The Main Lair cabin is a five bedroom vacation getaway on Big Bear’s North Shore East that sleeps up to 10 adults and children. Whether you are planning an intimate weekend getaway just for the girls or guys, or looking for a holiday to remember with kids and grandparents in tow, the amenities in our comfortable getaway welcome you and yours anytime of year. Spacious 3,000 SF home. 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms with queen beds, queen sleeper sofas, twin bunk beds, and spa tubs in two master suites. Custom cabinetry, wood working, stone countertops, slate flooring, three fireplaces, and balconies in front & back. Stocked laundry room. We have air conditioning and heating! EV Charging available.

Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds, gather used towels and store extra beds
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
30 mins prior to leaving, please reach out to Gary via text or voice call to coordinate your departure. Pile all used linens and towels at the foot of each bed. Turn off fireplaces (outside too).
Ensure gas stove and outdoor bbq grill gas are off. Be sure all appliances are off, unplugged (including hair dryers). Hot tub to be turned down to 80°F, covered, and locked.
Any pet excrements to be picked-up and disposed of appropriately. Trash is in appropriate receptacles, and lids closed, where applicable. Lock doors, close any open windows, and turn lights off.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
City of Big Bear and county of San Bernardino require that all vacation rental guests sign a rental agreement prior to their stay. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Great stay at a beautiful house!

This home was great inside and out with lots of amenities to keep our families busy. It was close to the lake and anything else we needed. Property manager was responsive with all necessary details and everything was smooth.

Main Lair

This was a charming home which was perfect for a family vacation with small children. There are TVs in every room and a bunk bed room which comfortably fits 4 kids. The popcorn machine in the dining room was an added plus for the kids. Location is convenient to the ski resorts, supermarkets and the beautiful lake!

Thanksgiving at Main Lair

This is the first time our family spent a holiday at a mountain resort and we had a wonderful experience. There was plenty of room for all, games to play and many activities for us to do outside of the home. Main Lair is very well maintained!

Fantastic

Beautiful home on a wonderful property in a great neighborhood! Home had everything you could ask for and more! Very clean and comfortable with lots of games and things to do. Perfect location, close to town, but far enough away from the crowds. We spent the majority of our time in the amazing backyard laying games and just relaxing! The outdoor heaters and fireplace were amazing. We are already talking about staying here again on our next visit.

Great property for families!

I had an amazing stay at this beautiful home in Big Bear! The property was cozy, well-maintained, and felt like a true home away from home. One of the standout features was the variety of games available—everything from board games and card games to a foosball table, which added so much fun to our trip. The house was also equipped with top-notch appliances that made the stay incredibly comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and the coffee maker was a thoughtful touch for mornings. Having a washer and dryer on hand was convenient for keeping things fresh, and the smart TV and sound system in the living room created the perfect setup for movie nights. Overall, this home exceeded all my expectations. It had everything we needed for relaxation and entertainment, and it’s clear the hosts put a lot of care into ensuring their guests have a fantastic experience. I highly recommend staying here!

Perfect for Extended Family or Group

We checked in on New Year's Day and stayed for 4 nights. We had 6 adults, 4 children (ages 2.5-7). Communication w/property manager was excellent from the moment we booked right through checkout. He and/or his wife answered all questions/issues professionally and promptly. This is a huge plus imo. The house itself is clean, well-taken care of, well-equipped. Kudos to the housekeeper who worked hard to get the house in great shape for us after NYE. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, large kitchen, dining table that was big enough for all of us, and the layout of the house worked well for us to have separate spaces for privacy but lots of areas to be together as well. Loved that each bedroom has a bathroom, although there is a jack n jill bath upstairs that services both the bunk bedroom and a queen bedroom. This was not a problem for us since kids were in the bunk beds. The property has neighbors on all sides so outdoor privacy is limited, but this also was not a problem for us, especially since it was winter. We would have like to use the outdoor fireplace area, but we didn't have time. Skiing was close by but this is not ski in-ski out. From what we could tell, there is no walkability to restaurants, etc, but things are a quick and easy drive away. All in all we had a great stay and would highly recommend.

Magical

Do not hesitate to book this property if you are going to be in Big Bear. I am delayed writing this due to having surgery right after Christmas. Gary is amazing at responding to questions and having the property ready and welcoming. He is worth booking your trip at this property. The house is just beautiful and so clean. It is an understatement to say it feels like home. The furniture is new and very comfortable. Seriously we wish this property was our own. We could move right in turnkey and would be at home and happy. When we walked in there was a beautiful Christmas Tree twinkling away in the corner of the living room. We lit the fire place and my goodness we never wanted to leave. The house is nice a large, the rooms are large and we never felt like we were on top of each other. The kitchen was well stoked with every kind of kitchen item needed from beautiful new China to plastic for outside or children. My son and husband are both outstanding cooks and there was nothing missing and we ate in for breakfast and dinner. The beds are very comfortable and all of the linen from bedding to bath were white and soft. The house with no surprise came with an outstanding laundry room set up. The main bathrooms are beyond beautiful and luxurious. Clean clean!! The back yard was magical for our 2 year old Granddaughter. The sweet statue bears the house name sake are so adorable. The swing set and climbing gym kept her busy and having fun. There is the most beautiful outside covered area near the fireplace that you can sit and enjoy or dine. We did not use the jacuzzi. We will stay here again with no hesitation.

