About this property
Wine Loft Cosy Country Retreat with Ocean Views
Set within 12 acres of enchanting rural gardens with distant ocean views, the 'Wine Loft' has been transformed into a bright, sunny sanctuary exuding cosy country charm. The open-plan living and dining area features a fireplace, perfect for relaxing evenings, and a verandah that offers breathtaking rural vistas and dazzling sunsets. Just 30 minutes from Hobart and a two-minute drive to the seaside village of Kettering and the Bruny Island Ferry, this retreat combines tranquillity and convenience
Nestled above what was once the wine storage of the Herons Rise Vineyard, this inviting sanctuary offers a unique escape with a blend of comfort and charm. The expansive living area, bathed in natural light, features cosy seating arrangements, a fireplace, and a large flat-screen TV, creating a perfect space for relaxation and family gatherings. Adjacent to the living area, the yard invites outdoor fun or quiet moments under the sky.
The open-plan kitchen is designed for culinary delights, with all the essentials at your fingertips. Share your meals at the timber dining table or step out onto the balcony, where seating for four provides a delightful setting for alfresco dining. Here, you can savour your meals while soaking in rural views.
At the end of the day, retreat to the serene primary bedroom, where a queen bed offers restful nights. The second bedroom, equipped with a queen bed and two single beds, is perfect for families or small groups. Two bathrooms—one full and one half—offer ample convenience for all guests.
Additional features include ample off-street parking and easy access to nearby attractions.
In summer, there are Tiger snakes about and we ask that you please wear closed shoes should you walk about the property. We also have several beehives, a small duck pond which is not enclosed, and a creek which borders the property, and children should not be allowed to wander about unaccompanied.
During your stay, you and your group will have the entire upper level to yourselves.
While we welcome guests to wander around the property, we do ask that you respect the privacy of other guests. We all like to enjoy the peace and beauty of our lovely environment. Please make yourselves at home!
Just 30 minutes from Hobart, Herons Vineyard offers a serene escape that feels a million miles away from every day worries. Located only 1.5 km from the picturesque seaside village of Kettering, this destination is not only the gateway to Bruny Island but a charming spot to explore on its own.
Kettering boasts delightful eateries with stunning marina views. Seawall Cafe and The Oyster Cove Inn are perfect for enjoying an alfresco beer and meal by the water. At the end of Ferry Road, Bruny Island Gateway Cafe serves fantastic brews and transforms into an Asian Fusion restaurant from 4-9 pm, offering delicious evening meals. On weekends, a roving pizza van adds to the culinary variety.
Indulge your sweet tooth at the local chocolatier, Nutpatch Chocolate Shop, where the exquisite chocolates are almost too beautiful to eat. Adjacent to the chocolate shop, Steamhouse Coffee Shop is a popular local haunt.
The Bruny Island ferry, departing regularly from early morning to late evening, offers a 20-minute journey to one of Tasmania’s most celebrated destinations. Known for its cheeses, wine, whiskey, seafood, pristine scenery, coastal walks, and native wildlife (including wallabies and seals), Bruny Island is a must-visit.
Just 20 minutes away, Kingston Beach provides an ideal spot for lunch or an ice cream by the shore, with an excellent selection of eateries and shops.
For a scenic drive, explore the beautiful southern coastline. Discover the Woodbridge Emporium for delicious cakes and lunches, and visit Peppermint Bay. Further along, Grandvewe Cheeses offers cheese tastings, meals, and magical views. Nearby, Five Bob Farm features a 3km sculpture trail.
Herons Vineyard also serves as a perfect base for a 40-minute drive to the Huon Valley, known for its renowned wineries, fresh produce, and spectacular scenery.
Whether you prefer an active holiday or a relaxing retreat, this quaint seaside village offers a central location to everything you need for a memorable stay.
Due to local regulations, we can happily host you for up to 90 nights. Any bookings that exceed this duration will be cancelled by Vrbo.
