About this property

Our cozy, country, chic apartment is the perfect getaway for two! This private space offers everything you need! If you're coming enjoy upstate New York’s gorgeous Finger Lakes, this is the place for you! We’re about 30-40 minutes from everywhere....the bustling college town of Ithaca and Cornell University, as well as NASCAR in Watkins Glen, wineries, and state parks. But, if a quiet, secluded stay is what you’re after, step out onto the private deck and enjoy a cozy fire while the sun sets!

Neighborhood description
We love the location close to nature and on a dead end road. We live just on the outskirts of the village of Van Etten, but 20-30 minutes from Ithaca State Parks, Watkins Glen and 40 minutes from Seneca and Cayuga Lake wineries. The view from our house is incredible and is amazing anytime of the year!

We highly recommend good snow tires and/or 4 wheel drive during the winter months.

Getting around
Ithaca, Elmira, Vestal, Owego, Corning, and Watkins Glen are all within a 40 minute (or less) drive.

*There is only a 20 gallon hot water tank. (shorter showers)
*WiFi is not always stable due to the rural nature of our community

Amazing Crafting Weekend!

My best friend and myself were absolutely impressed and felt so at home in this cozy place for the weekend. It was incredibly clean, well-stocked, and the house manager was beyond kind! I would give this 10 stars if I could. Very thankful and we’ll be back. Highly recommend. And location is super close to so many wonderful hiking trails!

It's just right!

Like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Sunset View is just right in so many ways. The cleanliness is above and beyond. The location is just right for many activities. And the communication with the owner is more than just right. Overall, this property is.........just right!!

Hi there! We are a family of 4 and live in the house on the property with this apartment. My husband and I are both teachers, but have recently decided to begin homeschooling our children. We enjoy spending time outdoors with our family, gardening, spending time on our pontoon boat on Cayuga Lake, visiting state parks, and relaxing on the back porch watching the sunsets!

Whether you're looking to attend an event in the area and only plan to stay for a short time or plan to spend a longer time with us, you will enjoy all aspects of your stay. With a full kitchen and grill outside, you can make your own meals and eat them on the covered, back porch (weather permitting). Or you can drive to one of the surrounding towns and eat out. With Ithaca, Elmira, Owego, Waverly, and Sayre close by, there are many restaurant and tourist options. We highly recommend visiting one of the state parks while here! Ask us about our favorites!
