About the host
Hosted by Bob Brodie

Paula and Bob live in Pasadena and come to Santa Barbara whenever the house isn't rented. We enjoy the restaurants and hiking, biking and visiting friends.
Why they chose this property
I originally purchased the home as my primary residence and lived there until I got married and moved to Pasadena so my wife could continue to work at JPL. My job allowed me to work from home. I love this house and did not want to sell it, so we decided to try renting it out as a vacation home, since Santa Barbara is one of the premier vacations spots in the world and the home is located close to downtown and all other Santa Barbara attractions.
What makes this property unique
Many of the times when we stay at the house, we go bike riding around the area. There is a bike path right in front of the house and it is easy to access Santa Barbara's network of bike paths. We go on rides between 14 and 30 miles; both longer and shorter paths are available. We also enjoy riding in the Santa Ynez valley and visiting wineries while there. We also enjoy a relaxing hot tub when we return from riding. We also enjoy the many exciting places to eat. 2 of our favorites are a small unique mexican restaurant - La Super Rica on Milpas st. The food there is unique yet inexpensive. This restaurant was one of Julia Child's favorites. There are many other fine and unique restaurants in Santa Barbara. Additionally we enjoy hiking on many of the trails in the areas mountains, as well as having a few drinks at Brophy's in the harbor.
