Ready to truly get away from it all? Tucked deep in the woods on 26 private acres, this off-grid cabin offers the rare chance to slow down, unplug, and reconnect with nature. Surrounded by trees and open sky, the quiet here is real—and deeply restorative.
Start your mornings with coffee on the porch as sunlight filters through the pines. Spend the day hiking your own wooded trails, wandering down to the river, or simply enjoying the stillness that comes from having no neighbors in sight. In summer, it’s all about sun, fresh air, and long, quiet days. In winter, snowmobiles pass nearby and the cabin becomes a warm, cozy retreat from the cold.
Inside, the cabin feels rustic yet comfortable. Vaulted ceilings open up the living space, where a wood stove invites you to settle in with a book, board games, or a movie from the DVD collection. The kitchen is well stocked for real cooking, making shared meals easy and unhurried. Bedrooms are cozy and dark at night, perfect for deep, restful sleep.
Please note this is a true off-grid, solar-powered cabin experience. There is no WiFi at the property, and cell service may be limited depending on your carrier. Electricity is typically reliable, but guests should be comfortable conserving power as part of the unplugged mountain experience.
Evenings are best spent outside by the fire pit, watching the stars appear overhead and listening to the sounds of the woods. And when you’re ready for a taste of civilization, the town of Canaan—with restaurants, groceries, and even ice cream—is just a short drive away.
This is a place for quiet mornings, slow evenings, and a kind of peace that’s hard to find anymore.

Clean room, house, cabin, pet friendly, we’re all excellent. No pilot for the propane stove. No wood for the fireplace. (Unexpectedly chilly).Had a great stay!
We had an awesome time.Although the cell coverage was spotty which was expected we enjoyed the outdoor firepit. House was clean and well stocked. Communication with host was great. The road going in is a little rough but it adds to the adventures. Bought wood locally and had a great time. Would definitely return here again.
This was a great time for all ages! We are 2 families who love to camp together and were considering a house this year. We got the best of both worlds with this property. We had a great time playing games, hanging out on the porch, and the chess table was always in use. It was a nice drive up to the white mountains and close to Mount cardigan. We will be back!
Our plans were to stay off grid, but unfortunately due to weather we were not able too. We find it out on the arrival. Our host Patti took care of us and our stay right away. Giving us options to choose and stay. We end up being pampered. We’ve made beautiful memories. Patti was always reachable and ready with help to answer any questions. Everything was taken care of always on top. We thank you very much for your dedication. We made life time memories thanks to you. And we are definitely coming back to try off grid. If I could write the review any better please forgive me. We love you for everything you did and appreciate that very much.
Beautiful and cozy cabin, with plenty of space and games! We were a big group of 7 adults and we really enjoyed our stay. With a fire place inside and out, it's the perfect spot for milk and cookies...! Would recommend! :)
The title of this listing describes the property perfectly. Cute and charming rustic log cabin. Off grid with no TV, no internet, no WiFi and questionable cell service (at least with my carrier). This cozy little home was exactly what our family wanted. Time to literally get away from the world and isolate from society. We bonded, laughed, talked and enjoyed each other more than we had in a very long time. Waking up surrounded by peace and quiet with amazing views of forest and mountain… then going to bed after sipping tea by a crackling fire while doing a crossword puzzle. It was like living in a fairy tale for a few days. The house was stocked with cut wood for a fire, plenty of games to play, lots of room to stretch out, and plenty of land to explore. And it is definitely deep in the woods… a long dirt road, up and down hills, around curves through the trees type of deep in the woods… 4WD is definitely recommended, we had a little trouble without 4WD due to melting ice and snow, but ultimately made it safely. A sincere and honest note of gratitude and appreciation to the host Patti! Thank you for hosting our family. She is the best host! Answered all our questions, accommodated us in every way possible, was always available for us. We were all sad to return to reality and can’t wait to go back.
Nice enough if you are looking for a cabin that is one step above camping, but for us the "off grid" wasn't working. Batteries and solar would keep the lights on, but even a couple people showering in a row would kill the power. Cabin not well stocked - no firewood on arrival, generator ran out of gas the second night and there was maybe 2 gallons in a can to limp through the night. Lots of little things broken. Creaking floors will wake up any light sleeper with any movement. Generator wouldn't reliably start - lots of squatting outside praying for it to run while someone inside was hoping to finish their shower.
Unfortunately I can only give this property an overall rating of 1 mainly because we did not have power upon arrival. This proprety was not as advertised. Yes, we were able to run a generator (again because solar panels were not working as stated) however, we were concerned that the generator would run out of gas (because it was not full) and a full can of gas was not provided. Wood for the outdoor firepit was not stacked and ready to use. It felt like this property was not properly prepared to accomodate guests as stated. We ended up leaving a day early because of the electricity situation and having food in coolers that we didn't want to spoil. On a side note, this is a remote cabin however, we are a family that is use to more remote and rustic cabins. We managed but this was not what we were expecting!
The cabin was nice. I would recommend that they leave the paper with “rules” right at the door. Didn’t find it until 2nd day. Lost power a couple times and took awhile to reach owner. Besides that it’s a nice quiet place to get away.
We didn't encounter any bears or wildlife during our stay, however if we had Patti had us prepared with several cans of bear spray located throughout cabin for our use. The cabin is run on solar power which is limited. They did have a generator and spare gas can prepared for the generator to recharge the solar power cells should you drain the power during your stay. We made the mistake of having too many devices plugged in on our first day and drained the power mid way through our first night, however due to the preparedness of having the generator on site and ready to use we were able to keep running. Overall it was a fun and new experience.
