We loved the location of Strupak Cottage. The extra amenities, coffee maker, washer, clothes line, were greatly appreciated. We felt like we were at home, able to relax and enjoy ourselves between the numerous activities available in Nelson.

Great location for exploring Nelson
Cute and clean little house in a nice neighborhood. We could walk into town for dinner, and there were nice coffee/breakfast spots just a few blocks away. Roz was great to work with on the reservation, and had lots of helpful information about things to do in the area.

This is a lovely period rental, lovingly restored, neatly maintained and well stocked.
This is a lovely period rental, lovingly restored, neatly maintained and well stocked. As a holiday bach, this property is carefree. And you step back in time to live and learn something about Old Nelson.
Lovely little cottage. Care and attention to detail, aesthetic and every little thing we needed. Near town, gardens and galleries. A fun and peaceful escape. Cute garden full of birds. Top marks! Thanks Roz we'll be back!
Couldn't have got a better spot in Nelson. Being dog friendly was great. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and felt very welcoming. I had a problem with my dog who required emergency veterinary care and was able to stay on an extra night as no immediate incoming guests. A very understanding and empathetic host.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I'm glad you enjoyed the cottage and I hope Frankie has made a full recovery.
We quite we enjoyed staying at the cottage. Pre-check-in correspondence was clear and prompt. The host invited us to check-in early on the day we were arriving, as the place was available, which was handy for us, and very generous. Nelson is a wonderful place, with lots of highlights. We liked the Prince Albert and the Sprig & Fern for dinner, and the hikes above the cottage for good scenic walks. The WOW is incredible, if that kind of art speaks to you. The cottage was clean, homey, and inviting. The cottage is on a residential street, but the bedroom is on the street side of the cottage, and the street is a bit busy, especially during the day. The neighbourhood is quiet, the neighbours were nice, easy parking outside. Having the nice backyard, and the lovely bright garden room out back was a highlight. Easy to walk to town for the central sights, and easy to drive to the sights that were further away. Thanks again to Roz.

My husband and I loved our stay at Strupak Cottage.
My husband and I loved our stay at Strupak Cottage. We had a pretty full schedule while we were in Nelson and it was really nice to feel like we had a proper home to go to. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, the umbrella we found was particularly useful for the days we were there :-) Bed was comfy and the place was cosy. Even though it was too wet to go out to the garden, we enjoyed having our breakfast in the little conservatory. Very convenient location for walking to town.

About the host
Hosted by Roz Speirs
I have been welcoming guests to my holiday homes since 2004. I take great pride in renovating, decorating and maintaining each property to a high standard to ensure that they provide a comfortable home away from home for guests.
I emigrated to New Zealand from Scotland in 2002 attracted by Nelson’s wonderful climate and lifestyle. I met my husband here who was born and raised in Nelson and returned home after working in North Island and the UK. In addition to running the holiday homes, I am a glass artist (www.clarityglass.co.nz) and my husband owns a fishing and diving store. We live close to all the holiday homes so are on hand to sort out any little problems that might arise.
Having rented many baches and holiday homes over the years I know what’s important to guests: cleanliness, a relaxing outdoor space, comfortable beds and top quality linen for a great night’s sleep, and provision of the “little things” like pantry basics, kitchen roll, first aid kits and sharp kitchen knives!
Why they chose this property
The Wood area is a residential area tucked between the hills and Nelson City Centre. It is an easy flat walk to town, about 10 - 15 minutes. However there are lots of local amenities too including the tiny Sprig and Fern Pub, Bobby Franks Cafe, Milton St Takeaway and a post office/dairy. There are great walks on the doorstep - up the centre of NZ for great views over the city, or more leisurely walks along the Maitai River.
What makes this property unique
Strupak Cottage has a lovely sunny garden with views of the hills, a lovely place for a morning coffee or to read a book.
