The apartment is comfortable and well equipped. It is ideally located on the edge of Seahouses with access to many beautiful beaches and tourist attractions, including a lovely beach over the road, which can be viewed from the living room in the apartment. The location is quiet and it was a very peaceful stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return at some point.
Exactly what we were looking for. Good location. Apartment was really clean and well equipped

Had a fantastic few days in Seahouses. Good central location with lots to see and do around you
Property suited our needs. First floor flat, easy to access. Nice clean rooms and well equipped for anything you might need. A good base for experiencing this beautiful area.
Our second time in Seahouses and it didn’t disappoint! The apartment had everything we needed and the location was fantastic with the beach over the road and Seahouses a 5 minute walk. Both the apartment and area recommended
Ideal location and comfortable apartment. Well equipped and matched the description. Felt like staying in a home and lots of personal touches.
Owners very helpful and accommodating and appreciated them keeping in touch, again felt very personal.

Seahouses holiday flat.
Buckets and Spades was an excellent choice for our short break holiday. Next to the coast road with uninterrupted views of the Farne Islands, it offered comfortable, clean and well equipped accommodation for the four of us. It is a short walk from the village and it’s amenities and a stone’s throw from a wonderful sandy beach. We would thoroughly recommend it.

A good location in terms of access to Seahouses and the beach.
Buckets and Spades was lovely and clean and comfortable. Great to be so close to the harbour, town and beach and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Farne Islands. My only slight disappointment was that the photos and details suggested you looked straight out over the sea. There was a lovely view up the coast looking side on out of the lounge window but it was not the one suggested. The photo on the website was taken from in front of the building.
Really well appointed kitchen and lovely beds and bedding.
It was warm, quiet and relaxing. Thank you.

Perfect position for the beach and the town.
The property is within easy walking distance of the town and straight across from the beach. Perfect position on the benches on the headland to watch the sea and the sunset...and on one occasion the dolphins as well. The nightly arrival of a heron on the rocks was an added bonus.
The flat is clean and compact with everything you could possibly need. Slight niggle of the hot water pressure and temperature and that it takes a long time to reach the tap. A shower in the ensuite would also be useful. None of this stops it being a perfect place to stay. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Bob and Linda.

Definitely a 'Home from Home' apartment!
What an ideal base Seahouses is for exploring the area. The 'Bucket & Spades' apartment is ideally located just a short, flat walk into Seahouses itself with beautiful views of the Farne Islands and the sea. Well equipped, clean and comfortable with everything you could need including your own parking space plus a lovely beach just across the road.
Bob and Linda were very helpful and the hospitality and welcome you get from people in Northumberland; whether it's in a shop, on a trip or in a restaurant has an extra kind of warmth mixed in with their friendliness - I definitely want to go back.
This holiday was aimed at giving my 78 year old mum a change of scenery for a week and she thoroughly enjoyed it and was also very tired by the time we got back home! We visited many places and would recommend them all; Bamburgh (Grace Darling Museum worth a visit), Amble (a lovely port with wooden pods where people are selling their crafts, fudge, trinkets, paintings etc), Alnwick Gardens and the next day we did Alnwick shops (although a younger family could probably get them both done in a day, we didn't visit the castle). If you're into reading, visit Barter Books - one of the largest 2nd hand bookshops based in a former railway station at Alnwick. You can sit and read them while you are there and they have a very wide range of subjects to choose from.
Rothbury is a lovely town/village and on the way you can visit Cragside House and Gardens (not open on a Monday though!) We also visited Berwick and a few other villages. Can highly recommend the Craster Arms at Beadnell and also the Olde Ship Inn at Seahouses. Check the tide times for Holy Island on the internet and plan what time to go or, there is a board up at Holy Island with the times on. We also went on a boat trip (Golden Gate) to the Farne Islands and landed at the famouse lighthouse where Grace Darling lived. The trip was informative and you had the option to go into the lighthouse. This particular trip you don't get attacked by the birds - so check which tour you go with. With the others, you pay for the boat trip and if it's one where you land on the Islands, you pay a separate landing fee to the National Trust once you've bought your boat ticket.
All in all, a great stay in a great apartment with plenty to see and do. Look forward to going back.
Had a wonderful holiday. We were very lucky with the weather. Very pleased to find instructions for cooker etc. Excellent location. wonderful to sit and watch the the people on the beach and the wonderful sunsets. Perhaps more detailed information on discarding the rubbish and re-cycling. We were not too sure whether we were supposed to take it down to the bins or not.
We enjoyed our week staying at Buckets and Spades. It was lovely to see the sea from the living room windows. We really liked the bathroom with the shower in it. We slept very well on the comfortable large bed. We love Northumberland and returning to the comforts of Buckets and Spades each day was perfect. Thank you for providing everything we needed to make our stay so comfortable.
We have been coming to Northumberland since 2010, usually staying in Beadnall. This apartment didn't disappoint. Great location and lovely comfortable apartment. Had a little trouble understanding the night storage heaters, but Bob and Linda were easy to contact and a great help, we soon had the apartment warm and cosy.
Thank you

