Light-Filled Log Home, 4 Wooded Acres, & Lake Access. The water is 0.4 mi away.
A quintessential Maine retreat, filled with the natural beauty of wood and sunlight and all the comforts you desire. Enjoy your coffee on the deck, breakfast on the screened porch, and a dip into David Pond any time you like(well, in the winter you can ice fish and snowshoe) just a short walk down the road, 4/10 of a mile away to the association’s common area on the lake, David Pond. Treat yourself to true quiet, true darkness, and stars so bright you feel that you can almost touch them.
This beautiful log cabin sits on four wooded acres surrounded by hundreds more, with lakes in every direction. Sunlight streams into the gracious main floor through large trapezoidal windows above and two sliding doors to the generous wrap-around deck. The living area is open space concept, kitchen-dining-living, with a majestic cathedral ceiling and an adjacent furnished screen porch/sunroom. Also on the main floor is a bedroom with a log double bed and single bunk above, the main bathroom, and a 24 inch TV for keeping up with the news while you make dinner.
Upstairs in the master bedroom, wake up in your comfy log queen bed and catch the sunrise through the upper windows. Enjoy your own half-bath, sitting room with loveseat that opens to a single bed, with plenty of room for a pack 'n play if needed. A highchair, crib, toddler bed, and various other baby items are available upon your request. All closets and dressers are fully available for your use throughout the house.
On the lower level, but still above ground, is a large family room(or third bedroom) with a double futon, 48 inch TV with sound bar, DVD player and small DVD library. From there a doorway to the outside takes you to the front lawn on the right, or to the outdoor shower with a wooden privacy screen on the left. If you have never taken a shower under the sky, you are in for a treat! Of course there is a shower inside as well.
From the house you can walk, mountain bike, snowshoe, or cross country ski through a beautiful conservation area forest to Basin Pond and beyond. Nearby are many established and maintained well-marked hiking trails, snowmobile trails, mountains to climb, golf courses, lakes for boating, and even a wild animal park. You'll enjoy a sense of peace and seculsion while knowing that you can still hop in the car and go out to a great coffee spot if you wish. The Olde Post Office Cafe is only a 10 minute drive north in quaint Mount Vernon village written up in DownEast magazine. The Apple Shed Bakery is 6 miles in the other direction, in the village of Kents Hill, with a wide assortment of bakery treats, ice cream, gormet premade dinners, gifts, wine, beer, handmade jellies and jambs and stoneware, breads, coffee, farmfresh yogurts, and milk items, pizza, lobster rolls on summer weekends, and much more.
Extensive shopping is available at two Augusta exits from I95, Exits 109 and 112(25 minutes away) as well as a vast array of restaurants and an award winning health club and spa. Freeport, home of L.L. Bean and a host of other outlet stores, is 45 minutes south. A trip to the coast, or to Portland, or to Sugarloaf ski area takes about 90 minutes. Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and Baxter State Park are farther away but worth the ride.
You will emerge from this vacation rested and refreshed, having seen stars brighter than you can remember. You will leave the state truly understanding the highway sign slogan at the border that reads, "Maine, worth a visit, worth a lifetime".

great accommodations and proximity to hiking trails and college tours. pond very clean and great for swimming and kayaking - even saw a couple of loons! local farms are great for fruit, produce, and eggs.
Very peaceful place. This home has everything you would need. My favorite room was the peaceful screened in porch where I would drink my morning coffee. Highly recommended.
We were looking for a relaxing retreat and this cabin fit the bill. Very homey, clean, and nice layout for a family. Lake was beautiful as well! Definitely would come again!
The property was just as described and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The cabin is beautiful and very well appointed. I would definitely recommend it to friends.
Rock and Jen’s property was exactly as advertised. The house is perfect for what we were looking for and we would definitely stay here again in the future. Communication was quick and easy and we couldn’t have asked for a better long weekend away.
We had a fantastic stay. This log cabin was perfect for our family and was dog friendly. We enjoyed the privacy of this property and all the features it had. Perfect sunrises and sunsets. We even enjoyed the short walk to the lake for a swim and canoeing.

