This a very cool property, offering peace and quiet, BUT many things such as railings, chairs and areas of the house are in need of repair and attention. The hotub was not available to use b/c the chemicals and cleaning had not been properly serviced, and although the owner dropped off a small baggie of pool chemicals it wasn't enough to make a difference nor make it safe to use The kitchens and bathrooms were clean and adequately stocked, it was also nice to have plenty of blankets and games available. The sheets were clean, but the comforters and pillows were dusty. It is a neat property but desperately needs a deep cleaning.
Wonderful Family Time in a great place and location
The listing says it all about the solitude and beauty around the property. I found the property to have all of the creature comforts while at the same time being remote and quiet. We had a wonderful family time with all of the comforts of home. The porch around the house coupled with the outdoor screen room and overlook made for some fantastic times outside. In addition the fire pit made for some great family and s’more time. Highly recommend this property. Wes & Leah are great to work with.
Loved the cabin from the pictures, but WOW! It’s better in person. The Cabin sits in a very remote area, about an hour away from Asheville but the drive to and from the city is a pleasant, curvy road with beautiful views. The Cabin was very clean and fully stocked with cups, plates, pots, pans, shampoo, body wash etc. The beds were VERY comfortable and the view from the balcony is breathtaking. The host Leah was very kind and made the entire reservation process a breeze. We will definitely be repeat customers and I will highly recommend this cabin to anyone interested in a quiet, remote mountain get-away.

Not cleaned well, no aircon
Previous tenant trash left on back deck for me to move to trash can. Some items e.g. toilet not cleaned well. Aircon thermostat at bottom of stairs near kitchen was off so could not use aircon. Was uncomfortable at times, especially for th0se sleeping upstairs.
This house was the answer to pet prayers. Came up to Hiot Springs to memorialize a family member so we were ready for an emotionally hard weekend but the house and the amenities allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves and the beauty of the property. Great memories made!! Plan on returning in fall to watch the leaves change!!
WONDERFUL long weekend in the mountains! The property was very well maintained and the house itself was very clean and welcoming. Easy access to town and great hiking trails and kayaking areas. There were 4 adults on this trip, all very active and lovers of the outdoors, and we will definitely be coming back to this property.
This place was amazing! The views were spectacular and we enjoyed just being secluded in the mountains for a weekend. The kitchen was fully stocked which was great because we packed everything up and just cooked in the whole time. The place was very clean. Just be prepared to drive up a mountain for 30 minutes. I get very carsick so that was probably the worst part. I would suggest making sure you have all of your groceries before you get there that way your not having to come back down. We can’t wait to stay here again!
Our family so enjoyed our visit to Feen Rock! It was the perfect place to get away and relax. We especially enjoyed the treehouse and attached porch. We ate dinner out there more than once. The house is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with all the tools and appliances needed also. We will definitely visit again!
Fern Rock is lovely! Such attention to detail and what a beautiful setting. My son recently graduated from college and our family extended the celebration to Fern Rock. We spent our days hanging out at the property, hiking the Appalachian Trail, river rafting, and exploring nearby Hot Springs. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Second tome back and feel so lucky now that I’ve discovered this gem!
Had a fantastic stay everything was clean and welcoming. If you want to take a breath in the tranquility of the North Carolina mountains, this is the spot. Always a fun and easy trip while staying here to hike up Max Patch and then drive to near by Hot Springs for an afternoon beverage.
Beautiful space. Very comfortable. I'm due for a new mattress in the near future and will be buying the same as they have there. My sister wants the sheets lol
My niece and 2 nephews were with us and even with no TV had a blast! Communication with Leah was easy and prompt, prior to and even during our stay.
My only regret is we didn't stay longer.

A comfortable sleep is important to us so we try to make that a priority for guests! Glad the mattress and sheets were appreciated :)
Please join us again!
Nice family getaway- now that all of our extended family adults are vaccinated we wanted a place where we could gather. Very pretty, very remote location. Lots to do around the property with room to spread out. The kids enjoyed the pond, yard games, and campfire time.
Youngest kiddos are six, would not be ideal for toddlers.
Secluded, magical getaway. First rental I’ve had that was better than the pictures. Leah and Wes are amazing hosts. Do your soul a favor and book this one.
My wife and I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and with 2 young kids its hard to find time for reconnection. This weekend was perfect! Cool mountain air, hot tub and mountain sunsets set the tone for intimate solitude! Thanks for everything guys!