Great location rubbish sleep!!
We had a brilliant weekend at Buckets & Spades apartment in Seahouses. The location is right in front of the beach coastal path, it takes about an hours stroll to Bamburgh Castle along the beach. The apartment is a great size. It's well equipped with everything needed for a little holiday.. Had a issue about the super kingsized bed being very uncomfortable to sleep on, it's a zip and lock system, but where the mattresses meet is very uncomfortable all that is needed is a decent mattresses topper and the bed would be so much more comfortable. The apartment above had noisy guests and with it being a old building we could hear every step and conversion they had, this kept us awake every night and with a uncomfortable bed and lumpy pillows made for a restless weekend. But regardless of this annoyance we really enjoyed Seahouses it's a beautiful part of Northumberland and will be visiting again, but not to this apartment.
We had a 4 night stay, was a vert clean 1st floor flat, 2 bathrooms, 2 good sized bedrooms & kitchen with every kitchen utensil fully stocked. Ample side parking for 2 vehicles per flat. The flat was very secure, key code communal access & individual flat key. Heating is storage heaters which we didn’t know how to work at first but the owners gave instructions promptly over the phone to resolve. We also had our dog, there were no problems, lawn at the back of the house for her “bedtime walk”
The flat has a beach view from the side window which is located 2 minute walk away. Seahouses is a fantastic beach to rival any in the uk.
We have stopped in other flats in Seahouses but this was the best.
We will undoubtedly return to this flat & would fully recommend.

Not as pictures
Stay was ok but not quite as shown in pictures. Decor was dated and there was flooring missing around toilet and seal round bath was coming loose! My wife caught her new jeans on a sharp edge on the bedroom radiator and pulled the material. It was sharp enough to have caused a nasty cut had she not been wearing jeans and I would worry if a child caught themselves. The property is in a superb location.
Lovely apartment and excellent parking .
Everything you need is there and only a short walk in Seahouses. Lovely views of Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle just outside the building .
Excellent communication with Bob and Linda.
Only minor thing would be the noise from upstairs apartment .

Hot water and water use problems. Poor reaction from owners who did not believe us.
Sunday morning no hot water anywhere except in shower on separate system. Tried to sort in various ways. Reported to owners 9am Monday morning who showed no sense of urgency. They live 60 miles away from property! Plumber arrived Tuesday morning and discovered electrical fault. Very disappointing. They should have a local agent.Water system not suitable for 2 bathrooms as 2nd one and kitchen were without water when bath used in en-suite one. We run 60 properties ourselves and know how landlords should behave!

We both grew up in the North East and live here still. We have been regular visitors to Seahouses and the Northumberland area certainly for most of our adult lives. We have holidayed with our children as well as regular day trips in the summer so know these beautiful area's very well. We hope others will enjoy the benefits we love too.
Why they chose this property
We feel the property is beautifully positioned opposite the Farne Islands and looking North to Bamburgh Castle. and only a 'stones throw' from the beach. We are always rested and refreshed after a visit.
