The ARTIST'S RETREAT CARRIAGE HOUSE is a Beautifully Decorated one bedroom (King bed) Carriage House situated in a Very Private Wooded setting, at the end of a private road. The TRAILS of ACADIA NATIONAL PARK and the OCEAN are just a short walk from your door. Fresh water swimming at Echo Lake is just minutes away. This CHARMING COTTAGE is just a mile from the Village of Southwest Harbor and 13 miles from Bar Harbor. The Free Island Explorer Bus service is less than a 10 minute walk.
The living space offers open, skylighted cathedral ceilings; fully equipped kitchen with island for dining, and living room with GAS FIREPLACE; a King bed in the bedroom, and bath with shower and spacious vanity.
After a full day of exploring Acadia return to the Cottage for GRILLING or RELAX Under the STARS by the WOOD BURNING CHIMINEA. Comfy, cushioned Adirondack Chairs, side tables, Hammock, and Perennial Garden.
Includes Wi-Fi, satellite TV DVD, Gas Grill and Outdoor Chimenea.
FULLY EQUIPPED with linens, towels, kitchenware. A Washer/Dryer, Gas grill, storage for bikes, beach chairs, towels, and blankets, are all located on first floor.

This property was amazing! Lovely cottage next to many hiking trails. Nice and comfortable for my husband and I. We had everything we needed. The fire pit and hammock were a wonderful retreat outside after a day of hiking!The cottage was close to everything we wanted to do: Bar Harbor, Park loop road and Jordan Pond house, Bass Harbor lighthouse and lots of hiking trails.Ken and Cyd were amazing hosts! We would definitely stay here again when back to Mt. Desert Island.Thank you Ken and Cyd!Paul and Jill

This was our second stay at the Cottage while visiting Acadia and once again was perfect! We had an amazing trip. This cottage is close to everything in the Park while being located in a nice quiet area. The cottage is set back from the road surrounded by trees. We loved listening to the Owls at night with our windows opened. We loved staying here because the cottage has everything we need, super clean and Cyd and Ken the hosts are attentive, very friendly and easy to reach. The bed is very comfortable and the living space helped to make it feel like home, very relaxing. The cottage is the perfect place to stay for visiting Acadia, Bar Harbor and the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend this place and we will be back to visit again. We love Acadia! Cheryl and Bob

We had a great stay! The location is super convenient to Acadia and we had everything we needed in the house. There was a high level of attention to detail and cleanliness. The owners are easy to reach, happy to help, and super friendly. We arrived to find fresh flowers throughout, chocolates, fancy folded towels, a fully equipped kitchen, a hammock, and a fire pit all ready for our use. I'm not sure what else a person could need for a great stay. For a couple, this is the perfect place to stay for a visit to Bar Harbor, Acadia, or any of the other surrounding areas.

This place was super clean. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in away from home. Hosts were so helpful and attended to all our needs. It is so beautiful all around the property. Nice fire pit and comfortable chairs.

We booked this VRBO for our trip to Acadia National Park, and it exceeded our expectations. First, I want to mention how wonderful Cyd was as a host. She is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.The carriage house is beautiful and perfectly suited for a couple. It was spotless, well-equipped, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The thoughtful details and personal touches throughout the property really set it apart from other rentals we've stayed in.We enjoyed cooking several meals, taking advantage of the grill, and relaxing around the fire pit in the evenings. The property is surrounded by trees, providing plenty of privacy and a peaceful setting away from the main road. During our stay, we even had deer and wild turkeys wander through the area, which added to the charm and natural beauty of the location.The comfortable bed, in-unit laundry, and overall amenities made it feel like a home away from home. Having stayed in many VRBOs over the years, we can confidently say this was one of our favorite places. It's also an excellent location for exploring both Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.We highly recommend this property and would gladly stay here again.Jeff & Karina

We had a wonderful stay in Maine! Can’t say enough good things about the place we stayed as well as our hosts Cyd & Ken! Acadia National Park was breathtaking! Yes, during your stay we did experience some very, unusually warm temperatures however, b/c of our Coastal location in Maine, AC is very rarely necessary. We do have a large ceiling fan in the living room/kitchen area as well as two addtitional floor fans that can be used in any location of the carriege house.

Charming and comfortable

We agree with other reviewers about the very nice hosts, and the cleanliness and comfort of the carriage house, which is exactly as advertised. Highlights of our stay included walking to a nearby hike and beach, reading in the hammock under the pines, and enjoying the quiet and peacefulness of the location. We would definitely return.

Lovely setting- peaceful woods and you feel like you are in the canopy of trees. Located near southwest harbor on the “quiet side” of mount desert island. Highly recommend!

We spent a wonderful week on MDI and Ken & Cyd's carriage house was perfect. It's a very comfortable, immaculate, and well-equipped place for two. It's in a great location just outside of SW Harbor and the rest of the "quiet side". We walked every day, including one day directly from the property to the trail that takes you to Somes Sound. Totally recommend.

The carriage house was perfectly equipped and decorated. There were lots of small details that added to experience and atmosphere. Cyd was an outstanding host. She was very welcoming and hospitable. Perfect place

We loved this cozy cottage and was perfect for our anniversary! Perfect place to unwind and get away to enjoy hiking and the views of Acadia. Very well equipped and furnished, like a home away from home. Would definitely come back.

Great little cottage

Our stay was perfect. The place is nestled back in the woods a little ways, so it was nice and private. Everything looks as if it was recently updated, and there are a ton of little details that let you know the owners take pride in having people stay there. We'll definitely try and stay here again if we're ever back in the area.

It was a perfect getaway!

This was such a great place to stay! The owners were so wonderful and showed us such amazing hospitality. They were there to answer any question we had an even had fresh flowers waiting for us when we arrived! I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the Acadia area!
