About this property
High Desert Oasis! Cozy house in Cottonwood near Sedona, with Deck & Privacy
High Desert Oasis! Beautiful home on the top of a hill nestled in the middle of pine trees. Surrounded by ponderosas and other pines trees, a perfect spot for the hot summer days in Arizona, with nice shaded areas, keeping the house cool and comfortable. Your peaceful home away from home.
The location is optimum. We are minutes from everything from grocery shops to restaurants to hikes and to varied activities.
Old town Cottonwood has so much to offer, from shopping to restaurants and many wine tastings.
Clarkdale with Tuzigoot National Monument, Verde Canyon Railroad, and the Arizona Copper Art Museum is an unforgettable place and 10 minutes away.
Sedona is only 15 minutes away with over 400 hiking trails. We are only 20 miles from Slide Rock State Park and the beautiful hikes of Oak Creek Canyon
Jerome, one day called a ghost town, today is a quaint artistic town full of great wineries, and it is only 6 miles away.
We are only 20 minutes from Camp Verde and their great antique and cowboy shops (and the best Italian restaurant in the area), Montezuma well and Montezuma Castle National Monuments, and Out of Africa Wildlife Park.
Page Springs, 20 minutes away, has great wineries, tasting rooms and Up the Creek Restaurant, one of our favorites.
Take a day trip to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Petrified Forrest and so much more!
Our home is 1200 square feet with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2 carports. Open concept living-dinning-kitchen with built-in speakers for bluetooth is very comfortable.
The kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, freezer, double oven/range, dishwasher, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes and utensils, and everything else you can dream to need in your kitchen.
Master bedroom with king-size bed and a large TV streaming channels through Roku, and DVD player. A collection of books about the area and other places in Arizona are located between the master bedroom and bathroom. The master bathroom has beautiful tiles reminiscent of the surrounding red rocks, generous corner shower and ample storage.
The second bedroom has a full-size bed and it is adjacent to a full bath with jetted tub. Cozy and homey with wood floors and all of the tile in the house is the color of the local red rocks. The living room and bedrooms have original wood flooring.
Separate laundry room has a washer, dryer, ironing board and iron, and cleaning supplies.
The house has filtered water system with a water softener to compensate for the extremely hard water of the desert.
The home is quite comfortable year-round with swamp cooler, AC, and baseboard heat.
Desert landscaped yard with ponderosa pines, a large gazebo with lounging chairs for enjoying the outdoors and the birds around the many trees. A beautiful deck with a full-size grill and patio table (seats 6) for the morning sun, complete with lots of hummingbirds and views of the Mingus mountain.

About the host
Hosted by Dora Redman
Tom and Dora love the Verde Valley. Tom runs a lodge in Alaska in the summer and has enjoyed the Sedona area in the winter months for decades. You can see his lodge at talkeetnadenaliviewlodge.com and his fishing guide business at talkeetnafishing.com. Dora is a night sky photographer originally from Brazil. You can see her work displayed throughout the house and at auroradora.com. They have lived in Alaska for many years but love the mild winters in the Verde Valley for hiking, ATV trails, wineries, amazing night skies, and the red rock views.
Why they chose this property
For years we have been looking for the perfect place in the Verde Valley. When we saw the beautiful mature trees around the house, the deck facing the sunrise with views of Mingus Mountain and the valley, and the open concept design of the house, we knew we had found our place.
