If stairs are not an issue, this is the perfect property for two people. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Quiet. Beautiful sunrises. The dock was a wonderful, relaxing place to sit and soak up this lovely spot of coastal beauty.
My wife, the first hour we were at the carriage house coudn't stop saying how cute this property is...the owners were very responsive to questions we had and provided late check in due to our travel arrangments. Close to all the fun and adventures in the Acadia park area.
From the moment we arrived we loved the cottage! Perfect for the two of us! We bought local seafood and cooked in almost every night while enjoying the solitude of property. Would absolutely come back again and stay. Bonnie was so easy to work with and the cottage was clean and very well appointed!
Wonderful location. Quiet and peaceful. Off the beaten path but close enough to all the action of Bar Harbor. Bonnie was very helpful with recommendations from hiking to sea kayaking to restaurants. Would highly recommend.
Loved everything about this darling carriage house in Gouldsboro, ME. It was about an hour drive to bar Harbor and parts of the park. That really isn't bad once you see how wide open and spread out everything is. It was great to go do the tourist attractions and come home to a great view, quiet location with stunning views and everything you need. Great hosts, great location, great stay!!
Everything as described and more. Visited during fall and although foggy, the bay tides were fascinating.
Tucked in dead end tree lined road.
House clean, lovely - everything you need.
My husband and I found the r & r we needed. It was a pleasure meeting Bonnie and we so appreciated the care taken to make the property so beautiful.
Only about 15 minutes to Acadia north and it remains a happy place for us.
Thank you
If you are looking for a perfect peaceful getaway for two, this is it. There are plenty of places to choose from to eat for dine in or take out. Many places to go see if you want to take an adventure get out and explore. Ellsworth is 20 min. and Bar Harbor Acadia National Park are under an hour away. We will definitely try to get back again. Thank you again Bonnie & Mark
We enjoyed our stay here! Very clean and comfortable. My husband found the chair in the living area was his favorite reading spot! Plenty of things to do in the area, Acadia, Schoonic Peninsula were awesome but we really enjoyed coming "home" to finish our day. As landlubbers, I was fascinated with the tides, the view was constantly changing. Unfortunately, we were never home or awake to see high tide. It was a bit buggy at night so don't forget insect repellent if you want to sit on the deck in the evening. The sunrise was beautiful every morning and you can sit on the deck and watch the lobster boats collecting their catch. There are plenty of places to dine without having to drive too far. We hope to be able to come back in the future!
My husband and I had a wonderful time visiting Maine and staying in this lovely carriage house. Very well maintained. Very clean. The kitchen was well stocked. The second I walked in the door I knew it was going to be a fantastic stay. Lot's to see in the area. Schoodic Penninsula, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor . . just some highlights of where we explored. It's about an hour drive to Acadia but well worth it - it's a beautiful drive. Bonnie was always quick to respond to our questions and left a list on the fridge of some of their favorite places to visit. We did most of them and were not disappointed!!! A perfect place for two. Highly recommend!!!! Beautiful views of the Gouldsboro bay from the bedroom, bathroom and living room windows. A small dock with Adirondack chairs to sit and watch the wildlife. Jordan Pond in Acadia is a must see!!!! Gorham Mountain Trail in Acadia was our favorite trail.
We have visited Coastal Maine (Boothbay area) for many years but this was our 1st time venturing this far north. We found it to be less commercial and more peaceful. The Carriage House cottage was a restful and serene haven. There are about 15 steps to climb to get up to this high perch.... where the views out every window are truly spectacular! But these steps are: inside, wide, well-built and strong with a very sturdy handrail. We really enjoyed stargazing on the balcony and on the viewing dock as it is sooo dark there, unlike the 24/7 lights at home. We also appreciated the sense of privacy. We LOVED: the color scheme, cleanliness, spacious kitchen counter, the seating throughout (especially the loveseat recliners), very comfortable bedding and towels, the quiet stillness, the sea breezes and the incredibly beautiful sunrises! We hope to be back for a longer stay next year.
Wonderful! We were very comfortable here and loved watching the fishermen work their boats in the bay. Everything was perfect! This is a very clean, private and beautiful location. It is accurately listed and the pictures are real pictures of this location. Bonnie was very responsive to any questions we had. We have stayed at several VRBO places, but this was the best. Note that if you plan to visit Arcadia National Park, it is a bit of a drive, but we loved it all. Thank you so much Bonnie!
This cottage is among the best we have stayed in. The view of Joy Bay at high tide is priceless. The cottage is roomy, well-designed, well-built, nicely appointed and tastefully decorated. It’s quiet and private, clean, and well supplied. The bed and bedding are nice and comfortable and the shower is great. The wi-fi signal could be beefed up, but we would definitely return. The owners' taste and concern for quality and value are clearly evident.
We traveled to Maine to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary looking for a perfect peaceful getaway and found it in this carriage house! We absolutely loved our stay in Gouldsboro. Has everything as described and more and only a few steps from the water. Enjoyed the sunrise views from every window. We have stayed at many places with Home/Away – VRBO over the years but this place was by far the cleanest and the most tastefully decorated with all the charm of New England. Plenty of places to choose from to dine at or take out. We enjoyed exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, under an hour away. We are already planning a return visit for next year! If you are looking for a perfect peaceful getaway for two, this is it. Thank you again Bonnie & Mark for sharing your beautiful place!
Being originally from the area we really appreciated the sights sounds and views of the property inside and out. All the touches of home. A great spot for vacation.
Beautiful cottage. Unfortunately the trip was cut short because of the arrival of Hurricane Lee. I needed to be able to get home for a doctor's appointment on time and there was no guarantee that the roads would be open. There is only one road and a delay would make me miss this appointment. It would have been nice to receive a partial refund but when I asked I received no response. That was disappointing for such a wonderful first experience.
We absolutely loved our stay in Gouldsboro. The carriage house was very nice and clean, and only a few steps from the water. It was fun exploring the beach after the tide went out. Very secluded spot and never even saw a neighbor. Its about a 45-1 hour drive to Acadia National Park and at least 15 minutes from any kind of restaurant, but other than that our hosts were great and answered all our questions. Would definately stay here again.
The photos do not do this property justice. Bonnie and Mark are the most gracious hosts. The cottage is immaculate, and is stocked with anything you could need, plus things you didn’t know you might want. The dock and views are better than any resort, and private. 5 stars, you want to pick this property !!!!
