Having the basement was nice for those who needed more privacy. We’ll be back!

Sister Trip to Northern Michigan

Bill and Chris, The cottage is perfectly equipped and lacks nothing. l slept great for the first time in forever. We loved The Northern Enclosure and would love to come back there one day, The location was extremely convenient and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. A perfect home away from home!

Property was nice and clean with a beautiful view of the ski area. Surrounding area was quiet yet located within 20-30 minutes of shopping, wineries, movies, etc..

Great place for Boyne Highlands

We needed somewhere to stay while biking at Highlands. This place was very convenient. We were glad to have the charcoal grill, indoor fireplace, and plenty of sleeping accomodations. We will definitely consider return for more biking or skiing. The owner communicated often and was very accommodating.

Chalet near nubs nob

Beautiful place in a quiet woodsy neighborhood, in Harbor Springs. We came for the colors, tunnel of trees, and hiking. Lots of room with three levels and well stocked with blankets, wood, condiments and spices. Owners were very helpful and communicative. We would come back with friends.

Perfect place for a family ski trip. Northern Enclosure was equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy your time away. Plenty of room with extra space in lower area if people want to stay up late. Close to both ski resorts. We loved the fireplace and plenty of wood. Thanks for sharing your beautiful and cozy home.

Charming Little Bungalow

This was one of the most well-stocked homes we've ever stayed in. Bill and Chris communicate very well and give explicit instructions on everything. The home is stocked with the most extensive kitchen and dining utensils I've ever seen. Extremely clean and comfortable and decorated so cute for the holidays. We were well-taken care of as guests in this home!

Cozy and close to the slopes

This is third time we’ve stayed at Northern Enclosure. Cozy fireplace in the living room on the main floor. Two upstairs bedrooms in lofted area and a main floor bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable and spacious basement with a tv and new couches, a bedroom and bathroom. Well-stocked kitchen. Everything we needed for a relaxing time after skiing!

Nice to have one bath and one bedroom and a living space downstairs as well as upstairs

VERY well-stocked home. Nice neighborhood. The couches, both up and downstairs, weren't that comfortable. Also, for older people, the banisters on the stairs could be longer, but overall, it was most pleasant and the owners were very easy to connect via phone/text.

Location is great for skiing!

The location is great! Close to skiing! The house had plenty of room for the 6 of us and the kitchen is well supplied. When we first arrived, we noticed in one of the bathroom showers a clump of hair on the shower wall. I notified the owner and the response was sorry for the rocky start. I realize the house is rustic but we did notice plenty of cobwebs. I wish I would have thrown in a few throw blankets along with the bedding & towels.

This is a very good value vacation destination because the property owners do not provide bed linens, bath, kitchen or beach towels, and provide no laundry! Therefore, the rental is about half the going rate! Wow. The chalet is comfortable, good beds, efficient kitchen, shaded, proximate to ski hills, state park beach, fancy shoppin! We inhabit the area every summer due to relatives owning property across the road. The only thing lacking here and most other cottage properties is an allowance for well-trained dogs and their responsible masters. I give Northern Enclosure a 4+!!!!

Cozy place with all the amenities

This was the best VRBO accommodation we've stayed at in terms of what the house had to offer! Pillows, blankets, kitchen supplies, games, books... there was plenty of everything. Even the fridge was well stocked. We really overpacked for our weeklong stay. The information prior to check-in was extensive and helpful. Our hosts were quick to respond to any questions we had. Some TVs are tricky, but these were easy to use, and instructions were close at hand just in case. The house felt spacious enough for all six of us to relax. It was clean and neat when we arrived. The location was convenient for all types of activities. Yes, a bit of driving was required, but that's the case in northern Michigan no matter where you're at. The kids even made some friends right in the neighborhood. Only the beds were a bit too soft for our liking, but we understand that everyone's preferences differ. It was a fantastic stay and one we will always remember!

Great Lodging for a Ski Weekend

This was a really great property. You can't beat the location for easy access to Nubs and Boyne Highlands. The kitchen was well stocked and inventoried. There were more than enough beds for our group of 6 adults and 1 toddler. Some members of the group thought their mattresses could stand to be replaced. I slept well on the ground floor queen bed. We liked having common areas on both the ground and basement levels.

Family weekend at the Highlands

This home was perfect for our family. Comfortable and clean it’s just around the block from Teddy Griffin’s. The kitchen is very well equipped for meal prep. We’d definitely stay here again.

We are a family of die-hard Northern Michigan lovers that discovered this wonderful area as Honeymooners and have returned every summer and winter since. We finally were able to purchase our own retreat and we keep finding new places and experiences as well as frequenting old favorites!

Why they chose this property

We were drawn to this house because of it's great location , the skiing and summer activities, the relaxed atmosphere, and yes, we confess, a love for knotty pine! After many upgrades over the years , I feel that we have established a comfortable atmosphere that not only we enjoy but others will as well when they visit.

What makes this property unique

Make your own memories in this wonderful area from our comfortable and cozy lodge. Children love the loft and judging from our now 3 or 4 guest memory books, all seem to enjoy their stays.
Guests provide their own bed sheets/pillow cases and towels which helps to keep our rates low and maintains each guest's own standard of quality as well. Blankets and pillows provided.
