Access to Acadia NP could not have been better!! Comfortable well appointed rooms & kitchen facilities. One of our favorite VRBO stays. We highly recommend it!
Very nice place, located close to everything we wanted to experience in Acadia and the area. Very clean and well appointed with things we needed. Parking in back is adequate, we had a large SUV and it fit fine. Overall great experience
Excellent place to stay. Short walk to the beautiful Seal Harbor beach. Easy access to the park. Close to Bar Harbor. And a nice, clean, comfortable apartment that has everything you need.
The Nest apartment was fabulous. It was updated, clean and cozy. It was the perfect place to relax after going out and exploring for the day. We would definitely stay here again.
This was our second time staying at this property and it was just what I remembered, cozy, convenient, thoughtfully decorated, and so close to the beach. We're already planning to come back next year!
Beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay. It was also close to Acadia and all the harbors we wanted to visit. Had a wonderful time!
Thanks for sharing your nest with us! We had a wonderful time. The nest was beautifully appointed and we lacked for nothing, just cozy and comfortable the whole time.
We had a wonderful stay at the Nest. The location was lovely with a close entrance to Acadia and some carriage roads and not too close to the bustle of Bar Harbor, but rather just close enough. Super peaceful stay for our family. Pam :)
Lovely well appointed apartment, close to everything by car i.e. Bar Harbor and Acadia. You can walk to the beach. It is above a design showroom with very friendly employees. Be prepared to walk some stairs to get to the apartment and a bit of patchy cell service. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would return if we were in the area again!
Perfect location for exploring Acadia, or just relaxing!
This was our second stay at the Nest. It is truly a clean, comfortable, and convenient “home away from home” located in Seal Harbor. We’re looking forward to our third stay!
We enjoyed our stay at the beautiful and cozy nest. It is close to all the splendor of Acadia and the beach with easy access to restaurants and Bar Harbor.
Immaculate apartment with everything you could possibly need! Close to Acadia - walking to Jordan Pond and driving to all other parts of Acadia. Excellent gift and coffee/ice cream/gelato/fresh muffins and bike rentals a few doors away. The beach access is right out the back door and towels and chairs were provided. Quite honestly- we had everything and more!!!
This was a great place to stay for a few nights while visiting Acadia. The apartment was clean, as-described, and well stocked. Check-in and check-out directions were very clear. We were very happy with our stay. Would recommend!

About the host
Hosted by Karen Pierce
Karen and Matt Pierce are long term summer residents of the town of Mt. Desert. Matt's ancestral family has enjoyed Acadia since the 1870s and were instrumental in founding Acadia National Park. Our son and daughter-in-law co-own the building with us and run the Rusticator, a beautiful home design studio and decor shop on the first floor. We are in charge of the Nest. We are avid boaters and love to explore the wilderness. But we also love to read, play games and do puzzles when the weather isn't so great. We've set up the Nest so that our guests can have great access to the waterfront and the park, while enjoying a hot coffee and doing a crossword puzzle on the morning deck if they prefer.
Why they chose this property
The Nest is new, convenient and perfect for active recreation or quiet reflection. You can walk to the next-door restaurant or library, carry your kayak to the beach, bike the carriage roads of Acadia National Park or hike its mountains. Enjoy your coffee on the morning deck overlooking Main Street or sun bathe on the back deck in the afternoon. Grill your dinner and enjoy the sunset while listening to the ocean waves. Walk on the village green and sit on the bluff overlooking Seal Harbor. Get on a ferry and visit the Cranberry Islands, drive to Bar Harbor to shop, or work on our commercial speed internet while your loved ones have popovers at Jordan Pond house. All these opportunities are 10 minutes or less from the Nest. Or sleep in on our comfortable queen-size bed in our enhanced sound-proofed rooms. You'll love every minute!
What makes this property unique
The Nest is a unique property on Mt Desert Island. First, it is newly renovated and exquisitely designed for easy living. Built in 1880, the building was moved in 1910 to its current location. In 2019 and 2020, we completely restored the building from the studs out, so while the property retains the charm of the 1880s, it has every modern convenience, including a full kitchen, washer and dryer, commercial speed internet, heating and air conditioning with an en-suite master bedroom and lovely second bedroom with a private deck. In the past, the building at 10 Main St has been a marketplace, a social club and a vacation residence. Today, the Rusticator store on the first floor is a beautiful and eclectic design studio and the Nest is a stand-alone apartment. We've plenty of maps, books, games and TV so that you can plan your events while staying at the Nest. we hope that you enjoy our jewel of an apartment,.
