Completely renovated log cabin located on the beautiful Sturgeon River. Cabin originally built in the 1940's and remodeled in 2021. It has the charm of the old cabin but with updated inside, plumbing, electric, furnishings and amenities. Reed's on the River is located on 350 ft. of the Sturgeon River with 6 other cabins on the property to rent. All cabins have unobstructed views of the river where you can fish or end your tubing/kayaking adventure at your front door. The cabins are located within walking distance to downtown Indian River, which has cute shops, restaurants and ice cream shops. Although we allow 6, please know this is a cozy cabin. The 3rd sleeping spot is a small fold out futon couch. The cabin is a perfect spot to visit May through October as the weather is wonderful. The Sturgeon River is very well known for it's fishing, especially in the Spring and the Fall. It is also the fastest flowing river in the lower peninsula of Michigan making it ideal for tubing and adventurous kayaking. The leaves changing in October is a -must see. This cabin has a nice screened in porch where you can sit and enjoy the view and weather. You will have your own firepit with chairs. We have worked hard to provide comfort, fun, beautiful grounds and service so that you can make life long memories. We will be available for anything you might need. We have firewood and smores ingredients for sale onsite. We are very dog friendly but over the years we have been renting, unfortunately, we've had a few misbehaving pets that have resulted in us having to adopt a pet policy and a pet fee. We charge $25/night, per pet, with a maximum fee of $250 and 2 dogs. Upon booking, please call us and we will send policy form and collect payment. With most cabins in Indian River, like ours, we are located off a highway which comes with some traffic noise. Most guests find the peaceful river setting outweighs the traffic.

We enjoyed our stay at Reeds. The space was clean and it was enjoyable to be on the river. Downtown is walkable as well. Check in was very easy and we were notified as soon as the cabin was available.

Thank you so much for staying with us! Hope to see you again!
It’s a small cabin set on a river and busy highway. The cabin is pretty clean minus the mattress which we accidentally peeked at having to strip the bed. We had to rewash all the plates and utensils to use them but otherwise it was a nice setting. We weren’t informed of construction to the main office that woke us early Saturday morning with a loud air compressor and nail gun going off combined with the highway noise wasn’t super peaceful.

Thank you for staying with us and for the review. Unfortunately, we had a renovation going on during your stay. It is completed and there should be no more construction noise. We texts all our guest upon arrival and ask them to let us know if anything needs attention so we can make it right during your stay. If the plates and utensils needed washing, we would've been right there! We strive for a VERY clean experience.
We booked a short, last minute trip to Northern Michigan in hopes of seeing peak fall colors which were amazing!! Didn’t have much time to research lodging that also accepted our two dogs so we took a chance and booked a cabin at Reeds on the River.
When we arrived we were kindly greeted by one of the owners who was in the midst of replenishing a cabin. Don immediately made us feel at home with his warm welcome. Once inside the cabin, we instantly knew our last minute booking was one we would not regret.
Our cabin was CLEAN, well-stocked and furnished with what you would hope for in a cabin. It was obviously well cared for and maintained inside and out!!! The river views from the back and side windows were scenic, pretty and peaceful.
We enjoyed the fire pit and the easy access to the firewood! They even offer all the makings for S’mores in their cabin store. If time permitted, we would have fished in the river that is literally a stones throw away.
I hesitated writing this review as the labor of love put into these restored cabins was obvious! My hesitation is that word will spread quickly about these lovely cabins and I fear the next trip we attempt to take to this area, the cabins might be booked. Pleased we were able to enjoy the accommodations this time and truly hope to return one day.
Until then, a heart felt thanks for all you did to make this a beautiful memory for us. Your incredible restorations to these cabins is a gift to Indian River, Michigan!
