Arrived and they didn’t have my reservation because of tech issues. Restaurant and bar closed, pool partially open, place not well maintained. Nice owner and we expected rusticness but place needs to be more traveler ready and accommodating.
but do be prepared for a wonderful, fascinating experience. This is an older/rustic retreat. If you're looking for an air-conditioned fancy facility, this isn't for you. But trust me, the sometimes harrowing drive to the tip of the peninsula will lead you to a memorable stay. Paradise with an ocean view. The place is called the Howler Monkey Hotel because, guess what, the monkeys will wake you early. The ocean was very warm to swim in at high tide, and the pool cool and refreshing. James, the owner, is great, very kind and knowledgeable about the area.
This stay did not take place because the reservation did not exist. Upon arrival, I discovered that no room was available and that the booking was not recognized by the property. The host never responded to my messages through the VRBO app. When I spoke with the person on site, I was informed that there was no reservation under my name and that the property was fully booked. As a result, I had to find alternative accommodation at the last minute on New Year’s Eve, which was extremely difficult and caused significant stress and additional expenses. This was a very disappointing experience and a serious failure in the booking process, with a major negative impact on my trip.
