Classic, clean, peaceful cape cod home in a quiet, safe, family neighborhood. Home has been completely remodeled with granite countertops, Anderson windows, wide pine floors, and new furnishings. Lots of living space in the living/dining areas and on the deck, overlooking the back yard. Updated kitchen with all stainless appliances. Central air conditioning. High speed internet and WIFI helps you stay connected as well. Downstairs first floor queen size bedroom, and full bathroom. Upstairs king size bedroom, another full bathroom, and a third bedroom with bunk beds, and a day bed that pulls out into a king size. Beautiful seashell driveway with seashell paths leading to the outdoor shower, hammock and deck overlooking the grassy backyard which is big enough for ball-playing or bean-bag toss, etc. Friends and family members will enjoy the peaceful walks by the ocean. Entertain on the back deck with gas grill. Parents will appreciate the peaceful, quiet and safe neighborhood. Walk past nine houses to arrive at the private neighborhood path over the sand dunes to Hardings Beach.
You can also walk to Barn Hill Landing where you can watch lobster boats, or fish from the dock. Rent kayaks and paddleboards on the scenic ocean harbor of Oyster Pond, which leads to Chatham Village. Bright, sunny rooms make this the perfect, peaceful beach retreat!

Sleeps 8~~One King, One Queen, Twin Bunks, Trundle Day Bed that converts to king size, and Double Pull out sofa.

While renting this property, you can walk 1/5th of a mile to Hardings Beach within the private neighborhood, and follow the path over the sand dunes down to the beach. Hardings beach has a lifeguard during the summer months, and is safe for young children. There are few waves at this beach and the water is relatively warm because it is protected by the Nantucket Sound. Kids will have fun catching sand crabs, following the sand dune paths and building sand castles. You don't have the extreme low tides and high tides you can experience on the Bay side of Cape Cod. You can swim, fly a kite, or walk on the beach for a mile to Oyster River or to Stage Harbor Lighthouse. This beach is surrounded by Cape Cod sand dunes and the beach and ocean-side neighborhood are beautiful and peaceful

Wonderful location and very clean. Linda was a terrific host. We walked to the beach everyday and the neighborhood provides a great place to jog in the mornings. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The deck is great. Laundry soap, hand soap, dish/ dishwasher soap were provided… very thoughtful.

Beautiful home in Chatham walking distance to Hardings beach and close to town. I stayed with my three boys, and we had a lovely time. The house was clean, well stocked and perfect for a family vacation. My mother came and stayed at a local motel and Hardings beach was perfect for her as parking was close to the beach and an easy walk to the ocean for her. We went to a Chatham As game, took a day trip to Nantucket, and enjoyed the local beaches and restaurants. Truly a very special stay - thank you for sharing your special home with us.

Why they chose this property

This is a classic New England Cape Cod house in a peaceful, oceanside-side neighborhood. The perfect getaway for making memories in Chatham. We love that you can walk to the beautiful white sandy beach of Hardings Beach, and walk to the Stage Harbor Lighthouse by following the path for a mile behind the sand dunes. Walk to the left of the lighthouse, and you’ll arrive at an amazing ocean inlet beach, usually only accessed by boat. You can also walk to Barn Hill landing on Oyster River where you can watch lobster boats, fish off the dock, collect seashells, or catch crabs in a crab trap.

This home was originally owned and built by a schoolteacher, Alice Dobbins. She asked her middle school students to research and design an original Cape Cod house—-and she built this house based on their design! The original staircase to the upstairs was accessed through a closet and had a rope for a railing. While we did add a dormer upstairs to finish the attic space into two bedrooms, we took care to not change the footprint of the original house or to change the original classic Cape Cod design.

The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes. There's a beach cart and all the beach gear you'll need. You walk past nine houses to get to the private neighborhood path down the sand dunes to Hardings Beach.
