Great accommodations for any getaway. There is enough to do right at the Pulpit House, you don't even need to plan other entertainment. Our family has stayed in many VRBO rentals and this is by far our favorite, just because of the convenience and atmosphere. There is dining and a small convenience store in very short walking distance, as well as a park for children. We highly recommend a stay here, and plan to return.

This is such a special property! We were in town for a family barbecue about 20 min away from Hagaman. My husband, our daughter, her partner, our dogs and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. The beds were comfy, the house was clean, and the water pressure was great in the shower. We loved the shared open spaces. We played lots of pool and some of the games that were at the house. Be sure to go upstairs to the church area; it was an absolute blast doing some karaoke up there. We all agreed we want to return to this rental in the future. Highly recommend this unique rental!

The Pulpit House is a fun and unique place to stay for any reason. We thoroughly enjoyed the church motif and ample ample space being on the ground floor of an old Methodist church; it was very peaceful. This is one of the best appointed rentals I've been in. The rental includes a pool table, darts, books, games, smart tv for easy streaming, commercial kitchen, coffee and espresso makers, milkshake machines (I think), as well as towels, all linens and basic toiletries. We had fun passing the night with pool and darts. There's even an outside sitting area we enjoyed on a cool evening. The location is most convenient with 2 restaurants in walking distance and a Stewart's across the street. Amsterdam's main drag is only 2 miles away for additional dining and shopping. Overall, staying at the Pulpit House is an intriguing and memorable experience. You even get to visit the upstairs with the old times organ pipes and beautiful stained glass windows. One word of caution-the Pulpit House is next to a fire house so if there is an incident, the very loud siren blows. We had that happen at 4:15 AM. We just looked outside and went back to bed. Just wanted to share it can happen and it in no way marred our experience. I would love the chance to stay again.

Trip to see parents

The decor and amenities were awesome! The king bed was very comfortable, and the sheets were very soft. The kitchen had everything imaginable. It was very dog friendly, including dishes for dog food and water. Restaurants and Stewart’s nearby were economical and had very good service and food. We will definitely stay again!

Why they chose this property

We love this quiet, country village. Stewarts Ice Cream, CP's restaurant, Cronies Restaurant, Post Office and Park/Creek are all within walking distance.

What makes this property unique

This is an old Methodist Church that we saved from being torn apart and sold off. The stained glass windows, pews and much of the old tables and chairs along with pianos and organs are still there to admire.
