THE SPACE Allow me to give you a tour! Location - we're right at the 6th street beach access point on St Simons - walking distance to the pier and "village", and 90 steps to the beach. There's only one house between us and the beach so you can see glimpses of beach from the house and can hear waves crashing at night.
House - we have 2 comfy bedrooms and one basic bath. Honestly the kitchen, bath and laundry are nothing to write home about - but you'll find all are neat as a pin. More details of kitchen stock is below.
Primary Bedroom: The primary bedroom has a comfy king bed and has sounds of the ocean at night. There's also a big Smart TV with 125+ Xfinity cable channels, a good Polk audio system with Alexa (stream whole-house audio or just in one room), and the bathroom is attached.
Bunk Room: Custom built-in big ole' bunk bed - queen bed on the bottom, climb the stairs to a twin, and pull out the hidden twin trundle as needed to sleep 4 comfortably. Again, comfy bedding, and the same technology as the master - big Smart TV, plenty of channels, premium audio system. The bunk room is also close to the bathroom.
Living and Dining Room: Open concept living and dining room. Here again, big smart TV, plenty of channels, premium audio system, and sounds of the ocean at high tide.
Screen porch: There's a screen porch on the front of the house - great spot to enjoy some bug-free outdoors and listen to the ocean.
** Note for 2024 ** As of spring 2024 there is construction occurring on our street diagonally across the street from us. We have discounted rates accordingly.
Other features: COLD AC - we went for the max when we replaced the AC system - it will keep you cool.
FAST WIFI - 200Mbs internet.
Ceiling fans and sound machines in both bedrooms.
No stairs - ranch floor plan is one step up from the ground.
Kitchen has all the pots, pans, plates, silverware, etc. you'll need plus basic spices and oil.
Starter quantity of TP, shampoo, soap, dish and laundry detergent are provided.
Friendly local property manager to help as needed.
Why is our beach best? The 6th street beach is our favorite because we have plenty of beach even at high tide - go much closer to the village and you may not have beach at high tide. It's also not a crowded beach because there are not a bunch of big condos nearby and parking is very limited. We're so close you can just walk back to the house if you forgot something/need a break. No reason to haul your sunscreen and snacks to the beach with you, you're so close. Why near the village? The St Simons Pier Village is the social center of the island. Shops, Restaurants, ice cream parlors, and our iconic lighthouse are a short walk - we walk to the village for coffee and breakfast, then again for dinner and pick up an ice cream cone on the way back. It's about a 10-minute walk or 1-minute drive.
If you're looking for a comfortable spot with great beach access that you know is clean and cute, you've found it! And we won't bust your budget, so there's still room for that ice cream cone.
Located on the south end of the Island, St. Simons Pier Village district serves as the downtown social hub and is a popular destination for shopping, dining and gathering on the pier and nearby lighthouse, playground and picnic areas. Overlooking the ocean and Jekyll Island across the way, you'll find the St. Simons Lighthouse and Museum, Neptune Park with its ocean side pool and facilities, playground, miniature golf course, and an oak shaded picnic area, fishing pier, public library and theater.

First time in St. Simon's and had a blast. The house was clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The beach is incredibly close, and the dining isn't far either. We loved the house.

Hi Benjamin, thank you for your kind review! I'm glad you enjoyed your first visit to St. Simons Island. We hope to host you again soon. - Ryan
We had such a great stay!! The cottage was like something out of Coastal Living. We loved how close it was to the beach. Our three kids loved the bunk room. We had everything we needed for a relaxing and fun vacation!

Great home in a wonderful location. Only steps to the beach and minutes from restaurants and shopping. The house is older but very comfortable with the basics needed for a relaxing vacation. Highly recommend and will book again!
Loved this beach cottage!! Truly just steps to the beach! Great location to walk to the village and several restaurants. Everything was comfortable and clean. Probably the cleanest vacation home I've ever rented. Loved everything about our stay and would definitely return to this house.
This is an older cottage that hasn't been updated; however, the location is amazing! Easy walking distance to the beach, very close to the village, restaurants and shops. The listing is very accurate and the property manager is very transparent about the property. If you are looking for a quaint cottage by the beach for a good price, this is it!
We enjoyed our stay in this property, close to the St. Simons lighthouse and pier. The house is a vintage cottage, attractively furnished, and comfortable. It’s not new and those wanting upgraded utilities and maintenance should look elsewhere, but if you want comfort and charm, this is for you.

