Everything about this property met or exceeded expectations. John the host was very welcoming and helpful getting us settled & oriented. Sadly the weather didn't cooperate so we were not able to take full advantage of all the amenities; e.g., kayaks. Treetops is a great place to anchor and explore the surrounding area. Plus the views are awesome!
The Treetops property was absolutely gorgeous. The cottage is a few steps down the path from the main residence, which is lined with beautiful gardens and a dry stream bed. Further down the hill there’s delightful little spot with a deck and chairs where you can look over the water. There’s an abundance of windows in the cottage that let in lots of light and offers beautiful vistas at every turn. My favorite spot was a reading nook where you could sit with your choice from dozens of great titles they have tucked around the house and still gaze at Cadillac Mountain in the distance. The small kitchen is well appointed with everything that you could need. John was a thoughtful host and made sure that we had everything we needed to be comfortable. He took my husband on a boat ride where they saw seals in Flanders Bay.We can’t wait to come back!
This site was a gorgeous house and location, with stunning views from the back deck and upper screened-in porch, and a 4-min. walk to the boathouse and water. Also wonderfully generous hosts, easy access to the Schoodic Peninsula and Mt. Desert Island, and a very comfy king-size bed!
Beautiful stay and was everything the posting said it would be. The hosts are extremely generous in sharing their property, gardens and kayaks to access the quiet water off of their property. We loved it.
Wonderful location with extraordinarily gracious hosts. Beautiful waterfront, and many watercraft choices. Close enough to Acadia to enjoy the Park, but far enough away to avoid the craziness. We enjoyed our week so much we’ll be doubling it next year.
We had a remarkable stay. John and Ann were great hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful and stunning. We could not have picked a more perfect place. Everyday was breathtaking. All our accommodations were perfect. It as so hard to leave. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
This is a marvelous property. The house is beautifully done and tastefully decorated, The hosts are lovely people and were eager to ensure our stay was comfortable as possible. We could not have asked for more.
John and Ann are superb hosts. I've never stayed in a VRBO where a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, and a bowl of fruit were waiting for us when we checked in, or been offered a two-hour boat-ride on the owners' boat. The house was just as advertised -- gorgeous views of the bay from every level, a variety of outdoor seating options, and a third-floor loft to retreat to on a rainy day to watch a movie on Netflix, or to do an exercise class on Zoom, or to do some art or writing at the little desk. Kayaks were available for exploring the shore, beautiful flower gardens being actively worked on by John and Ann, and a dense bit of forest with a variety of conifers and deciduous trees hosting many birds. The Schoodic Peninsula was a great place for birdwatchers during the first week of June -- warblers and flycatchers and thrushes galore, singing their hearts out. We never felt the need to go to Mt. Desert Island, having been there often over the years, because there are so many preserves on the Schoodic Peninsula with hiking trails -- we found a different place to explore every day during the week we were there. If you need to escape from the busy-ness of life, this is the perfect place to do so.
The property far exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfect and we were well taken care of by our hosts. We were very comfortable inside and enjoyed the outside of the property as well. The views were spectacular from all 3 levels of the home. We took advantage of using the kayaks provided in the bay. The location was convenient to Acadia NP, Schoodic Point, grocery stores, restaurants and gas.
A great stay, in a great location, with great views and easy water access. The hosts are welcoming, knowledgeable, and eager to make you feel comfortable. The cottage is three floors, with a superb deck. Every floor offers great views of Frenchman's Bay and Acadia. Comfortable and cosy, you are literally among the treetops! A grand stay.
This was our 3rd year staying at this cottage and we loved everything about it! Location, perfect! View, perfection! Our hosts, amazing! Everything you need is at your fingertips and the cottage was perfect, as usual. John, Ann and Brandy are wonderful hosts and we will be back for year 4 next year!
We’ve have stayed at many VRBO’s, this was by far the best experience we’ve ever had. John and Ann went above and beyond making sure our home was well stocked, clean and comfortable. The surrounding gardens are gorgeous and the view from the screened in porch was simply beautiful. We can’t wait to return.
