Herbert, Cosy Dell Crib Forest Retreat

Private crib ideal for families or couples. Two bedrooms – one room with two sets of bunks (top bunks suitable for children or small adults only) and one room with a queen bed. Also a port-a-cot for a baby.

Fully furnished with a new fully-equipped kitchen, heat-pump, and linen supplied.

Great for a weekend away or a family holiday. Wonderful outdoors area to sit, relax or dine. Enjoy forest walks, mountain biking, the native bird life, and explore the Wainakarua River with ample swimming holes.

Cosy in the winter – ideal for curling up with a book!

Central location from which to explore the wider North Otago region - located 30 minutes from Oamaru and 1 hour from Dunedin. Only 15 minutes from the beaches at Kakanui and the townships of Moeraki and Hampden (supermarket, garage, hotel, and fish and chip shop).

We loved the location. It was perfect for our outdoor activities of cycling and walking. The house was very comfortable for the four of us. We loved how sunny the living area was and how warm and comfortable the beds were. There was everything in the kitchen we needed and we appreciated the condiments and tea and coffee. This was a great place to stay. Weather was fantastic and the location ideal for a most relaxing break. Walking the area was also very nice. Birdlife had a great range and the rabbits kept popping up. Overall a most pleasant experience and recommended. The house had everything you could want.

This area is almost a secret, the properties are all in harmony with the natural bush setting. We did lots of walks and general exploration of the bush and streams etc, tried fishing and fishing is not all about the fish. We travelled down roads and tracks that we had always intended to explore, we even came across some very young wild pigs. A great place to recharge the batteries.

A nice getaway

We could have easily stayed a lot longer. Cosy Dell crib is just a short walk to a river which our young children could easily walk to the other side, collect colourful rocks and build dams. There were lots of kids games, DVDs and books to amuse us and we also went on a few forest walks. The crib is nice and clean and it ticks all boxes with washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. It really is a nice spot and one just to relax and unwind.

Tranquility

We loved our time at Cosy Dell. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the house is clean and very comfortable with everything you could need plus more. An ideal location if all you want to do is relax and recharge but equally within easy reach of great walks and activities. Host communication was fantastic. We will definitely stay again.