Rocks cabin really rocks!!! Cabin is super clean, amenities are great. You could find anything you look for. If you are looking for a quiet gateway, look no further. Our dogs loved it so much also, beware of coyotes at night!!!
What a wonderful place! This cozy cabin in the woods is incredibly peaceful and serene. The hosts are helpful and kind and have thought of so many little things to make the stay complete…from stabilizers for your shoes on the ice to dog bowls for your pup. Thank you for a great stay!
We had a wonderful time for our winter holiday at Rock and Jen's cabin. The owners were so communicative during our booking and travel to the area, especially since there had been winter weather concerns. Everything at their cabin was just as listed and we found everything we needed for our stay. This cabin is in such a quiet and beautiful spot near the lake, it made for the perfect retreat with our kids. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone for a lovely stay in Maine!
We absolutely loved the cabin and the area it was located in. Easy access to water and hiking trails!!! We loved the garden and enjoyed tomatoes and snap peas from it. We enjoyed our coffee in the screened in porch every morning. Overall the cleanliness of the house was outstanding. If I had to give any suggestions it would be to have your guests remove any food they didn't consume during their stay or have the cleaning people dispose of it. There was food/condiments in the refrigerator and cabinets that expired years ago! We also noticed there were nice steps leading to the lower part of the yard, however the grass and fern were so overgrown and not kept up with that the steps were completely covered. Overall we were extremely pleased and we are already talking of booking the cabin next year!!! Thank you!
My wife and I have used VRBO (and one of it's competitors) for stays all over the country, and this was by far the most accurate and well appointed stays we've ever had. Communication with Rock & Jenn was spot on, the cabin was clean, comfortable, and had all the little things you may have forgotten to bring with or pick up at the local store. The lake was so quiet and serene it almost seemed unreal. We will be back for sure!
The cabin is fabulous!!! Even better in person than described... homey, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Myself, husband, daughter (23) and son (18) had a wonderfully relaxing getaway. Our only wish is that we had had more time... Rock was so responsive and thoughtful!!! Thank you for sharing your cabin...
My family spent a week at this beautiful cabin. It was tucked away in the woods but close to town and activities. We enjoyed the lake by canoe and kayaks that were provided. It was so peaceful.
The cabin itself was clean and well stocked with extra blankets, sheets and towels. Although we didn’t need them, I noticed a toddler bed, high chair and and extra mattress. The screened in porch was a great place to spend the evening. We will definitely come back again!!
Serene setting - in the woods but part of a community of owners. The shared access to David Pond is beautiful, a short drive or walk away. We sat there and read and drew the gorgeous setting, listening for the loons. It felt like we had it all to ourselves! The cabin is well-equipped, comfortable and we slept well. Don’t miss the new Scapes Restaurant in Mt. Vernon (in same location as the Old Post office Cafe) and the Apple Shed in Kent Hills for soups, baked goods etc. a very calming place and setting a bit away from the Belgrade Lakes scene. We loved our summer weeklong stay.

Nice cabin for cooler weather. The lake is about a half mile away but it is beautiful. The small air conditioner in the bedroom was noisy and didn't cool down the cabin. Luckily the weather changed and it was more comfortable after a couple of days.

We apologize for the AC, it just failed prior to your stay. We did install a new Midea 5000 BTU directly after in the 1st floor bedroom. Again, our apologies. Rock (and Jenn)
Our vacation was unforgettable; I would like to thank Rock and Jenn for having us their first guests.
Our priority was the cleanliness of the property in the renting process; after we contacted with Rock and Jenn, they assured us the house would be clean, and they would take all pandemic related precautions. When we arrived, we saw that the place was just like we were promised.
The house has all the amenities listed, and we were able to use them efficiently. Do not be upset because of not having a lake view; there is a big lake nearby, and there are multiple chairs at your lake access point that you can enjoy the lake view privately besides; waking up and doing your morning yoga in peaceful forest view.
There are many beautiful walk/hike routes nearby and lovely farmers markets; you can buy yogurt, fresh bakery items, milk, egg, vegetables, fruits, etc. You can find anything you like in 30 min drive radius.
Even though we just stayed four nights, we returned to Boston fully rested. My friends and I were a little bit heartbroken to leave; we plan to come back soon.
Jenn and Rock - We appreciate your kindness and responsiveness. Thank you!

Our last name, Eisenheim, means Iron Home. We are a family of 6 and live in MA, but love Maine and get up here as often as possible. We owned another piece of property in Maine since 2012. We recently purchased the Log Home or as we(I) like to call it 'Iron Home'. We are excited to start building memories here and we wish the same for you. Rock(and Jenn)
