Zachary, we are thrilled at your great feedback and review of Riverfront Cabin at Todd! Thank you for taking the time to leave one. We look forward to your return visit!
The location was good. The pictures outside need to be updated. The size of the home worked out great. The porches had not been cleaned. We have stayed at many rentals and we were disappointed we had to purchase soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels. Usually there is some suppled. But overall we had a great time. Just needs a good cleansing.

A disappointment
I'll start with the positives: Wendy was great to work with and the house is located on the New River and my husband was able to fish. The negatives: the map is way off. It has most things around 6 miles away. There is nothing in Boone that you can get to in 6 miles. We tracked all the places we went to in Boone and they all were at least 7 miles and most 8-10 miles away. On top of that, the long winding country road seems like you are going even further. Blink and you will miss the street this house is on. It's a gravel road with deep potholes, over grown with greenery, and kind of creepy. There are only 3 houses and one is deserted. I can see why they tell you to make sure you have the appropriate vehicle to get here during the winter. It was a task getting there in the summer with all the winding roads. We made sure we were back before dark because there was no way we felt safe driving on those roads at night. Now the house. The kitchen counter is disgusting! It has a ton of stains in it to the point we didn't put anything on it and it looked dirty which it probably wasn't but the stains gave it that appearance. Some of the furniture was very old and needed to be painted. I agree with one review about the deck. At top of all the cobwebs, the furniture could be replaced with something new. The upstairs queen bed was very uncomfortable. I woke up with a backache every morning. The hardwood floors need to be redone. Tons of scratches in it and worn. I don't quite understand the 5 star ratings. Overall, I do not recommend and would not go back.

We value all feedback both positive and constructive from our guests. Reviews are a tool we use to continue to improve our services as well as the experience for each future guest. We have multiple repeat renters who have stayed numerous years in a row at this same home and many guests who often secure their next stay before they have even departed from their present stay. I will address the points mentioned in this surprising review. We provide a map with typed out details for each turn as well as a sketch of the map from google maps. It clearly says at the top of the directions that it is located 7.6 miles from Boone which is accurate. I believe that most travelers to the NC Mountains are going to expect roads to a cabin to be winding however all of the roads to this home are paved state maintained roads until you reach the private gravel drive that leads to the home. The home that is referenced to be deserted on the road to this cabin has since been purchased by these homeowners and is now available to rent as well. It has been totally remodeled and beautifully sits by the river. You can view as "A Riverside Round House" on our site or VRBO 3110597. The countertops are a custom concrete material which does have discoloration by design. The countertops are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each stay. The floors are genuine hardwood floors that do naturally show scratches and natural wear through the years. This is the first time that it has been reported that one of the mattresses causes any backaches. I will investigate as well as pass that information to the homeowners who are always anxious to make their home as perfect as possible for others as well as for themselves. Considering the multiple 5 star reviews from guests on this site and the other sites we are a members I was shocked by this review. I will point out that she says in her review that I was great to work with though she gave me a one star in my review. Again we do welcome and value any and all feedback but we also have realized in managing properties for nearly 30 years in this area that there are a very small percentage of guests that should not be renting a mountain cabin but rather a hotel downtown. I would definitely encourage you to not let this review keep you from an amazing vacation stay at A Riverfront Cabin in Todd.
We loved having meals on the deck and watching the deer and fawn play. The river was a beautiful view while we soaked in the hot tub after hiking all day. The pool table added much evening enjoyment!! Thank you for a fabulous week in the mountains!!
We absolutely loved this place. We went for a short 3 day getaway. It was so peaceful and relaxing. House was very nice, had everything needed for our stay. Our dogs loved it also. The house was clean but the deck area had a lot of cobwebs and deck floor was dusty/dirty, we know that decks can get dusty but this seemed like the deck hadn't been tended to in quite awhile, other than that it was great. We would definitely rent this cabin again. Lots of attractions nearby to check out and absolutely beautiful area. We look forward to going back again.
