About this property

2BR Suite | Historic Inn Downtown Charleston

Summary:

Live like a local in this two queen bedroom, two bath suite located in downtown Charleston. Housed in The Charlestonian on the second floor, this suite offers private entrance, patio and porch, kitchen, living area, laundry, and complimentary parking for one car. Incredible for walking to CofC, MUSC, and world-renowned shopping and dining on King St. and surrounding historic downtown.

The Space:

The suite occupies the second floor of The Charlestonian, a fully restored 1851 antebellum estate in Cannonborough, one of downtown Charleston's most walkable and vibrant neighborhoods. Two queen bedrooms, two private bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen and living room, private porch, in-unit laundry, dedicated workspace, and complimentary on-premises parking make this one of the most complete group stays available on the Charleston peninsula. The second-floor layout gives you an elevated view over Cannon Street from a private porch, separation between the social living space and the private bedrooms, and one-of-a-kind architectural character that no hotel in Charleston can replicate.

*Please note this rental is located on the second floor and only accessible by spiral staircase. Absolutely no parties or late-night noise will be tolerated.

Operating Permit: OP2026-07476

Guest Access:

This suite has access to the large front porch with exclusive, dedicated seating, a private rear porch, and patio with Green Egg charcoal grill, complementary charcoal. Complimentary parking for one vehicle.

*Please note this suite is only accessible by a spiral staircase.

The Neighborhood:

Visitors can enjoy convenient dining options directly next door at Southbound and Ladles Soup across from the apartment. The home is set in Cannonborough, an inviting downtown area blending historic and stylish residential homes. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston, as well as Charleston's finest restaurants and shopping

Getting Around:

We offer free parking onsite. We are only 3 blocks from Upper King Street, so most guests prefer to walk and explore the city. The beach is 15 minutes away by car. There is also a free shuttle offered by the city that runs along King Street (3 blocks away) to popular stops. Bike rentals are available nearby or you might enjoy trying a pedicab taxi.

Other Things to Note:

We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Chubby Fish, Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.

This place was absolutely wonderful. It was surrounded by cute coffee shops and bagel spots for breakfast. One of the nicest restaurants in Charleston is right next door. It has second floor deck that overlooks Cannon Street. King Street is just a few blocks away. It was tucked in a nice neighborhood but near the action and the interior was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully organized. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful place with great views!

The level of detail this family took to restore this home is amazing! We just loved its charm and location! Easy walk downtown, or Uber anywhere. Loved sitting on the porch each afternoon with a great 2nd floor breeze.

Great Stay!

The Charlestonian property is truly remarkable. The team here has done a great job of renovating and cultivating a fantastic property for visitors. We enjoyed all of the modern industrial/coastal touches around and the unit, and we loved dinner and wine on the porch in the evenings. We will certainly be back!

Charleston Getaway

The property was exactly as pictured. Very clean and had every amenity you could wish for. The property owner was very friendly and made sure our checkin was quick and easy. They were very helpful with places to dine in the area. It was amazing staying in a home that was built in 1850 and renovated so modern but still kept the feel of a historic property. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful inside and out

The property was beautiful. The locations is within walking distance to many sites. My partner and I enjoyed unwinding on the beautiful porch in the evenings. The owners were so quick to respond and were so helpful. This should definitely be on your list to stay! We will definitely be back.