This cottage exceeded our expectations. From the moment we pulled up and were welcomed by our gracious host, John, to our last morning cup of coffee on the deck, we were able to enjoy and relax. We HIGHLY recommend John’s cottage and we plan to return!
Absolutely best VRBO experience we have ever had! Our hosts were awesome and the cottage was beautiful and fully equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our week exploring Acadia on both MDI and the Schoodic peninsula. Highly recommend- our host, John, invited us for a ride in Frenchman’s Bay on his boat and with my hubby suffering from a touch of motion sickness from a sailing excursion previously we had to decline. Enjoyed a happy hour with our hosts in their gorgeous main house overlooking the meticulously maintained gardens. It was a pleasure to meet such wonderful hosts and would love to come back!
The property is amazing! Beauty every where you look. So peaceful and relaxing. John and Ann were wonderful hosts. John helped carry our luggage to the cottage. They left us a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers upon check-in. Very helpful with things to do in the area. Lovely little tree top cottage. Convenient to area attractions. Would stay here again in the future.
Every day was different....the sky, the water, the weather...and it was all breathtakingly beautiful. In a prime location to explore all of Acadia National Park, Tree Tops is the perfect place for a home base with views and amenities to make a day in a lovely experience. The hosts, John and Ann see to your every need while preserving your privacy.
We loved the views. We were able to soak in the peace and quiet of nature. The second level porch was an amazing view and we spent hours there. John was a hospitable host who looked for ways to make our stay more comfortable. His personal boat tour was a highlight. We would love to go back again someday!
We had a wonderful time at the Treetop Cottage. Beautiful views of the bay, along with lovely gardens surrounding the homes helped us relax from our long drive. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was so nice to return to after our adventures during the day! We highly recommend. If we ever get back to Maine, we would definitely stay again!
Everything about this property was amazing! The hosts were always quick to respond before our arrival and made sure we didn’t need anything during our visit. They have everything you need there and the views are stunning. We felt so relaxed and comfortable during our stay and definitely plan to return soon. We sat on the deck a lot and just enjoyed nature. Definitely a 10/10 experience!
John and Anne are wonderful hosts who went above and beyond to make us feel so welcome. The property is even more incredible in person.
You can tell that so much thought went into designing the cottage and main house. Loved having dinner on the deck and spending evenings on the screened-in porch overlooking Cadillac mtn. Great location out of the way, but still accessible to Acadia. Really look forward to returning-thanks for everything, John!

Folks, thank you for your visit and are pleased you enjoyed your stay. And, thank you for the kind words.
We would hope you might return at some point. Best wishes.......jb
As our second time staying here, the views do not get old! Such a wonderful home base from our trip. The cottage is so comfy and had everything we needed. The deck, the screen porch, the deck by the water! Already planning our next stay! The hosts are amazing, friendly and full of good information about the area hiking and places to eat. You will not be disappointed about anything staying here. We miss it already!
It was a beautiful, clean, tree house with gardens, and beach front views. The hosts greeted us and left fresh flowers and cheese, fruit and wine. We felt very special.
They also took us out in their boat which we will always remember.
We would stay here again. It was wonderful.
This was our third time staying at Treetops and each time it gets better. John is a wonderful host, ensuring that you have everything you need. He also took us on a wonderful boat cruise for an afternoon. It’s far enough from the crowds but close enough to the action. There is so much to see and do that you can never be bored. I look forward to our next visit.

Why they chose this property
This property immediately impressed us, and so obviously met every criteria for a home on the Maine coast: VIEW!! An amazing panoramic view of Frenchman Bay, the waterfront of the property, the beautiful mountains of Acadia, the lights of Bar Harbor at night, and the charm of the Schoodic Peninsula, with a spectacular section of Acadia Ntl. Park in our neighborhood, for biking, hiking, paddling, and exploring the many villages and arts activities.
What makes this property unique
A short drive if you want to visit Mt. Desert Island and Bar Harbor, or just 15 minutes to Winter Harbor: restaurants, galleries, shopping, and the beautiful Schoodic Section of Acadia Ntl. Park. The cottage is very private, roomy, completely and tastefully decorated and supplied, and quiet, surrounded by perennial gardens and 2 outdoor spaces, both with gorgeous views.
