About this property
Larchmont Heights, slightly out of town, peaceful, beautiful mountain views.
Late arrivals welcome!
ATTRACTIVE, WELL APPOINTED, FULLY SELF CONTAINED, ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT on our very private, elevated site overlooking Arthur's Point with surrounding, spectacular mountain views. Lots of sunshine, mostly sheltered and apart from the odd squeal from Shotover Jet's clients in the Canyon, very peaceful and quiet! If you like to be slightly out of town but still close enough to access all that town has to offer this may be the place for you. Free Netflix/Unlimited Broadband.
THE SPACE
The apartment is situated at the far end of my home but with quite separate access and parking. It has a well appointed lounge, bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom. There is a small outside deck with table and chairs. While there is a washing machine in the kitchen for your own use, a communal clothes dryer is located in a separate semi-outdoor area close by. This is accessed along a path behind the apartment and may at times be shared by myself. Iron and ironing board available on request.
GUEST ACCESS
Access to the 2 acre property is along an approximately 1 km unsealed road. The last half km is uphill where recent forestry work has taken place. As a result of the work the road has been roughened up a little but still ok to drive. The apartment itself and views from our 2 acre section more than make up for the approach! Summer months are fine however during the winter months there may be the odd time when snow falls on the road (usually only once or twice in a season). I have a four wheel drive vehicle to help out if this happens or the option of parking your car at a lower level accessed by a path. There is easy, flat, private parking on site at the back of the flat and two wooden steps up onto the deck leading to the front door. There is a rustic back yard due to the nature of the site but I have endeavoured to make it attractive in an ecclectic way! Main view is to the beautiful mountains.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
A porta cot for an infant is available that fits in the bedroom but could also be used in the lounge.
On site my late mother, Jill's, 500 strong Modern Porcelain Doll Collection is housed in a small museum building. You are welcome to view this at no charge on request.
Please note that I have our friendly Siberian Husky, Diesel on site. He is not running loose but tied on a long run near in proximity to the front of the flat.
No need to bring bottled water.....the purest, alpine, mineral water you could ever imagine comes straight out of the tap from a private water scheme. No chemicals added and tested regularly!
Every endeavor is made to use and provide Eco friendly consumables where possible. During winter months there are cosy winter sheets!

About the host
Hosted by Judy Murphy

I was born in Australia but have lived in NZ since 1972. While now a widow I still enjoy hosting my two Airbnbs, meeting people from all walks of life and sharing my local knowledge of the area. Still a keen skier and hiker from previous years I keep fit walking the dog, doing Yoga and Pump, gardening and keeping up with family and friends.
Why they chose this property
Being keen skiers we had always had a holiday house in Queenstown. However after living in other places we always knew we would end up living here permanently. It was a wonderful place to bring up our four children with all the outdoors activities right on our doorstep!
What makes this property unique
Larchmont Heights is a quiet hideaway, elevated with beautiful mountain views yet close enough to town ( 6 kms) to enjoy all its benefits too. Local restaurants near us and walking tracks make Arthur's Point a very desirable place to stay. We are at the top of a hill with 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains. All day sun, peaceful and tucked away.