Thank you Ricky! For future guests, please see per description, this is an opportunity for a great spot at the beach, but the kitchen is not updated - has all you need but nothing special, and the 1 bathroom is old and small. We strive to be very up front about the house so there's no surprises.
My wife, twin 2 1/2 years olds, and mother-in-law stayed at this property for a long weekend when they came to visit me. The cottage was perfect and fully met their expectations. My wife commented that the house seemed to be very kid-friendly and the boys loved the custom bunk bed. Ryan was fantastic to deal with and went above and beyond to make sure my family's stay was memorable. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful home with us!

Property too old.
House was fair but in an amazing area. Property management was great. Home is way too dated, but decorated to hide the fact the home should be torn down and rebuild to match the area. I would definitely stay in another home managed by same property management company. The cost was too high for home but we enjoyed our location.

Dear Kathy, thank you for your kind words about our property management. As described, this is an older home in a killer location, and the absolute best value on St. Simons if that's what you're looking for. Thank you for staying with us!
Stayed here for the second time...we love the location of this house. House is clean and comfortable...however, some of the interior is probably in need of an update. Maybe some newer rugs and throw pillows. Also, the kitchen does not have a single large bowl...perhaps add a mixing bowl or serving bowl. We will likely book the same week again next year!

It was great hosting you again Sandy, we've ordered these items and hope to see you again any time!
Thank you Larry - this is a 1930's era beach cottage for those looking for a clean, cozy cottage right at the beach. Its content and new and nice but the house is classic! Thanks for staying with us!
The listing is accurate - my husband and I maybe put shoes on two times and that was only because we went into the village. A stones throw from the beach made this getaway perfect for us. There isn’t anything fancy about this place, but it’s comfortable, completely functional and did the trick.
Only thing I docked on this property is we had some hair in the sink in the bathroom which is one of the grossest things for me. So I questioned the cleanliness for the rest of the trip - probably unfairly. With one bathroom and that is an absolute must for the cleaning team to pay extra attention to.

Thanks for staying with us and glad you enjoyed a few days of flip flop life style. Our housekeepers do clean all sink surfaces and a lot more of course, I've mentioned this to them.
The owners description is spot on - clean, comfortable, fully functional, not ultra fancy, excellent location with short walk to beach or pier. I love the 1930's styling, with original doors (heavy!) and trim. Nice to have a place to clean off the beach equipment and kids + outdoor storage on the patio. One suggestion - having a mirror above each of the bedroom dressers and a power strip would make a HUGE difference. Only having one bathroom left my girlfriend and I doing the get-ready shuffle... If we had a mirror and power strip in the bedroom it would be zero issue. Also - a few more minor additions to the kitchen would be great for cooking in - measuring cups/spoons. We are looking forward to staying here again!

Thank you so much Anne, for the review and suggestions. The kitchen items have been ordered (you know the old nursery rhyme about the dish running away with the spoon?) and I'll look into more mirrors. The house is loaded with power strips.
Thanks again!
Ryan
Property should not be rented to older people. Uneven ground for walking. Very dangerous boardwalk on side of house. No railings on back porch. Front entry into house too high. Tub shower should have hand holds for entry and exit. Higher toilet necessary.
Constant noise from construction next door and across street.

Thank you Susan, I'm so sorry to hear youre trip wasn't what you had hoped. To be specific for future guests, the front entry is a half step up from the walkway to the concrete slab screen porch, and one step up from the screen porch into the home. This is a typical size step. The small back porch off the laundry room (not pictured is either 2 or 3 steps, you would use this porch if you were packing in the back, off Ocean Blvd. There are no grab bars for the tub/shower or toilet. It is a standard tub/shower and standard toilet. At the time of writing (July 2024) there is construction adjacent, we have tried to be very up front about this in the listing - it was described that way at the time of your booking, so there would be no misunderstanding. We offered a discount due to the construction.
I hope despite these concerns you were able to enjoy your time here!
Location is absolutely perfect…but wouldn’t stay here again. Yes, the listing says it’s not renovated which we appreciated the honesty but it was still took about a day to adjust to the state of things. The house has a nice cosmetic appearance inside, but there’s lots of rust throughout the house, chipping window sills right next to kids bunk beds, and mold on the ceiling in the hallway. The exterior is rotted in various spots, dog hair on the floor and sofa pillows and it just overall didn’t feel clean. All of that being said if these things don’t bother you- fantastic location one house over from the beach access and a pleasant half mile walk to downtown village. We thoroughly enjoyed the location and the incredibly comfortable mattresses - just couldn’t get past some of the details of the actual house.

Thank you Monique! This eclectic home isn't for everyone, but its clean, well equipped and a great location. We checked and do not see mildew or mold on the hall ceiling but sprayed and wiped it down just in case. The house has been deep cleaned as well. Thanks again!