Nothing negative to say about this place! Great for multiple families! Less than 10min drive to Big Bear Village! This place has all the amenities and all the modern upgrades you could ever need! Communication and check in/out was a breeze!! Would definitely stay here again ! Thanks Main Lair!

Family Ski Vacation at Big Bear

The home was beautiful with a great layout. It was very clean and very well equipped. The location was very close to the ski slopes and to shopping and entertainment. Gary the Host was particularly friendly, responsive, knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, we wholeheartedly recommend this rental.

Amazing family house for NYE week!

House was perfect and well equipped for our family and my sister’s family! 4 adults, 3 toddlers. The Christmas tree and fireplace made our evenings so cozy and memorable! The backyard was awesome for sledding, snow play, and the swing set was in great condition! Neighborhood was quiet and fun to do a morninh stroll. We only went into town 2x because we enjoyed the house so much. Gary was SUPER responsive and accommodating!! We will be back soon!

Idyllic Christmas Cabin!

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas at this cabin and my family is already talking about going back. It's a beautiful and well kept home and was perfect for our family Christmas. Big Bear Paradise

The property was beautiful and super cozy. We didnt leave. Global warming is real. Big Bear Lake was dried up, and we have gone at this time in the past it is usually snowing (even lightly). No snow, no lake unfortunately, but we had a good time on property. Lots of games and activities! Neighborhood was nice to walk around too.

A perfect company retreat

A group of 10 of us had a wonderful memorable time staying here. The house was very clean and had enough of everything you might need - kitchenware, appliances, and amenities. Our favorite part was the awesome back patio; An outdoor fireplace, the lounging area, and a huge spot-clean hot tub(the best we’ve seen) defined the luxury retreat. The host Gary told me we would like it, and it was beyond our expectations. Gary was very helpful, organized, and warm-welcoming from the very beginning of our conversation, throughout our stay, to our departure. We truly appreciated the thoughtfulness and the consideration the owner and the host put into this home for the guests.

Wonderful family-friendly home

We had an excellent time at the Main Lair. The house was very well designed and decorated. The backyard was perfect for kiddos and outdoor BBQ with outdoor dining. The owners are very thoughtful about providing amenities and games. Everything was very clean and worked well. The neighborhood is very cute too. Amazing home!

Amazing is an understatement when it comes to this house! There is no shortage of things to do! It comes equipped with many games and everything you possibly need to have a comfortable stay. From the kitchen being stocked with all the essentials to the amazing patio area, you’ll have everything and anything you need to have a memorable time! Loved staying here, will definitely be back!

Great Stay!

Our stay at the Main Lair was great! House is appointed with everything you need. We utilized hot tub which was very nice, outdoor dining area, outdoor play area. My kids loved the popcorn machine. We are a family of four and usually travel with a few extended family members. There was plenty of space for all of us. House was very clean, floors as well. Host Gary was very responsive. Location is in a nice quiet neighborhood and close to stores. We are hoping to make a trip back in winter time.

Great Trip

Such a beautiful house! We rented the home for my son's 2nd birthday. The kids had such a great time playing in the back yard. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and grilling for the weekend. Only thing I would say is it was hard for us to get the house to a comfortable temperature. Upstairs would be too warm and then downstairs too cold. But that is very subjective. We all loved the house and plan to come back again during the summer and make our trip during the winter months a yearly thing. Gary was very nice and quick to respond. A suggestion, since it's a family friendly home; maybe provide renters access to a baby gate to put at the bottom or top of the stairs. My son was driving me crazy wanting to play on the steps. Thank you for a wonderful time!

We loved our stay at the Main Lair!

My family and I had a great experience staying at the Main Lair! The property is exactly as described online. It was very clean, fully stocked and everything was in working conditions. My kids loved all the games and the playground outback. The outdoor fireplace and lounge was a special treat as well. Gary was easy to work with and very communicative. We'd definitely stay again!

Absolutely amazing!!

This house is amazing! Great location right by the lake and close to town! Our family really enjoyed staying here and will definitely go back! The beds are very comfortable (main beds are all queen size, besides the pullouts and the bunks). Gary, the property manager, was extremely helpful and very accommodating, any questions we had...he was on it! 5 out of 5 stars!!