We are so happy you enjoyed the lodge! Sounds like it was just what you needed.
We absolutely loved our stay at Fern Rock. The home and property are lovely. The cabin feels cozy and rustic yet modern and clean. Just the way you hope. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, and screened porch. Laying in the hammock felt like swinging high in the tree tops.
The property is very close to the gorgeous but easy Max Patch hike. We found some good eats at the speciality market in Hot Springs and the Trust General Store.
The hosts were kind and responsive.
We would happily stay here again.

Thank you so much! We are so glad you loved the Lodge! I agree, that hammock in the Treetops is heaven :) Please come back anytime.
Amazing mountain cabin with so many private amenities. Our group will definitely be coming back!
From start to finish, the host was very nice and responsive. The Lodge is a beautiful property, and there are many extras that take it to the next level. Plenty of space inside and out. Outdoor pavilion was our favorite, but the hot tub and the 2 fire pits were also great. We had 9 adults during our stay and we had plenty of privacy and space. Everything was thought of to include: every kitchen item you could think of, bathroom extras to help if you forgot something in town, outdoor games/activities ready to go, WiFi and speakers for entertainment, and so on! We loved this trip and will be coming back again in the future.

Thanks Craig! I’m so glad you and your friends had a blast and it all worked out. Come back anytime — and rent the extra cabins so your friends that couldn’t make it this time can join in! Forgot to ask if you made it to Hot Springs is not?!
The house and property are beautiful. We had everything we needed, plus lots of fun games and movies. We really loved all the hiking information that was provided. Carol was responsive to my questions and the check in and out process was easy. We hope to return soon.
We absolutely loved the cabin and it’s thoughtful amenities. Carol was very helpful with the booking process and throughout stay as well. Our family of 7 is forever grateful for the memories we made and will look forward to returning in the years to come.
We had an amazing weekend in the mountains. Fern Rock Lodge is a delightful log room in a fantastic setting. We enjoyed just relaxing, sitting in the screened porch and the pond. There is nothing we would change, other than to stay longer!!! This is a place to get some peace and quiet. Everything was exactly as described and Carol was super helpful and provided clear, detailed directions and instructions.
Thank you for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home.
Beautiful restored log cabin inside and outside that is well stocked. It accommodated our family of 9 very well. It is everything the listing says it is and the owners are very gracious and responsive.
We stayed at the main lodge and thought the property was amazing. We never felt like we needed to get off the property. There was plenty to do: Swimming, kayaking, and fishing in the pond; learning archery; hanging out in the pavilion; soaking in the hot tub; going on the scavenger hunt; or finding a quiet place to read a for a little while. We could not have found a better place suited for our family of six. Add on top of that that the views and surrounding area are stunning. We are already talking about coming back in a year or two. When we asked our girls what their favorite part of the vacation was, they could not decide:) Finally, Doug and Carol were amazing hosts. We did not have much need or have many questions, but when we did they were immediately available and were great helps. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, secluded place to have an unhurried, unplugged, and recharging family vacation, we could not recommend this place enough. Thanks Doug and Carol for making this amazing property available.

We’ve put a lot of care into maintaining Fern Rock as a place where guests can slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and spend quality time together. We’re available if anything comes up and want your stay to feel easy and comfortable from start to finish.
Why they chose this property
Why we chose this location
Fern Rock stands out for its rare combination of privacy, space, and access to the natural beauty of the mountains. Set on 16 wooded acres, it offers a level of seclusion that’s hard to find, while still being within driving distance of Hot Springs and the surrounding trails.
What makes this area special is how immersive it feels. You’re surrounded by forest, mountain views, and the sounds of nature, with space to explore right on the property, including walking trails and a spring-fed pond.
At the same time, you’re close enough to enjoy the winding drive along Highway 209 (The Rattler) and everything the Hot Springs area has to offer, from hiking to exploring the local town.
It’s a place that makes it easy to slow down, spend time outdoors, and enjoy being together without distractions.
What makes this property unique
The smell of fresh pine, views of mountain ranges older than the Rockies, and a sky full of stars set the tone—but what truly makes Fern Rock unique is the space and privacy it offers.
Set on 16 private acres with a full lodge and separate treetop porch, the property gives your group room to spread out, explore, and enjoy time together in a way that’s hard to find.
From walking trails and a spring-fed pond to multiple outdoor gathering spaces, it’s a setting that feels both expansive and connected to nature.
